I cant be the only one wanting to sing but not being able to right?
i at least try
While I do not speech the old Icelandic speech I read the translation while I adjust to tempo but this Eivor truly owns this song in more than title... She imparts something into the epic... However small
There is magic here
Andrew MacPherson She speaks Faroese and not Icelandic ;)
Don't trust the words, trust your ears
same in here!!!!! language barrier for me lol
Her voice is so hauntingly sweet it’s beautiful
INDEED.
Imma go sing this in the stairwell and get some really cool echoes now
I like the way you think
Stairways are the best
It's all fun and games till you get evicted for noise polution xD
@@annadeak1184 or in the underground parking lot in your building 👌 (i tried some other songs in mine, an the echo is unbelievable 😎)
@@dagmarriesle6232 we had a performance with our choir in an underground parking lot :D it was amazing!
I heard the song while cleaning my car. 2 minutes later I was sitting in the woods carving longbows for a burial at sea.
Ethereal and Earthy at the same time. Beautiful....
Earthereal?
@@kaminandamusic253 Ethereal. It means Otherworldly or Ghostly or Eerie.
@@MaZEEZaM no, they meant wordplay, they didn’t type “ethereal ?” They typed EARTHereal

Since I was a child I love the nordic mythology and viking culture. Now I'm more fallen in love with this culture because the music is marvelous. Amazing voice and sounds. Thank you so much for the translation, now I can understand the lyrics. Long life to our ancient cultures!! ¡¡Warm Greetings from México!!
I've been obsessed with Mexican culture since I was a child, and Nordic culture too 😄
Now I understand your nickname, a nordic goddess and an aztec hueytlatoani (king) :D Where are you from??
My entire family has very deep Nordic roots and ever since I was young I’ve loved everything about it!
@NONYA Business This is Faroese, From the Faroe Islands

Turn on a thunderstorm app in the background and this becomes so much creepier 👌👌

This is a fantastic idea
Thank you for the translation into English. I've been enchanted by the song for years - nice to finally know what it means.
@NibsUK2121 I see what you did there...
@@deepsolar169 tee-hee, accidental I assure you :-)
Lol
with good head phones the drum brat mimics a heart beat its really cool
I imagined this song being sung by an ancient witch with crazy hair and then I watched the live performance and it threw off my entire vision haha. What an incredible voice though
So it's played by a young, attractive witch with long, beautiful golden hair...even more enchanting! I saw this first as a live recording, and I was amazed by it.
@What Everett ...I stumbled on the song by a live performance that blew me away! Then, I saw the live performance that goes with lyric video and the emotion and feel of it all was so completely different I know just what you mean... if you haven't seen this version, ua-cam.com/video/LpiFmZLICgM/v-deo.html

Sarah Gray Indeed!
@@sarahgray430 Me too, especially amazing with the footage of the scenery, the mountains, pastureland.
It's just so beautifully haunting and entrancing. So beautiful. Just love the nordic culture and music.
This doesn't have much to with Nordic culture though.
Pretty sure this isn't Nordic related tho
Oh my blooding god, this is faroese, this channel is perfection
😂😂😂😂😂😂
She is so mystical... so enchanting.
Feel so " home" when I'm listening to the drums and song, the text is wonderful
Naboene kan disse sangene utenat nå!! 😤 Som nordmann forstod jeg tekstene faktisk! 🤩 Vikingmusikk som dette henter the solide inni deg til overflaten! *FANTASTISK MUSIKK*
Am I the only one who is reminded of Inuit Throat singing by this?
"In my heart burns a sizzling fire, a sizzling fire"
You should get that looked at. Sounds pretty dangerous.
Mmm doctor
Eivor has me spellbound.
Wow, the lyrics are just as infinitely enchanting. I don’t pray and it makes me want to
The serendipity of me finding this through a fic is astonishing! I've been making a half hearted attempt at learning old english and I've also been having trouble transcribing it digitally, so seeing that Faroese uses ð too was a life saver! I probably could've tried harder to find another European language that uses ð or þ, but I am very lazy :/
A truly powerful masterpiece!
this version of the song is very mesmerizing and still awesome to this day!!!
Thank you for the translation! I’ve been looking for it since 2014!
Truly Spellbinding! What a beautiful voice!
This throat sound is exactly what i hear when I allow my horse to run with the reindeers. Reindeers have a unique breathing sound when they run. They have a unique breathing mechanism that allows them to run a long distance without running out of air. It sounds just like that.
My far relatives in Sakha use this sound exactly the same way.
…WOW… Just wow.
Beautiful song
It's funny because the song is from jigsaw
Really nice to see the translation of this song. Thanks very much.
This is Absolutely HYPNOTIC!
Thanks for whoever did the translation.
this is my favorite piece of music.
I can really appreciate this. Awesome! All the best.
My wife walked down the aisle to this song at our wedding. I'm a wizard, but Correlation isn't causation...mostly

The notes of this melody meld so well into the dreamscape of nature. Beautiful. 🩶 Eivor Palsdottir
I like the weird scary noises. I have no clue if those parts are language. Probably not.
It's not it traditional throat sining
Poor are those people who did not get into such beautifull music😍
❤❤❤
It sounds like the drumming is on a modern snare drum rather than Eivor's usual skin drum, but this is still good.
after about 2 thirds of the song it is, theres a dude with a modern drumset, sounds awful if you ask me
Love From Bangladesh ❤
They say the long "i" like /uj/ which is similar to a sound shift that happened in English where we say it like /aj/. I give credit to "TheFrecklish" for their correction because I originally wrote that it was said like /aj/ when it said like /uj/.
Uj not aj

It’s like my blood has ancestral memory
In a time of globalization, we have two completely things: we have the same repetitive music, a product of infertile imagination, total lack of creativity, a tune that has been recycled over and over and over again.. hundreds of thousands of song each and every year following that exact motive, all so similar, ghastly, horrid and rather common, and just when you thought you have lost all hope, that originality, beauty and emotion, emotion! Has faded away.. this eerie, bizarre music appears from nowhere, and your faith that astonishing artists still exist is renewed. Music that comes from the strangest corners of the earth. In these occasions, globalization is an astonishing thing!
The song is called Spellbound!
Trøllabundin eri eg eri eg
Galdramaður festi meg festi meg
Trøllabundin djúpt í míni sál í míni sál
Í hjartanum logar brennandi bál brennandi bál
Trøllabundin eri eg eri eg
Galdramaður festi meg festi meg
Trøllabundin inn í hjartarót í hjartarót
Eyga mítt festist har ið galdramaðurin stóð

I'm not Norse but it's fun learning to sing in the language ❤❤

What language is it?
Faroese
What language is this
Faroese🇫🇴
Why has this been pitched up? Her voice is deeper than this.
So Faroese is a Norse dialect?
Not a dialect, no. But like the other Nordic languages it's ancestor is Old Norse :)
what's the language?
Faroese (native to Faroe Islands and Denmark)
4kassis
Its Norse.
Think Thor and Loki.
And the Vikings!
The language being sung is Faroese, it's similar to Icelandic and the old shetland language and is only spoken by Faroese people. Current population of the Faroe Islands is around 50.000
It's very different compared to Danish when it comes to words and grammars and Danes don't understand the language and often mistake it for being icelandic.
Grim Nocturne, no, it's faroese.
this sounds very similar to a hindi song
Which one ?
hindi always copies from others
Where is Faroese spoken?
Faroe Islands (which are about halfway between Norway and Iceland)
and North of Scotland
There's this cool new website called Google.
drithligh Whoa, slow down there kiddo, you kinda lost me at “new”
