Greb gibson the homeplate umpire motioning to both teams and the teams are not celebrating in their dugouts
I know this is a meme at this point but Greg Gibson, the home plate umpire, did a really good job here.
Greg Gibson, the home plate umpire, did a good job keeping this from breaking out in a fight.
2:56 I’m already gone 🤣🤣
Oh look, Greg Gibson the Home Plate umpire.
Ryland Motioning to both players
Lol
The dodgers celebrating in their dugout
In the corner... Nice catch for out number 2!
I'm a wizard from the future
Greg Gibson, the home plate umpire, strikes again
Darn it. Greg Gibson motioned to both dugouts but no one celebrated in their dugouts
MacAttack stolen comment
Herrera throws a 100mph pitch behind Lawrie, even after Lawrie was plunked the day before. Then Herrera points at his head... and the fans cheer for him.
Stay classy, KC.
gcannon12 Fuckoff. He deserves everything that happened to him. That little fucking cry baby.
How do you know what Herrera said? Are you really upset because somebody pointed at his head?
You forgot to mention when Cain got hit too which prompted to this happening. I don't want to case trouble but that is important to know.
Cain was hit in the foot. If Kazmir wanted to hit him, he would have aimed highter.
gcannon12 Repeating just for A'hole fans that are hard of hearing: Everything was squared when Ventura plunked Lawrie in Saturday night's game. But the Oakland A'holes stirred the crap up again on Sunday, when Kazmir (a pitcher with excellent control) hit Cain.
Herrera as just trying to get through the A'holes hard heads (that's why Kelvin pointed at his head after throwing at Lawrie) that Royals pitchers will defend their hitters.
Herrera also wanted the A'holes to remember that almost ALL of the Royals pitchers throw 100+ mph fastballs.
I know that typically that umpires and players in sports aren't suppose to touch each other. In this case I was glad to see what Gibson did in this situation. It halted the situation from getting any worse and helped keep things from boiling over.
Hey! It's Greg Gibson, the HOME PLATE UMPIRE!
Umpire yelling “bullshit!!” to KCs manager 😂😂
Six words Greg Gibson the home plate umpire.
Wait, is that Greg Gibson? The home plate umpire?
Omg greg going back at it again motioning to both players
4:53 Would have been funny if Greg Gibson threw out the pitcher for making contact lol
I love watching these baseball fights/ ejections.
+tomatoesinspace Gee, I thought I was the only one. LOL
Even Jim Joyce isn't pleased with what happens - gotta note that at 3:58, he says,"...such BS I've ever seen"
Good read on that
KC Royals, most unclassy team in baseball, always need to start a fight when someone gets hit whether is intentional or not. Their fans make excuses for everything. At the same time everyone is just mad they didn't win the world series.
toonces4x You are an Angels fan. Am I right?
Deborah Davis what does that have to do with it, that they got swept. No, were over that. Im biased but I think Angels are one of the better teams at shaking it off and not starting anything
You say you are over but we ALL know what's what. You folks are in denial about your trauma - denial is a river in Egypt and you poor souls need to build a bridge to get over it! A's fans, Angels fans and O's fans have not fully recovered from the PTSD that results from CHOKING and losing BADLY to an opponent that these teams, their fans, MLB and the media in general considered far beneath the favorites!
After several more seasons of play-offs and counseling and therapy, you poor, pathetic traumatized A's, Angels and O's fans will learn to accept the feelings of disappointment that you have with your teams and you will not feel the need to lash out at MLB's KC Royals (formerly known as those "Loveable, Laughable Losers").and their proud fandom. Until then, I bid you all joy and a fare-the-well. TTFN.
Deborah Davis Angels fan?! HAH you wish, although I have to say, wayyyy better team then the Royals when it comes to professionalism and class. The Royals maybe the team with the best record right now but they are also the most pathetic team as of now, they start shit and blame the other teams like the A's and White Sox and blame them for starting it. And if anyone needs counseling its the Royals fans because they didn't get beat by a team but they got dominated by only one player and now they are taking their frustrations out on other teams. At least the A's, Angels, and Orioles got beat by a team and not just one player. Although it was a team that turned out to be the biggest poor sports in baseball.
toonces4x
Yeah, you're right about them looking real professional - professional losers.....
Umpires did a great job deescalating this.
greg gibson the home plate umpire finally getting into some action lol
It's hard to look tough when you're in a powder blue uniform...
It's hard to look tough when you get bitchy even by a ball that didn't even hit you
+Kreamations ★ but he complained like a little bitch about a ball that didn't hit him.
+Benny Lee if that hit him in the head he'd be dead. Stop acting like you're tough when you can't even get off the couch.
+Kreamations ★ is your butt hurting right now
+Kreamations ★ yeah. these Royals fans are a peculiar kind of stupid. good luck with it. they piss and piss about a clean slide where their guy got hurt and then try and defend two straight games of their pitchers trying to end this guy's career. disgusting people if you ask me
Lawrie couldn't get hit with enough pitches imo.
I think the best part to me was seeing Jim Joyce saying "bullshit" about ten times to Wakamatsu lol
That's stupid for Herrera to point at his head. That's threatening someone.
I love when the bullpens just stand in the outfield like: bitch do something and we're there in about 10 seconds.
I saw this game with Royals commentary and they were talking about how the Royals are "defending" themselves. I was so mad I had to put the game on mute so I didn't feel the need to break something. The Royals have been in the most fights in the MLB and they think they are the good guys. This is why I hate them.
Hunter E4 thats why everyone hates them
Lawrie hit Escobar cleats up intentionally and was screaming at Perez who is a puppy dog because he hit a homer off of him. They were indeed defending themselves. Lawrie is a tool anyway
Bullpen conversation at 0:45
-"Should we go out there?"
-"Nah we wouldn't make it on time"
-"Let's go to the outfield, that'll give us a head start if something happens."
Payback for Escobar would have been Herrera going at Lawrie's ankle/shin. If you are playing eye-for-an-eye then know which end of the body the lesson is for.
Tell me that Royals pitcher was suspended.
+Chase M 5 games, that's it
Wow, he pointed at the guys head.
+Chase M And what does pointing at the head say to you?
+catecurry Herrera is one of the hardest throwing pitchers in the league. He hits 99-101 on almost every fastball. The point to the head, meant that he had all intentions/will throw one of those fastballs at his head. That's why he should've gotten more then just 5 games. He should be out for the whole year honestly
+hokeyrulz26 I know how fast Herrera pitches. When Hererra pointed to his head he was telling Lawrie to think about what he was doing. Lawrie's excuse for sliding cleats up into Escobar was he was playing hard. He justified what he did, then said he texted Escobar an apology (he didn't) & ended by trashing Escobar (claimed Escobar sent something objectionable in Spanish . . . seriously! why is it players like Lawrie & Strickland are always "accusing" Latin American players of "speaking Spanish" when most of them can & do speak and write English??) & KC fans during interviews. Lawrie was being reckless & he has a reputation for being a jerk; he certainly was while in KC (we don't even feel that way about the SF Giants who were pretty decent when they were out around the Plaza). Maybe Lawrie should consider baseball where other players, including pitchers who throw 100 mph play like Herrera does, have the same attitude towards other players as Lawrie has - anything goes even if another player gets hurt. That was Hererra's "message" & it's one Lawrie should heed. Amongst other players, Lawrie doesn't have many friends & he is his own worst enemy.
Laughing at everyone who thought the Royals were a one hit wonder at the beginning of this season. Now they're hoisting a championship banner.
+Ryan Thurston Your 2nd championship in 30 years... congratu-fucking-lations! George Brett was starting to get embarrassed at how long your team were fucking bottom dwellers all this time.
By the way, Let us know when you get the 9 championships the A's have. That's going to take another 60 years probably. Lmao fucking bums.
+Kevin Ehsani probably take another 60 years for your team to get one if you're lucky
+Kevin Ehsani
The A's have one WS in the past 40 years. The A's, while in Oakland, have won 4. You have won 9 championships and are in their 115th year. They are in their third city and have one of the worst stadiums every. The Royals are in their 47th year and have 2 championships. You have to put it in perspective here. Also, as long as you have Beane as a GM you won't be winning any championships anytime soon, but man your payroll will be low.
+whyamimrpink78 The funny thing is that everyone thinks I'm a Royals fan.
+Kevin Ehsani The butthurt is real
Greg Gibson the Home plate umpire motioning at Kelvin Herrera.
This happened April 19, 2015. Why isn't the date being supplied on these MLB films?
Can some please educate me? Why is Lawrie being targeted by KC?
Lawrie slid into second really hard and injured Escobar in an earlier game
After Ventura (KC) hit Lawrie everything seemed even, but the next day Kazmir (OAK) hit Cain (KC), so this happened later in the game.
Em Jay Enn lawrie deserved to be hit once cus he made a bad slide but the royals keep on going at it like children
Justin Myers Everything was squared when Ventura plunked Lawrie in Saturday night's game.
Deborah Davis lmao get a clue you clown. This is the same team that just had a bunch more players suspended for a fight vs the White Sox a week later because the pitcher said fuck you to a guy after he hit a comebacker up the middle which may be the most retarded thing i've ever seen. Apparently you aren't allowed to hit a ball up the middle when you're playing the Royals. And I remember one of their pitchers talking shit to Trout and clearing the benches earlier. Mike Trout who is an honest player and one of the nicest guys in the league. The Royals are absolutely pathetic as are their fans.
I'm on Lawrie's side because he was already plunked and took the base with class. Then for some insurmountable reason the Royals' feelings were still hurt so they threw at him again. If you had told me three years ago that I would hate the Royals in the future, I would laugh.
P.S. Does Herrera know his hat is crooked? Looks stupid
Screw Lawrie...he should have been beamed for that bullshit slide
@@Hafrican07 They already drilled him for the slide. It should’ve been been over right then. But then they threw at him again.
Of course the fans would start chanting after their Pitcher points at his head.
That ump was fuming more than anyone, damn, haha!!!
KC has been bad for this for this year
of all people....Lawrie??? It would have been great to see Lawrie beat him down a little. Herrera is like Ventura, they act tough when all the teammates come around. It's the "hold me back" speech like a few players of today do.
Herrera is older & big enough to take care of himself. All Lawrie did during that series was do TV interviews & whine. Claimed he apologized to Escobar but he didn't. Lawrie is emblematic of what's wrong with the A's this year. Royals fans have nothing to be ashamed of since we don't have to claim Brett Lawrie.
Lawrie is to the Royals as Utley is to the Mets. Ironically the two played in the world series that season.
Greg Gibson the home plate umpire... what would he have done?
I love the fan that yelled "you still suck lawrie"
Really glad my Indians are sticking it to the Royals this year..
That ump is dank af😂
Greg Gibson the Homeplate Umpire motions to the Athletics dugout and told them to stay there.
If the situation was continuing to get worse and worse, especially with both the A's and the Royals trying to get back at each other, they should have just called off the game right there. It was starting to very ugly, and this was the straw that broke the camel's back.
***** The police come onto the field to watch for any fans coming out of the stands. It has nothing to do with the players on the field.
Hahaha, the straw that broke the camels back..? That's a first,
+Johnny Roberts I hope you stuck around for the remainder of the season . . . Baltimore . . . Texas in Toronto . . . best not to get too concerned too early in the season and in 2016, pay attention to the HPBs.
I love the fake outrage from Wakamatsu. WTF are you arguing about? Go sit down.
And Jim Joyce, you let him have it.
Gibson's not motioning to both players, he's throwing Herrera out
Hurry winter I am missing the game already
Royals are the dirtiest team in the league. Their pitchers start this shit all the time.
Ventura does. Not others. And no, we are not the dirtiest team
Yes, you absolutely are the dirtiest team in the league.
+Adam Schrag who's we? Are you on the roster?
+Adam Schrag no, Ian Kennedy has no such history
+Adam Schrag only ventura. that's funny because this video clip we're commenting on was Kelvin Herrera. so apparently only Ventura, Herrera, and the worst of the bunch, Kennedy
hot heads from the DR what a surprise
This is why I don't want the DH around. Herrera comes to the plate, I'm beaning him
Yes, but Herrera is also a relief pitcher so he never is gonna bat
Jim Joyce AND Greg Gibson?!?! I can die a happy man
early in the game, Laurie slid hard into Escobar that started all this crap.
I think that was a different game earlier in the series. Lawrie was already plunked by Ventura. And Kazmir I think threw a pitch low and hit one of the Royals in the foot. And the Royals decided to go after Lawrie again.
Royals were the most undeserving team to win the world series
good good
Lol. Explain this one to me. We had multiple comebacks. We never gave up. Yes, Herrera throwing behind Lawrie here was unnecessary, but you can't say we didn't deserve it
didnt deserve it
+tim wong watch Lawrie slides into Escobar and injured him earlier in the game. dirty slide just like Bautista did to Odor.
+Thok Masta Jose slid right at the base it's not his fault if bitch ass odor doesn't know ho to get out of the way
What happened at 2:08 that got the crowd booing?
Lol...That pitch would have done some damage. I don't think I've ever seen a wild pitch roll back to the mound.
Kansas City fans should be ashamed of themselves. I am an A's fan and if one of our pitchers purposely tried hitting someone in the head with a 100 mph fastball, I would not be proud to be an A's fan. Lawrie already got hit the day before. I know one of the Royals players got hit in the foot but who tries to intentionally hit a player with a breaking ball?
I feel like I am the only Royals fan who thinks the Royals need to cool their damn jets.
IrishRunner28 Herrera did not purposefully try to hit Lawrie in the head with a 100 mph fastball. Apparently, after reviewing the film and taking all of the video evidence into consideration, the MLB commission agreed and decided that Herrera's actions were only worth a five game suspension. Watch the video from both the front and back angles. If Herrera had intentionally tried to hit Lawrie in the head with a 100 mph fastball, not only would the ejection likely have been much, much longer, Herrera likely would have face criminal charges as what you are suggesting is that Herrera intended to do serious bodily harm to Lawrie that could have resulted in his death.
I am proud to be a Royals fan. The Friday evening before Lawrie recklessly slid on his best asset, feet up into Escobar rather than second base, we Royals fans cheered wildly for an A's player receiving his AL Championship ring. We routinely honor other teams' players who reach milestones while playing at Kauffman. We appreciate a good play and we don't want to see any player get hurt. But we also stand up for our players and behind our players 100%. When we see them taking hits from pitchers and our batters with the highest averages are taking the HPB's at disproportionate rates, we start to analyze each occurrence. Now, when we believe any of our batters is being hit intentionally, we react. There is in fact an explicit rule in MLB's rule book that has yet to be enforced regarding intentionally hitting batsmen with pitches; we hope this will change as, by paying better attention to certain data, flagging instances where pitches are intentionally meant to hit the batsmen can be readily identified and flagged for review by the umpires immediately.
For all of your anonymous keyboard bravado and spinning of facts into a false narrative, here are some facts, today the As are at the bottom of the AL rankings and the Royals are at the top in spite of several injuries and ejections. Our guys will calm down and focus. Most Royals fans wish events had played out differently but understand why they played out as they did. Royals fans will not waiver. Our love for this team has suffered far worse.
+IrishRunner28 Agree they also tried to hid josh donaldson 3x and troy tulowitzki.
+KazumiRioseHRx What are you talking about?
KazumiRioseHRx It really cracks me up how some fans try to feel sorry for Donaldson. When you are a homerun hitter who hugs the plate, expect to brushed back. Volquez is a veteran pitcher who has seen everything. Most pitchers who know the strategy of baseball would have done the same thing . If not, then there's a strong possibility Donaldson would have hit one out of the park. Josh knows the risk of leaning over the plate over and over again. Is Donaldson a cry baby? He sure acted like it that day. As for as Ventura goes, he is a different pitcher who has cooled down.....finally! He's won 5 out of his last 7 outings. (as of the of August) How many Royals have been hit lately?? About half as many as earlier. Guess that goes to show that standing up for your teammates makes a difference. I think the message was loud and clear. You F*ck with us and you will pay the price. As for Herrera., he told KC Star's Andy McCullough that his grip slipped on that pitch and to "think about it". (that's why his explanation was, but obviously not received so. Personally I think Herrera's pitch was probably intentional, but not intended for the upper body. It should have stopped when Ventura hit Lawrie the night before. Ventura has made great strides and is much calmer.
I remember in high school watching all the games from this series. What made it even worse was game 1 started out so heartfelt. When Billy Butler game onto the field, his first time back in KC since the previous season, the whole stadium gave him a standing ovation (even when he get a hit on us we cheered just from the love we had for him).
Then Brett Lawhrie had to go and do what pro sports players for Oakland typically do and make a dirty play, taking out Esky’s legs, while sliding into second, in a play that should’ve gotten him ejected - but didn’t.
I know most people will fall on the side of “Just play the game and don’t start fights, let it go, etc.” but my love for this team grew so much after this. The attitude of “You mess with one of us, you mess with all of us” is the kind of friendship that this team had, and it’s the kind of attitude that all sports teams, as well as society in general, is missing now a days.
Exactly. I was at one of the games when I was younger.
as much as I wanted to see a brawl follow, great job by the umps from letting that happen
why was Greg Gibson, the home-plate umpire, motioning to just one dugout??
The fact is, Herrera is trying to start and do something that was over last game when Ventura beaned Lawrie. Okay. But they're mad because Lawrie showed class. But I hope to see Herrera bean Lawrie in oaktown. He'll be a dead son of a bitch whether Athletics get him or the fans. AND WTF White sox and Royals yesterday April 23 wtf was that about?
Stay Classy KC.
Zack Fontaine White Sux trying to steal a page from the A'holes playbook - hit a player (Moustakas on Thursday) in the face, then try to act like it never happened. Just like in Game 1 of the season, the Sux hit Cain after Morales or Rios hit a fat one over the wall at the K, then tried to play like they have Alzheimer's
Also, the A'holes apparently unloaded a lot of the loser players that choked in the 2014 WC Game to the Chicago area teams. Apparently, these loser players are suffering from PTSD and are still trying to recover from the injuries (sore asses) sustained in the choking incident.
Oh wait, who did these traumatized former A'holes play in the WC Game?....Who was it? Oh, I remember - it was the Kansas City Royals!
Deborah Davis Lifelong Giants fan here. Thought you guys were classy in the WS last year. But my gosh you are whiny and your team has a great record!
One player shouldn't represent our whole team because I think everyone else is really classy. Ventura needs to grow up I agree. Also eaton on the sox started the fight by talking to Ventura and he said something back. Once again something unneeded for him to say back but I mean Eaton brought it on.
Royals got the last laugh with a win and world series win
+Brett Fletchall Doesnt change the fact that Herrera is a piece of shit and the Royals are a cancerous unsportsmanlike team.
+PersianSelection still won it all
+Brett Fletchall .....that was a year b'4 they won the series...they lost to the Giants...there again, Royal fan don't remember shit'
+Dan Pagan This Happened during the 2015 season
+Dan Pagan the hell you talking about?
Greg Gibson is my hero.
Greg Gibson the home plate umpire gesturing to wakamatsu to leave the game
I'd laugh if Lawrie got traded to the Royals before the trade deadline this year lol
If he did I would probably just cry then instead of cheering for lawrie just boo for him
The Royals have a way better third baseman. I'm sure the As would love get rid of him though.. They got screwed on that trade.
+Joe Lyon Absolutely no way the Royals would take Lawrie. You can take that to the bank. The Royals have passed on better options than Lawrie over concerns of "clubhouse fit" and, in retrospect, those decisions seem to have been the correct decisions.
lawrie should have charged the mound there he would have killed that pitcher
Child, please.
Haha child please
Jim Joyce "Oh Bullshit!" @3:17
Greg Gibson, the home plate umpire, motioning to both teams, and no-body is celebrating in the dugout
Nobody has ever deserved a championship less than the punk players and fans of KC
Lol. Well they won anyway so suck it.
Classy
I'm glad you feel that way 😁
+Philip Flory If Lawrie never injured Escobar on that take-out slide, this would not have happened. It's baseball. Every team does this.
"deserve"? they played and they won. wasn't given to them
There are a few KC players I really like but parasites like Herrera and Ventura give the team such a bad name.
Brant Just Brant Ok? Congrats, you are encouraging parasites still...
Jim Joyce is literally the best umpire! He is really nice and funny
+Devon Watrous What the fuck are you smoking? Joyce is one of the worst umps ever
+hokeyrulz26 Not according to the players.
+Devon Watrous He is the reason we have replay
+Nathan H Uh, No, since umpires across the board missing a bunch of calls in the playoffs the 2012 season and in the span of a week the next year were what got replay in MLB.
Uh, yes. He blew a pitchers perfect game with 2 outs in the 9th. He called a guy safe at first who was clearly out. It was the worst call I've seen in my life.
You don't point at your head after throwing at someone. That's bush league. That's a suspension needed for sure.
Jim Joyce is a baller. Best ump in the game.
He is not one to be outdone on the anger level in an argument.
Zach Too bad many were idiotic enough to judge him on one blown call rather than his consistently good performance as an ump.
Intentionally throwing AT batters is UNACCEPTABLE.
IF MLB would hand out MEANINGFUL SUSPENSIONS & FINES, they could put an end to "headhunting."
I believe the MLBPA would have to be onboard first. And that will never happen
Whoa! Jim Joyce and Greg Gibson in the same video? Meme central. We need Joe West and Angel Hernandez to complete the crew for full effect!
Maybe these situations would decrease if teams knew that both the Pitcher AND the Catcher would get ejected.
If Lawrie was salty that we won a pennant, woo boy he's gonna be MAD AS HELL now. :D
Today is the anniversary for this game!!!!
Even the catcher was like "What the fuck man"!
Herrera threw a fastball letter high that probably would've hit Lawrie in the shoulder, so stop saying it was aimed at his head when it clearly wasn't
TAKE away the DH. make pitchers bat
Jason Ball I think that the DH is useful for sluggers that can't field to well. The pitcher is almost always an easy out. Most teams just use pinch hitters.
I would guess that just leads to relievers being sent in to plunk, then being pinch hit for before they could get hit.
Jason Ball They do in the National League. Ian Kennedy intentionally hit Puig in the face and then Grienke in the helmet and missed 1 start last year. The key is to do it with Starting pitchers....like Jeff Samardja and Chris Sale because when they get 5 game suspensions, it can be handled without them really even missing a start.
How about no? Fuck the pitcher batting. It seems cool. But it's actually fuckin stupid and just means a guaranteed out nearly every single time. Stop caring about traditions.
Jason Ball Fuck no.
LET'S GO ROYALS! #GOKC
Lauren, the Royals can go any damn time they want!
If MLB wants to start getting serious about tossing people AFTER warnings have been issued, they should start throwing out the pitcher, manager, and the catcher. Most teams don't carry more than 2 catchers on a roster, and most times the catcher is aware of the plan to throw at a hitter.
Sad to see as both teams are related and have a rich history through the Athletics, Monarchs. Like Brothers fighting, just sad to watch.
Royals were hungry that year
Dyson's scrawny ass would get beat by the A's bat boy but the umpires did a great job seizing control immediately knowing coaches really don't so shit
Yes
Love how Gibson told the as dugout to stay there after herreira was ejected but as he makes the gesture about lawries head they all come out like " hey if we all walk out this idiot won't toss all of us" 😭😂
Smart man, Greg Gibson!
Don't look here, just winnin a world series! :)
Royals fan speaking:)
Everyone thinks kc fans are mad we didn't win the World Series...I think we will take a ws game 7 and the best team in the al after 30 years:)
What the hell could KC's manager possibly be arguing about? That Herrera shouldn't have been thrown out of the game after throwing behind a guy after warnings were already issued? Sit down
He good umpire give him credit for keeping teams in check with no fights
After Lawrie got hit, it looked like some WWE shit was about to go down
That was funny what jim joyce said to wakamatsu he said oh bullshit Don
If this happened today the umpires would of had a meeting and Jim Joyce the crew chief would of ejected and warned both teams and pitchers. The problem I have with that is when the umps are meeting it everything could of boiled over .
Greg Gibson, the home plate umpire, motioning to both players.
What happened at 2:08?
I'm not great at reading lips, can anyone tell what Jim Joyce was saying after he tossed the acting manager?
This is the only video where it would've been acceptable to play the greg gibson outro
