26 to like first to comment. OK, this is unusual because these people call people that refuse to inspect it. That should have been your first clue, something was horribly wrong.
@@angelofthelight6650 Congrats on being first to comment! Yes, such a sad story. Thanks for watching and feel free to share.
@@angelofthelight6650 if they had ties to the company it would be a conflict of interest issue .
This is one of the saddest ones I've ever seen.. even though I will never have a motorhome like that it's heartbreaking
No one mentions how much one of those costs probably their whole life savings and they will never get repaid for things like miss your kids graduation
Not ONLY should Winnebago do a complete buyback. These folks deserve some serious compensation.....right away!
Dont buy older new RVs on the lot .. stick it to them
Hey Winnebago, I'd NEVER buy anything from you, you and Thor are disgraceful bed buddies 💀
you misspelled "bedbugs"
Winnebago should apologize and buy it back, no questions if they want to save their reputation!
Indeed. Since the mistake was made at the factory, they should make it right by replacing it, if not just buying it back. Thanks for your comment, Sarah!
Winnebago is too heavily leveraged to make good on there poor products. They are like Thor industries.
Such a shame. I thought Winniebago was top notch. Its the only one i would buy.
I think their reputation is dead.
@@earlhunt2815 Did you watch the WHOLE video? Winnebago owns Grand Design. If they, Grand Design, won't do right, then Winnebago is damn sure not coming to their rescue. Like someone else suggested, boycott this company and build your own. A converted livestock trailer is looking pretty good right now.
I was THIS close to buying a Winnebago class A from my local dealer! I walked away because of this!!
@@bobp64014You will never regret the decision. Good move on your part. Good luck.
Bob, whatever you purchase get in professionally inspected.... I've owned campers, tt, since the 70s... The quality of all aspects has been sucked completely out of what we end up with. High end coaches included
These posts are almost certainly lies. You probably have never even been in an RV.
& your offer of all your money ($5.82) was turned down.
@@bobp64014 Because of one bad experience? What about those that have had good experiences???
Looks like they need a Lemon Law for RVs. Time to talk to your Congressman.
They’re too busy, focussing on other irrelevant things.
I TOTALLY AGREE!!! This is a desperate necessity.
Congress tried to pass one but the RV industry fought it
@@norm5785
You mean lobbyists brought them out
Its a state thing. Virginia gave me mixed signals. Pennsylvania only does it for residents.
You are literally dumping money into the trash when you buy these RVs.
Many people do, when they don't use them, And it's sad to say that our service men and women buy them and hardly use them cause they are always being deployed and when they do come back, some of them prefer to get a newer one and all they paid for the last one is all gone.
My cousin uses his Airstream. He despises hotels and motels.
The RV industry is on its deathbed. Service is so poor that I can not recommend anyone buy an RV unless they are going to work on it themselves.
Go for small independent RV builders for sure. Thanks for watching.
Disagree completely
You are absolutely correct 👍. Don’t buy protection plans if you are good at fixing things
@@kenmeinke2753 Why do you disagree?
It isn’t on its deathbed whatsoever. People keep buying this trash and the industry acts accordingly.
I’m not buying the “I can’t fly excuse.” If you can drive hours in a RV you can fly 3 hours to your son’s graduation. The RV issue is terrible and I support the issue. Winnebago needs to buy it back. The rest is drama.
It was bizarre. And why can’t he drive a car or minivan? Makes no sense.
I’m not buying your dismissive comment! The F’ing point is that when you buy a $200,000 RV, it should be roadworthy from the moment you pick it up🙄🙄🙄
@@johnnyrabenold6133 Like I said, this video is about an RV manufacturer once again totally screwing their customers, so instead of acting like a petulant “child” and trying to manufacture irrelevant side issues, just stick to the point of the discussion🙄
@@johnnyrabenold6133 So a $200,000 dollar RV shouldn't be roadworthy from the moment you pick it up? Talk about not making sense.
@@stevez340 you might want to watch the video again and listen to what he said, Bubbah.
Once the pride of the manufacturing world, America has lost its way.
Indeed. I hope they wake up and do so much better. Thanks for watching!
that was the 50s...things are not like that any more. i shudder to think what we will look like in another 50 years
I’m not sure I agree with your sentiments, having seen my friends RV it’s build quality was dreadful compared to my German RV. America certainly doesn’t lead the world in quality. 🇬🇧
American manufacturing is fine. Lumping it in with RVs is like saying china makes only junk, knowing full well they make a lot of junk but also can manufacture precision devices like your smartphone.
@@patty109109 China makes what you pay for ...if you pay 3k for a phone you will get hte best phone money can buy from them. I dont remember anything made by the states that are high quality any more. even our food is garbage now
They couldn't rent a car and stay in a hotel for their kid's grad??? Give me a break!!!
Yep! They lost my sympathy when they went down that road. How about hopping on a Greyhound bus to get to your child's graduation? If they wanted to be there, they would have made it. This was a bit of martyrdom.
@@scottmichaels12 I was a little skeptical on that one too, but it doesn't take anything away from the leaky motorhome they are currently stuck with.
That was my thought too. I would charge hell with a water pistol for my daughter and granddaughter. Take up your fight with Winnebago afterwards.
He explained his health issue.
@@dianwarden6171But he can drive a motor home for hours.
I was interested in getting an RV, but these stories make me furious. You get a 100 times better warranty from a 35k car!
Don't be afraid of getting an RV.
Just be sure not to buy anything made after 2019
I sympathize with them on the Wreckebago they bought. That said I don't understand how he can't sleep in anything but a 40-foot motor home because he had a work-related injury and that caused them to miss their son's graduation.
If he could ride in a motorhome, he could take a charter bus to his son's graduation. Winnebago definitely screwed them over, but they were playing the victim with the son's graduation thing. That's where they lost my sympathy.
@@scottmichaels12 Or take the train. Personally I don't get the thing about graduations. You go and sit in an auditorium or stadium (at a big university) and maybe see your kid walk across the stage from 50 yards away (if you are lucky). Personally I didn't bother to go to my own graduations. I had the degree certificates mailed to me. For my BS they didn't even read the names of the 7,000+ people in my graduating class.
@@todddunn945 HAHAHA. I walked for my BA but didn’t for my Masters. It’s actually a waste of time, but few people feel that way.
I dont know a thing about RV's but I watch your channel all the time and would never , ever buy anything made in the last few years .
I'd go and buy an inspected used pre 2018 model.
Thanks for having an awesome channel.
Good for you! Thanks for your support!! Feel free to share this video to help its impact.
This
disrupting an industry has to be the most gratifying thing you can do in the business world. nice job Liz, I doubt you ever thought you would be a mover and shaker in an industry but , wow, way to go. !!!
I had a 17-foot trailer a few years ago but got rid of it because 1) it was so small, and 2) very dark inside. I then started looking at Class B's and C's but decided life would be better if I simply drove my car and stayed in motels.
There you go. Thanks for your comment, Dan!
Brilliant, there you go .
I've had some really bad experiences in motels. The last 3 motels I stayed in, two were terrible. Good luck with that! One of the most terrible was the LaQuinta right across the road from the Tampa RV show. Be warned everyone, don't stay there.
I love my Class B 2017 Roadtrek 190 Popular. So easy to drive and I park it at home along side my garage. Yes its small but my wife and I would never live in it fulltime. We've had good luck so far and we bought it used.
Considering the prices of many campgrounds, it’s probably the better choice.
They deserve a Buy Back for sure! Seeing good hard working folks in tears is unconscionable. They are truly suffering. Will be on the look out for the update.
Need federal lemon laws for RVs.
It's definitely time for change. Thanks for watching.
Congress tried but the RV industry fought it
@@norm5785
They paid each congressperson approximately 3 million dollars each to smash the bill. Over 200 million spent by the industry. That could have repaired an replaced people’s problems 10 times over. It’s baffling to me.
I can't believe our Government is so corrupt 😢
@@LizAmazingThe RVers need to remember when voting that Orange man and his congressional toadies are bought and paid by the money in their private jet. Private jets on both side of the aisle but I think if you do a count more are covered with red hats and orange makeup.
It's not Winnebago fault they miss their son's graduation, they could have rented a class A motorhome and gone or take advantage of the class B motorhome that was offer and just had someone watch their dogs
@WheelsInMotion98
much less than $232k
@WheelsInMotion98
I didn't say they didn't get screwed
they bought a lemon RV and should either get a refund or a brand new one that isn't a piece of c-rap
but its their own fault for not seeing their son graduate
trying to blame winnebago for that is just sour grapes
Great job Liz. Winnebago should assume the bad RV and have the dealer pay back ALL of what money was paid for the RV. It sounds like the Government should step in and maybe get the Attorney General involved with some guidelines and Laws tp PROTECT the PUBLIC from these lousy practices. Winnebago, Thor- you had a chance to make things right- YOU FAILED.
Indeed. I wanted them to rush in and HELP them. They would have looked like the hero. But a slow response or NO response, is a response. Sure hope Winnebago decides to do better soon! Thanks for watching.
Can't fly due to back injury but can sit in motorhome for,,, how long
Have you tired to fly coach now a days? It sucks. They still sold them a piece of sh**.
@northwoodsguy1538 He can afford more than coach. He's driving a $230k motor home
Check out the seats in an aircraft {narrow, no padding, no leg room, etc. } verses a 3 foot wide, extra padded leather, fully adjustable, with lumbar support lounge chair that you have in a class A motorhome and you'll understand.
Great video 👍
WINNEBAGO, BUY IT BACK!
they skipped their sons graduation because they didnt have their RV , that's cold . stay in an air B&B or something if your back hurts or just put up with the pain for the son. how did that conversation go ? hey son our RV is in the shop so we arent coming over to see you graduate because we dont like hotels
Average boomer honestly
@@pyromcrJust stop. Not a “boomer” issue. You wouldn’t even exist without a “boomer”. 🙄
That’s just messed up, missing out on their son’s graduation.

Awesome!!! Congrats, Eric!!! Yes, those early comments help. Thank you so much!
I feel for Jim and Janet however I would not have missed my sons graduation. Rent a nice car with nice seats and start driving and stay in a hotel. I don't believe for a minute that these people are trying to blame for missing it on someone else. I would get the RV back and immediately trade in in on a different, maybe one a few years older, probably made much better.
Exactly. Rent a nice luxury car, stay in an upscale hotel. You can afford the 200,000 plus RV then you can stay somewhere nice. But I wouldn't blame an RV company for missing my child's graduation. Poor excuse.
@@gbosearcher-3686 Yep, they could of taken a train, airplane or a bus too. He says he cannot sleep in Hotels due to back problems. I guess he would rather sleep on a flimsy RV mattress than staying at the Marriott. What university his son goes to, the graduation, sore back; all irrevellent. Their RV leaks, period! Using it for full-time living maybe against the warranty and for work purposes he says may be against the warranty too. (He is using it commercially). Most RVs are not made for four seasons. He says dealer never offered anything. Yes they did, the class C motorhome which can easily handle two people and two dogs and his computer screens, laptop etc. He says not good enough. So get the leaks fixed or replace the unit. Good luck to them. Be safe and happy camping.
Actually, they offered a class B camper van. That would not have been big enough for him to do his work which involved to computer monitors plus they have two dogs. Thanks for watching.
@@LizAmazing understand that for his work, but I wouldn't have missed my child's graduation for anything. Rent a car, stay in a upscale hotel or VBRO, B&B, but don't blame the RV dealership. Plenty of other options and I can't believe an RV mattress would be better for his back. I have an injury to my L 2-5 that makes walking difficult, so understand back injury.
Guys, why not rent a motorhome to go to your son's graduation? Anyhow, Boo on Winnebago. In the future if you cannot find an RV inspector, there are free inspection reports you can print online and do your own. It may not catch everything, but you will catch something that may be a red flag and save you headaches. Also, buy a moisture meter and check for water intrusion. Winnebago should buy it back.
That's great advice!
Great tips, thank you so much. Yes, I have a link to a moisture meter in the pinned comment. Thanks for being here!
unfortunately due to my back issues and work schedule we would have needed to rent one for at least six weeks. it would have cost 10k+
@@TheBigW Wow, that's ridiculous.
@@TheBigW How about hop on a Charter bus? If you truly wanted to be at your son's graduation, you would have put work to the side and hopped on a Greyhound. If you travel in a Class A, you can travel on a charter bus. I'm sorry but the graduation thing makes you look like you're wanting to be a martyr. A parent who wants to be at a graduation will do WHATEVER IT TAKES to be there. Sorry for your RV issues, but you chose not to be at the graduation.
1/4 million dollars but no inspection????????????????????????????????????????????? There is no way in hell I would miss my child's graduation. Rent one. Rent one. Rent one.
They explain exactly why and what they would do differently next time around. Thanks for watching.
It would infuriate me to rent a RV when I own a RV.
Winebago needs to offer a full buyback, discount a new (inspected) unit, and not try to silence the customers or you Liz. Jim & Janet - best wishes.
Thanks for this, Paul!!! Glad to have you in my corner!
I can't believe this man chose the winnebago over his son.
Heartbreaking.
Absolutely Heartbreaking.
I know. I would have made it a priority regardless of the RV situation. I call BS.
I'm going to take a guess he did the typical boomer thing of not paying for a cent of his son's school, saddling him with probably close to six figures of debt, while blowing everything on an RV.
Yes. There is more to this story about the graduation. Never should have been brought up in this issue. The man seems over dramatic as far as the graduation. I bet it was his decision to not go. He could have sacrificed to go If it was important. Winnebago certainly sounds responsible for the RV, not being serviced correctly, but this couple seems responsible for not getting to the graduation. Sickening.
@@pyromcr And where is it written in the Anti-Boomer Book that a parent shouldn't spend the money they earned on what they want, and not a degree their kid wanted? It's none of the kid's business what the parents spend money on. As long as the parents took care of the kid for 18 years, they don't owe him anything more. If they WANT to contribute, that's nice but certainly not mandatory like some little whiners believe.
Sad.
I've wanted an RV for many years. Now that I am considering one I think a used unit will be a much better buy.
The used ones tend to be better built. Definitely do your research and get an inspection. Thanks for watching, Paul.
Get a GOOD THOUROUGH inspection BEFORE you sign ANYTHING. Get one of those water sensors that Janis mentioned.
I'm grateful for this channel. I was considering purchasing an RV and experiencing the lifestyle, however, after hearing these stories I can candidly say that I have forever changed my mind.
Both Janet and Jim are dear friends of mine They are a warm and beautiful couple and family means everything to them Missing their son‘s graduation has been a heartache to them and their son. As for Jim‘s job, he works very hard and puts a great deal of weight on his integrity. This never should have happened and as you can see from the video, they are heartbroken and in distress. The only right thing to do is for them to get a complere refund. And a sincere apology. Time for Winnebago to step up and be responsible for their mistakes.
Well said, Barbara. Thank you so very much!
I am so heartbroken for this wonderful couple. I can see what great people and kind they are. God is angry with this as they have been taken terrible advantage of. I am praying they get a FULL buy back. Plus for pain and suffering. This is inexcusable.
If they can't fly then why didn't they hop on a charter bus? If they truly wanted to be at their son's graduation, they would have figured it out.
@@scottmichaels12 I agree - it seems there must have been another way.
I can’t believe he chose to miss his sons graduation tho? I mean he can work, drive ? Seems an odd choice

@WheelsInMotion98
yes, because RVs are known to be the smoothest vehicle to ride in🙄
@WheelsInMotion98 yes, those hotel rooms are tough on injuries. Better to be in an rv...
Yeah or at least send one of the parents out. They could’ve found a way. This man is a bit of a drama queen.
Yeah. This was very strange to me. I have worked in injury medicine for 40 years. Specialising in total spinal hips and knees. Can’t imagine any injury that allows RV travel and accommodation but not a “class B” RV travel and even book your own accommodation. The only condition that may fulfill those parameters is FITH SYNDROME. And I have met people with this historically.
Don’t any of these people realize that rv’s are built out of light weight metal, lamented wood and staples?
Service most always takes weeks or months due to warranty parts getting to the dealer. Dealers say they ordered the parts and they also arrived a lot longer than it needs to. As a customer "I" was willing to pay for overnight FedX or UPS and they said "it's not set up that way with the manufacture". If the manufacturer would pay for overnight service if the RV is under warranty... That could really help the dealers and customers. Then second... If the parts are not under warranty, ask the customer if they are willing to pay for that service. Waiting for parts could be the first thing these dealers and manufactures could do to help their customers. The dealer could move more RV's in service per month and of course make more warranty and non- warranty profits!
This pisses me off to hear this. YOu know, when I saw Traveling with Robert Hawking new Winnebagos I messaged him and said , How can you sell this stuff when this company that you deal with does this kind of stuff. This really Sucks. I feel so bad. Good for you Liz.
Thanks Laura!!!
That is just sad but no offense a winnebago shouldn't keep anyone from graduation. That's insanity. Sorry you got a bad unit and they should buy it back but let's be honest about graduation. A know a wheelchair bound lady travel over a 1000 miles for a graduation.
That’s what I was thinking. I mean the guys not a paraplegic or something. Seems extreme. I mean he is working and can drive
@desdicadoric Exactly rent a car and drive up. So you aren't comfortable for a few days so be it. Just the fuel burnt driving there and back is probably the cost of a rental and hotel.
Bit dramatic ya think? Agreed
That's when I tuned out. Hotels in Indiana are $125 everywhere and car rentals $50 a day. No wonder the son was pissed.
Chris West and the management/directors at Winnebago are wrapping up Q4 of fiscal year 2024 which ends on Monday. They won't do anything that lowers sales numbers, profit margin or their yearly bonuses. "It's all about the dollar, always the dollar." Thank you Liz for being a wonderful advocate for hard working folks in their pursuit of happiness. What say you Michael Happe (CEO @ Winnebago)?
They (Winnebago) said they put people first and want a good relationship with their customers. Hahahaha. What a joke. They’re doing a 180 on those two statements.
Wow...I'm glad we found your channel Liz. We totally reversed our RV plans based upon your reporting and unfortunate consumer complaints. Winnebago needs a "Bud-Lite" spot light for sure! Great job!
They deserve to get money back, but I’d crawl to my daughters graduation with no legs to not miss it.
ABSOLUTELY!!
I'm in a Winnebago now but I can assuredly say there won't be another one! Great job Liz, as always.
Man, is there a reputable RV brand anywhere? We've changed our retirement plans after watching your videos, i wouldn't touch these things with a 10 foot pole.
Newell is a great RV as well as renegrade
Don’t stand in the sun! A scary shadow monster is next to you😂
Newell RV.
Thank you,Liz for what you are doing. In our case,we have 2 rv's. A 1984 Bluebird Wanderlodge 36foot and a 2001 Lazy Daze 31 foot class C. We have had the Bluebird for over 20 years now and lived and traveled in it all over the country. We now live in it fulltime in an Excapees park outside of Port Townsend, Wa. The only reason we bought the Lazy Daze is because of the amount of tourists that visit here outside of Seattle, the accident rate is very high here. Didn't want our home to be hit...pure steel don't cha know! Bought a 2001 Lazy Daze 31 ft class C to travel around the area in. It also is old school and custom built. Takes a year to build these one at a time. The Bluebird took nine months to build and each are custom also. There are plenty of older rvs out there that hold up over time if you look for them.
Good for you guys! Both of those are CLASSICS!:)
I do feel bad for these folks, but the son's graduation thing was way too dramatic. That is no excuse for not making it to your child's graduation. If you cannot fly, then get on a bus. I'm sorry but if you can ride in an RV, you can ride on a bus to make it to your child's graduation. Don't get me wrong, I do believe that these people were screwed by Winnebago, but blaming them for missing your son's graduation kind of makes you look like a martyr. If you truly felt passionate about making it to your son's graduation, you would have figured out a way to do it. I'm sympathetic to your RV issues, but I can't be sympathetic for you guys using your RV issues as a reason to not show up at your son's graduation.
They could have rented a class A motorhome.
Thanks Liz, you are a God send, me and 5 friends were looking to buy RV's as part of our retirement, but now we will not until we see some real integrity in the industry, and they start standing by their products. Is there anyone in the foreign market doing a better job?
Wow I was just about to buy one over 375k will be calling my sales rep in the morning
375k wow. 😂 buy a villa in Portugal bro. Let me know when I can visit for the great advice 😂
Those people put all their eggs in one basket. When it comes to RV'S, you always need a backup plan because they are just not reliable enough.
Exactly! An RV is a toy, just like a boat. It's not a permanent home. People need to stop with this idea of selling their appreciating home and buy a depreciating asset like an RV. Unfortunately UA-cam creators have sold this lie that it's a great idea to "sell everything" and live in an RV.
If your son’s graduation was very important, wouldn’t you have just taken a flight to travel to him?
People just can’t understand that these new RVs are totally trash. The workers are lazy. They don’t give a darn unlike the old-school builders.
Buy an older RV, spend the money to upgrade it and you will see the difference.
He can't fly. Back problems due to an injury. He said so.
@@jakemanchester5139 but he can sit right? Who is going to drive that big coach? It requires sitting. We are not sure what kind of back problems he has but I do believe he is able to sit.
@@Vamanaswastika Airplane seat verses a Class A driver seat? HUGE, HUGE, HUGE DIFFERENCE EVEN IF YOU FLY FIRST CLASS.
@@kathykeene2092 if they can afford a class A, I’m sure he can afford a business class seat that converts into a bed in an ✈️.
Thanks!
Thanks so very much!!!
Awesome work and advocacy!
Thank you so much!!!
Liz, this channel is AMAZING!
Keep on doing what you’re doing, it is having an impact.
Another day, another screw up by manufacturers.
Yeah, it's high time they become customer focused!
@@terry-zi7eh
Problem is Winnebago makes their own cabinets and furniture, and they use paper veneer on cupboards. Melts with water.
The government really needs to Mandate laws on RV warranties and how structure is built.
We finally gave up RVing after 30 years in 2013 as repairs and upkeep happened too often to enjoy the lifestyle. Cheaper and cheaper systems on some and when you go upscale the parts are extremely high and difficult to access. Our last one was a Texas built '01 Foretravel U320 a wonderful unit but nickel and dimed us until we sold it.
I believe a large Class B is the way to go if it must be a motorized unit but a towable trailer is the cheapest less hassle free way to RV. Start with a tow vehicle and match the trailer size and weight to the tow vehicles ability to tow. Cheers 🇨🇦
Dont blame the dealership for you missing your sons graduation. You could have rented a different rv or sucked it up and stayed in a hotel for a night. I hate when things happen to people and instead of making the best out a situation they just pout. Seems like you also taught your son the same mentality.
Blue is your color Liz! Smart and very attractive. Keep up keeping them honest!
You had many options to get to your son's graduation, Fly, Rent car, Rent motor home etc etc
Back injury….can’t fly. I think there is more to the story as to why his back injury affects his forms of travel. I imagine he needs to lay down often. And rent a motorhome when you own a $250K one? That would bug the hell out of me. It’s the principle of the thing.
Recently, a friend of mine's brother was purchasing a grand design coach. Fortunately, his wife was held up at work, was not there when they were completing the purchase/financing paperwork and the inspector was just completing the inspection when she arrived. They went in to complete the paperwork and right before the wife signed, the inspector came and said "do not purchase that coach". They stepped outside to talk and the salesman attempted to get into the conversation. They informed the salesman that they were not completing the purchase and left the dealer. The dealer kept asking for a copy of the inspection and was told no, they were not the client and had no right to a copy. The dealer apparently contacted the inspector, again to get a copy of the report and was informed they would not get one. All his brother has said is that was the best $500 he ever spent. I agree with your video/comments.
The RV industry makes me think car camping might not be so bad at all.
The Subaru Outback has an optional tent that you can set up on the roof of the car, provided with a ladder you can use to climb up. The Pontiac Aztek also had a tent option, as did the AMC Spirit hatchback (back in the late 70s).
@@thehighllama8101 if you go camping often you can also buy aftermarket roof top tent pods which open up relatively quickly. An outback with a roof tent would be a slick setup.
I had a guy with a similar setup across from my RV campsite last month.
My grandpa had a 1988 Fleetwood Bounder. It was bulletproof. A shower drain broke and he fixed it in an hour. Amazing they don't make them like this anymore.
Yes, those classics were built like tanks! Thanks for sharing.
On one hand they got screwed by the dealership but on the other hand he could have rented an RV to go to his son's graduation. That one is on him.
Or rented a car and stayed in hotels. Agree 100%.
So sorry about your RV issues, but you could have made alternative travel to the graduations. Don't let this eat you up...
You couldn't get an inspection? Really
I own the 2005 Country Coach I inherited from a friend of mine and after watching all your videos about RV problems I sold it right away. I was looking forward to using it but not a chance
I live in IOWA and always thought Winnebago was a top notch operation. I will not be buying a Winnebago motorhome although that would have been my first choice. customer service is my first concern and Winnebago has failed
When my husband and I looked for our first 5th wheel, I literally drooled over the Winnebago RVs at shows. By the time we bought our second 5th wheel, a 2016, we bought a Grand Design and a very short time later Winnebago bought Grand Design. Our Grand Design Reflection has been near perfect, but from what I understand now, the newer models have lots of problems. How sad.
Winnebago should buy the unit back for the price Jim and Janet paid, and give them major discounts on another unit. The dealership should have lent them a compairable unit.
You can afford over $200,000 for an RV and you couldn't get to your son's graduation 😭😭😭😭
I thought that was weird. Rent an RV so you can attend. Nothing would have stopped me.
Maybe they couldn't swing an RV payment AND rental payment at the same time. I know It was a strain for me to have a car in the shop and pay for a rental at the same time.
I thought it was weird that they didn’t originally keep pushing to get an inspection from someone before they bought it.
And yes, I would’ve made sure I got there someway to my child’s graduation .
@@tellucasBeing “RV poor” is every bit as bad as being “house poor”. People need to live within their means. Maybe not the actual situation here, but still a truth that so many ignore.
Holy cow! This story is a tear jerker! I have two RVs and don't know if another is in my future but the message on this channel is clear.... pay the money up front and get an inspection from a very qualified and reputable person. Not doing this can potentially be one of the biggest mistakes you can ever make.
Bottom line in this RV industry there has to be lemon laws
Yes! We need more protection. Thanks for watching.
@@thomashorton1322
Unfortunately it takes a lot of money to buy congress votes. Just look at what the industry “donates” every year to keep laws off the books.
The Texas Lemon Law covers RVs for those of you in the Lone Star State.
I love great Northern beans! I’m sure even though they are 10 years old that they are just fine to be cooked. People put them in underground storage shelters for years. Loving your members only clips.❤
Sadly the way many things that were once good have gone. The "consumers" will have to stop buying this junk, and the industry might have to die and be reborn.
Yeah, there needs to be a total reset of this industry.
Hi Liz, I'm really learning so much about RVs because of the QC issues,as you know I purchased my first motorhome last year, that would be the 2004 Bounder 35E 8.1 gas workhorse.I have not used it yet so it still has 13,9070 mi. on it,Joey that is! I no it's not fancy looking but I actually prayed that our Heavenly Father would lead me to a good one, not knowing anything, I plan on keeping it for the rest of my life and visiting all of the south west,I live near Joshua Tree, of course little items need attention such as covering the cheap wallpaper and getting rid of those three panel shower doors. The motorhome has no leaks, but I would like to have a person that weighs less than 170 video my roof so I can rest on that matter.I found out that for the windshield you want a two piece gasket type, not a one piece glue in, the one piece is expensive to replace and can pop out. This Bounder was manufactured in Riverside California late 2003 and the chassis in the fall of that year,as it was nice cool weather in both locations, not too hot nor for the chassis manufacturer too cold, I mentioned the weather conditions because the employees working under best conditions can and does affect workmanship.I just want your viewers to maybe buy older units as you have advised many times,my Bounder still smells like new,I mentioned this before,I have no idea other than the prayers.
$500K of endless headaches or a $150 hotel room: In my retirement I know which I will choose until the RV industry gets their act together.
Yup, Im flying first class to a warm beach in Italy
Thanks, Liz. Because of your channel, I now look at the RV industry is a scammer industry. I would never consider ever buying an RV, unless I vetted the dealership and the manufacture extremely well.
Unfortunately it’s not just Winnie, but basically all manufacturers. Part of the issue is when everything was shut down during Covid, the good older techs & builders (at both manufacturers & dealers) had to go elsewhere to find jobs. A lot of younger folks working on the lines today (& in repair) are not properly trained/supervised & don’t have the commitment to quality in their work ethic. And most salespeople don’t even RV so have little RV background. While there were always differences in quality, I started in late 90’s & the differences I see now among various workers/sLes/unit quality is astounding. Some folks say well they’re not meant to be lived in full time; perhaps not, but people have been doing that for eons. Also they are RVs, so Should be meant to travel down the road & handle the shakes & bumps. Cabinets should not fall off the wall after 2 short trips an hour away from home!! Just saying!!
Right you are, Joy! Thanks for watching!
Same with our local motorcycle shops. The salesman don't even ride motorcycles! LOL.
Not meant to be lived in full time, but they're surely supposed to be up to the task if folks do decide full time
Thank you Liz. We have an older motorhome (2010) with a few problems but nothing like this. It’s sad there is such crappy workmanship being produced by these manufacturers. We were considering purchasing a small camper for traveling across the country but not now. Not until these companies prove they are honorable and stand by their product. Thank you for sharing these videos.
That mold inside the top of the unit could make you sick sick sick.
Right you are! Thanks for watching, Laura, and stay tuned for an update.
What’s with the screwed up typing ? Why ?
Once there was evidence of mold, for a brand new unit, then it should be an instant buy back. Seriously.
Wow, these videos are making me realize that the few issues we had with our 2020 Forest River Class A were nothing. Guess we are very lucky.
They have no case. If you have $232k to spend on an RV you can fly in a top notch inspector. They chose to miss their sons graduation. Why didn't the mom go? Who says the only way I can ever travel is in a $232k RV otherwise I am stuck at home. They got hosed but that's because they did not have it inspected. It's on them end of story.
You've made some good points here.. can't say I disagree with any of them. I love RV videos, but I would never buy one. Heck, I would not have one even it they were giving them away. Nothing like driving a nice comfortable Mazda and staying in clean hotels with a pool, a new mattress, hot shower, and great breakfast.
I bought a moisture detector myself and used it when buying our new 2024 Thor Geneva motorhome. I use it periodically to check for moisture and hire a mobile tech twice a year to check and reseal the roof if needed.
You can drive a 40ft RV, but can’t drive your car and stay 1 night at a hotel to see your son graduation..? Wow! Way to use your son and his accomplishments for your “hopeful” benefit of a new RV.
Agreed. They can afford a $500k plus RV, but they can't afford a night at a Motel 6.
Yes.
You a used car salesman? You apparently lack common sense.
@H37P5kY57 😂 That's great
Salesmen are always so nice. The nicest people anywhere. You have to love salesmen. Especially the white collars
Two issues here...if they missed their sons' graduation because they were un-willing to accept a Class B loaner, shame on them...and anybody who buys an RV that was built during the height of covid should have their head examined!
Gosh, a little insulting.
During covid there was only one requirement for someone to be put on the assembly line of an RV manufacturer...you had to be breathing...before that you had to be breathing AND know what you were doing.
I am so glad for the consumer laws in UK
Obviously, Winnebago doesn't have any quality control. Sad and has made me table my RV purchase.
Winnebago is Junk after seeing this. I was getting one like you had. Wow Thanks so much for this. Now no way in hell I will be getting a new Winnebago I would of been paying cash. Thanks.
If your have the discretionary funds to afford a 1/4 million dollar class A motor home, why on earth would you not make sure it is not a leftover unit from over a year ago?
Sounds like you made a very expensive mistake!
I just wonder what industry he is in to not do his due diligence in buying this?
I disagree with you. No one didn’t buy the new (but old) Class A because they saw water damage. They’re expensive and the dealer over-bought for inventory. Their mistake came when they didn’t get an impartial inspection. Please don’t attack his professionalism because it’s not fair.
Glad to hear that! I was about to buy a brand new one. Will not buy Winnebago now
These people are unreal, stay in a hotel for your sons graduation. You can afford a diesel pusher but you can't get to your sons graduation.
Watch again. He has a back injury so he can’t fly. He is limited to how long he can drive each day as well. Thanks for watching.
@@LizAmazing
Then he can take a few days and drive. There is always a way. BTW, I’m an RVer and love to RV, but they could’ve taken their car.
@@LizAmazing Liz, quit making excuses for these folks not attending the graduation. They quite obviously have a valid beef with Winnebago but the drama over graduation is only an attempt to increase sympathy for the motor home problem. There are many alternate ways 1 or both of these individuals could have made it to the graduation. If it was as important as they made it seem they would have found a way.
I can only assume the people negatively responding have never had a back injury. I have and very much can sympathize with his experience.
I don't care how bad my back injury is, I will make a way to graduation.. If you have the money to purchase this RV, you can BET they have money to get to graduation.
