Jim Leyland was one of my favorite managers even though I'm not a Tigers fan. His level of enthusiasm reminds me of Earl Weaver (and I'm not O's fan either).
I am a Tigs fan too...and yes just watching the game in real time let alone with replays on tv you can tell hes clearly out...Leyland was mad because the Ump with the best view called him safe, but the home plate umpire, with no view of the play, helped to overturn the original call.
And if you fucked up on the job, I assure you someone would be in your face telling you...….that you fucked up. This was shitty umpiring on the 1B umpires part...….and Leyland had a right to dress the lazy ass down.
@@gretzkysyotes BS, everyone wants the umpires to get the call correct.....unless the call goes against your team. There is nothing wrong with getting help from another umpire when you are unsure of your call. Other than missing the initial call, the umpires did nothing wrong.
I hear you, but I'm an umpire myself and these situations happen more than you think. The home plate ump is supposed to watch the play up the line to look for a swipe tag or pulled foot because the first base ump usually can't see it from his angle. Admittedly, it doesn't look good for an umpire to be in this spot. What normally happens is the ump will go immediately for help, or say something like "safe, if his foot was on," then go for help to confirm it and then reiterate the call.
The right call was out after the Toronto Blue Jays manager came to the field. The first base umpire did a bad choice for adding Jim Leyland to join in for arguing.
On the Sportsnet side, Pat Tabler knew the minute he walked away from Ed, Alfonzo was going to get an earful from Leyland. This is a textbook example of a manger getting his monies worth.
I followed a link from the latest Phoo Paa call from another Ump! All these late and bad calls in baseball make me wonder how much of a "Kick Back" the Officials are getting from Gamblers when the Odds get too high?
Aaaaand because it’s a Tigers player they easily reverse the call. If it was the other way around no way in hell they reverse in fact they’ll throw out 3 Tigers players and 2 coach’s. FACTS! I’ve seen this movie too many times and no one is going to convince me otherwise.
in this case, the first base ump indicated a pulled foot, which is why he called him safe. When he was questioned on it, he asked the UIC (home plate) for help on whether he held his foot on the bag. That's why he reversed his call to an out. Umpires can absolutely change their call in these cases.
@@amandad5208 The first base umpire had a brain fart, it happens. Ultimately they got the call right and that is what you would want, isn't it? Everybody wants the umpires to get the call right unless the right call goes against your team. Instant replay would have come up with the same result.
Watching Leyland argue is probably the most fun you can have for free.
He may not blow a gasket like Girardi, but it is fun watching him become animated when he argues his point.

I'm surprised Leyland didn't get a heart attack. LOL.
Gonna miss ya, Jim!
This is the best sh*t I've seen in years. God, I love baseball.
What a entertainer Jim Leyland was.
The look of Dirk's smirk is priceless!
Absolutely
Greatest manager in baseball right now... Hands down. A fan favorite.
Jim is a good manager
We'll miss you Skipper!
can't stop laughing.... hahahhaha leyland is funny.
there was a lot of um 'beeps' in that conversation lol
i love the look on dirks and brooken's faces...as they are trying to not laugh

The HP plate had a good look at the play and they got the call right. Leland is an asshole.

The replay of the ejection shows the Blue Jays players laughing.
Leyland is so funny with those hand signals
Man I miss Jim Leyland!
If I didn’t know leylands name I would’ve assumed he was Italian with all the hand movements lmao
I miss Jim leyland so much
I remember watching that game. Leyland getting ejected laughed my butt off

Ed Rapuano was in awe of Aaron Hill's defensive play. lol
i cant stop laughing
Jim is a smoker that always concerned me. Love him so much, don't want him to get too worked up over stupid calls, and in in baseball there are many.

maybe if the ump spit his chew out and payed more attention to the game he would have gotten it right
Stay on the couch, Homer
I may be a huge Tigers fan but he was out all the way to Manhattan.
I miss a manager that commanded respect now we have BRAD AUSMUS... AAAAAHHHHHHH
ausmus sucks as manager and sucked just as bad as a player
Lossmus
That out was even more clear than when Andreas Galaragga got robbed of his perfect game.
On the Sportsnet side, Pat Tabler knew the minute he walked away from Ed, Alfonzo was going to get an earful from Leyland. This is a textbook example of a manger getting his monies worth.
Manager acting like an idiot* . Fixed it for you
And the Oscar goes to
My Old-School Manager, Jim Leyland! I’m Sorry That was OUT!
Haha I love this !
Im a tigers fan and he was out

There's no convincing you that you're a moron
Stop your pathetic crying.
@@zachreese6540 If I wanted your dumb F opinion I’d beat it of you, nimrod. Smh…

i miss weaver
He had a special ed moment
Jim and Sparky were the best..
Have the nerve to say something ! lol
I love leyland and how did that blind ump call him safe
Old school skipper
Good ol leyland
he always does, he gets ejected a lot
He probably went back to his office and smoked a carton of cigarettes.
Best
It doesn't matter how they arrived at the decision, they got the call right and that is all that matters. Leyland made a fool of himself.
No, he didn't. The ump did. The ump is the one who caused all of this with his shoddy call.

I miss Leyland!!! Although I think Ausmus has put together a better team in his second year!
DAMN! Leyland really got his money's worth after getting ejected.
He didn't just get his money's worth..... he won the Lottery with that show after his ejection.
Walk with Elias

Ha! "Jim Joyce moment". Well deserved - he's an ass. Hide behind your union Jim.
+alkaline933 You do know Jim Joyce is constantly voted one of the best by the players don't you?
