People who don't follow the Royals don't know what had transpired up to this point in time. The Royals had more HBPs at that point in the season than any other team except the Rangers. It was clear some of the HBPs were strategic and intentional. Four of our best batters were being hit repeatedly. Alex Rios' hand was broken by an HBP. The umpires were not doing what needed to be done and then Lawrie carelessly slides into Escobar cleats up and removes him from playing (there's actually a rule that could have been invoked to call Lawrie out but the umpires didn't do anything). By standing up for themselves, the Royals forced the umpires to consider the fact that an organization was paying millions of dollars to players who were at risk due to excessive HBPs. A message was sent that the Royals weren't going to stand by and allow themselves to be assaulted during a game. The HBPs against the Royals decreased after these early incidents and, for the most part, the Royals have returned to the group of guys who just don't care about anything other than playing to win, having fun and celebrating their success. Bottom line: the Royals have moved on - it's time for everyone else to do the same.
u no the royals are prob so dirty cuz ppl hit them so much
lmao what a whiny bitch
After this happened, other teams stopped throwing at Royals batters nearly as often too. And, the Royals went to the World Series and won it. So fuck off Lawrie defenders.
Royals - 2015 World Series Champions! Suck it, haters!
You do realize Lawrie was called out, right?
I was there!
MY FAVORITE REGULAR SEASON GAME(that I've been at)!
"You still suck Lawrie" lol
Lol billy butler is like man what's happening to my old team? And wakamatsu that was funny!
I will never understand Jim Joyce's fucking mustache
I will always hate Jim Joyce after the whole Galarraga incident.
***** Fuck him.
Why did Escobar get ejected
Because he was yelling according to the online report.
Why does Jim Joyce seem to be at the center of every controversy in MLB?
glad the royals get this out of the way at the beginning of the season. teams respect us now that they know we'll stick up for each other.
Luke Baker I like the royals, and I'm an A's fan, but these retaliations were absolute bush league. Lawrie slid in recklessly, and apologized for it, and the KC fans (and apparently some of their pitchers) couldn't get over it. Then they were doing the same shit to Toronto recently, throwing up and in to Donaldson and plunking a bunch of their players. So no, nobody respects the royals right now, because they have a chip on their shoulder and keep trying to retaliate with their 100mph pitchers. They're a talented team and don't need to resort to this type of stuff.
+Kevin Ehsani Lawrie was hit in the previous game by Ventura, everyone knew it was coming, Lawrie took it and didn't get upset about it, and that should have been the end of it. During the first inning of this game Cain is hit in the ankle in the first pitch of his plate appearance with two outs. It is possible that Kazmir hit Cain intentionally, but I could give him the benefit of the doubt.
+Kevin Ehsani As for the Donaldson thing, I don't think someone is going to intentionally hit a batter in a two run game to put a runner on second in the 7th pitch of the at bat.
+EL KORN DOG 1) it wasn't retaliation - it was a message 2) pathetic is allowing yourself to get shit on via continuous HBPs (Royals had more at that point in the season than any other team except the Rangers).
+catecurry Rios was not hit intentionally.
Hearing the Royals fans booing is like music to my ears.
It's as though the announcing crew expected this to happen, not even expressing shock at the retaliation or the ejection.
Adam Moreira They figured it would have happened anyways.
+Adam Moreira People who don't follow the Royals don't know all of the stuff leading up to that game. Royals batters were taking more HBPs than any other team except the Rangers (tied) and it was clear that some of the HBPs were intentional. One HBP removed Rios with a broken hand. One of our guys took a pitch to the jaw . . . . Lawrie slides recklessly, cleats up, into Escobar . . . . if you're going to take our players out with such tactics then why not brawl . . .
Wait why was Escobar tossed?
Any wild pitch that hits the backstop and rolls all the way back to the mound would have done some damage.
0:17 "Motherfucker"
How is it that Jim Joyce still has a job as an umpire?
He actually retired.
Maybe because he was widely viewed as one of the best, most consistent umpires up to the blown perfect game call?
You know nothing about baseball. Jim was a great umpire.
thats actually the best umpire crew just Joyce and Gibson alone could handle a game
Greg Gibson, the home plate umpire..........says bam! You gone!
Wakamatsu is generally a mellow guy, lol
Look who expels to Wakamatsu, the popular Jim Joyce, umpire that undid a no-hitter to Armando Galarraga. Is a Accident that has driven out Alcides Escobar, for be Venezuelan? In Venezuela you don't forget you, Joyce
I don't know what you are trying to say. Jim Joyce is the best umpire in the MLB according to the players and coaches.
Trevor Patience Jim Joyce is fair. His eyes are bad,IE all the bad calls he's made, but his head is in the right place.
Carmelo Gil Yeah, that's right, Jim Joyce has it out for all Venezuelan baseball players. What an idiotic assumption.
He's trying to say that Joyce blew the call on purpose because Galarraga is Venezuelan and that he also threw out Escobar for being Venezuelan as well. Fucking idiots will try to find racism in anything, its pathetic.
Who became acting manager after Yost and Wakamatsu were ejected? The hitting coach?
Rusty Kuntz looked to be the only one level-headed enough to keep people calm.
Seriously, best ump crew ever. Joyce and Gibson, the other guy idk his name but he’s good.
Marvin Hudson
Did Herrera get in trouble for pointing at his head saying he should've hit Lawrie in the head?
How do you know that's what he said? could of said "think about why I hit you" I'm not saying he didn't say that but we don't know for sure. LOL
Herrera was suspended 5 games.
Royals sure do like to start a lot of shit
Chase M how did they start it kazmir hit cain on the foot first which pitchers say they do sometimes if they mean to hit someone but not make it look bad
jesse beeghly Getting hit on the foot is nothing like getting hit on the elbow, then getting a pitch thrown behind you near your head. That's bush league. You can take issue with Lawrie's slide, but he apologized for that and had no interest in continuing that war, but the Royals kept pushing it.
it was behind his back look again but even the best pitchers ever to be in the league have said that they sometimes throw at the feet to stay in the game but still brush the players back and that was kazmirs only really bad pitch that game just saying it looks suspicious
+Kevin Ehsani Lawrie apologized? Lawrie was sorry? Herrera didn't miss; his throw hit its mark. It's called sending a message: "Hey, we could be carelessly stupid like you are and put guys out of the game but we don't. So maybe, Lawrie, you shouldn't" Lawrie didn't apologize, he just said he did. Lawrie wasn't sorry. Lawrie spent more time in front of the cameras during that series trying to play the victim than he spent actually playing baseball. Lawrie is emblematic of what's wrong with the A's this year. Lawrie doesn't play for his team; he plays for himself. His actions on and off the field during that episode revealed to all that he's a narcissistic fool.
catecurry amen to that
i'm so shocked.... kc playing dirty and instigating.... I am unsarcastically shocked that it wasn't ventura though
Who was playing dirty? Are you a seeing human being?
reformcongress L
F u
You're an idiot
You don't know the context or history GTFO. LOL
what i dont get when herrera threw that pitch it was at kc i think y were they celebrateing that he got thrown out was it cause he deserved it no that cant be it or that kev almost hit him if they did clap cuz of that that aint nice u shouldnt clap just cause u almostnhit a dude
I am very suprised that the royals won that game
Alex Greer Why? With their unfortunately good hitting and pitching, anything is possible with the Royals.
I was suprised that on how many good pitchers they lost in that game
I'm a Phillies fan, but I'm glad that Herrera got thrown out by Gibson, that was a disgraceful display of trying to hurt Lawrie by throwing at him. Horrible display. I don't care much for retaliation because it only gets people hurt.
2:57 hahahhahahahahahahahahahhahahahahhahaha
francobobfred 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
francobobfred What
Royals deserved it
