You have to love the internet. This gig had 40 people, 2 sheep, and a small gathering of seagulls (lucky things!). Now it's been seen over 9 million times! Granted, 2 million of those are probably by me, but it's still an incredible thing.
It's not 40 people. Not even close to 40.
a good million or two are from my screen as well ;)

Yes if you live in Faroese islands or in Scandinavia.
That sort of happened to me at North Country Fair. I heard this ethereal voice from a distance and stumbled after it in a daze until I found a stage I didn’t know existed, set back in the taiga. She was playing with Bill Bourne.
The eco through the Mt canyon walls would be awesome.

I am Norwegian and I could not be prouder of my culture. All of the Nordic peoples are passionate. The music is a large part of our culture. It is the spirit of the Earth speaking through her children. This music is spiritually awakening and awe inspiring. The lands are beautiful and the history is ancient, deep, and rooted. Truly strong and powerful blood flowing through me I will say this though; I know that people today tend to pride themselves in whose problems are bigger- but what connects us as human beings, is that in our suffering- we are fundamentally the same- we all feel hurt, we all struggle at some point. So I realize that what I struggle with, what you struggle with isn't cause for pity but empowerment- when we harness that same fundamental aspect of humanity within ourselves we can unlock our true potential- at the end of the day we are all equals
Well said
Well said 2, you guys in the North have an amazing culture and a great history, scandinavians should protect that at all costs, hope some day I can visit and see the beautiful lands with my own eyes, cheers.
Not to be a buzzkill, but how about being proud of something that you actually achieved? Being born in a certain race or a country, doesn't make you any special. I wouldn't be proud of being born with moles in my back or with predisposition to type II diabetes. That's how random and inconsequential is to be proud of your nationality and ethnicity.
Well if you can't feel what it means ,then don't ask. Culture-less
Trill MT are you proud of your father? When you were a kid did you brag that “my dad can beat up your dad”? There is more than one type of pride. I am proud of my race in the same way children are proud of their parents. I want to live up to my ancestors hopes, and I am proud to be connected to such a wonderful culture. This doesn’t make me a hateful person in the slightest.
This was the last video I sent to Mama before she died. She discovered Eivor the last year of her life, and was transported to a beautiful place when listening to her. I am so grateful for the joy this music brought my mother, forever.
It is so good that you could share those things with your Mother. Sacred Things. It is an amazing power, so incredible memories were forged. All people do not have such privileged relationships in the Sacred, with their Mother. You were blessed to have her, and she was an amazing soul. I am grateful to her to have opened the doors to you, and reciprocally. Thank you for sharing this story.
I cried 😔 I hope she find his way to Walhall ❤️

This makes me feel nostalgic for a life I haven't even lived...a distant life and forgotten memories, but a deep connection that goes beyond the perceivable time and space. I think that if mother earth would sing this would definitely be one of her favorite songs to sing
Yes! There’s a Welsh term for that feeling: Hiareth. A longing for things from another time or place.
Mother earth sings all the time. Through birds, mating calls, the crackling of trees in the wind and the rumble of a distant storm. Every second of every minute across the world she is constantly singing. Even this song. We are the eyes, the nose and the voice of the universe - here to experience ourselves.
This so the best description on my feeling toward songs like this. So oddly entrancing, like you’ve been here before...
TRUE!! So true...

I am Bavarian German. I know Germany is not part of Scandinavia…and on top of that Bavaria is south-east in Germany amongst the Alps - so even further from the north… but I know we are all Germanic, and we flourished in tribes. This music makes me feel a certain way. That is for sure. I love how it makes you feel cold but in a good way, like the cold north is part of Scandinavian culture, and how the high, snowy mountains of the alps are a part of ours. This doesn’t just feel mystical, I’m not a foreigner, it’s definitely actually home.

It's about a man who just before he dies, thinks of Mary McKear (beautiful girl he met when he was younger) far west in Tir n'a Noir (a mythical land in Irish mythology) He's not sure if it's just a dream, or a reality. But he remembers he was so happy with her. He is so happy when he dies, because he is sure that he will come to a better world, and that he will meet his loved one again.

This is the kind of song that leaves you with the feeling that there is something right in the world.
Якая прыгожая мова! Якое цудоўнае выкананьне! Ад сэрца ліецца святло!
Just stunning, 'simple' joy of music in a stunning landscape, like a match in heaven. ❤
You can send all the other musicians back home. She just needs that drum.
Ed Ram, you need to listen to some of her other music, she is heavily into electronic music (and jazz).

@@xoen6 Ed Ram was commenting that the "other musicians" were not needed, and I was pointing out that Eivør would have chosen to include the drummer (and other musicians). I felt that Ed Ram's comment was a little narrow minded and was trying to show how eclectic Eivør is, in her musical interpretations
Eivør Pálsdóttir:
Trøllabundin eri eg eri eg
Galdramaður festi meg festi meg
Trøllabundin djúpt í míni sál í míni sál Í hjartanum logar brennandi bál brennandi bál
Trøllabundin eri eg eri eg

Trøllabundin inn í hjartarót í hjartarót Eyga mítt festist har ið galdramaður stóð
I’m Chinese Australian and got goosebumps hearing this powerful song. What a voice. Im drawn to folk music from all over the world.
I’m
Scottish. I got the same!
7 years late finding this. All I can say is… WOW!
Am Mexican and honestly I don't know what the song mean, but it make me feel good and peace
It reminds me of Indigenous American music. It is very healing.
Yo también soy mexicano y me encanta. Me interese mucho en los idiomas especialmente germánicos, el feroés es impresionante; ni hablar de la cultura de donde proviene.
Hugh its Norse music nothing to do with native American not everything with fur and drums is native American
Eeeeh mexas for ever \o/
@@rossrobinson399 yes very annoying when people assume drums and fur is always native American!
I do not understand what she said, but I understand very well what she want to tell me.

Spellbound
Spellbound I am, I am
The wizard has enchanted me, enchanted me
Spellbound deep in my soul, in my soul
In my heart burns a sizzling fire, a sizzling fire
Spellbound I am, I am
The wizard has enchanted me, enchanted me
Spellbound in my heart's root, my heart's root
My eyes gaze to where the wizard stood

✨If only we could just live like this, pure and straight from the heart... There is so much Beauty.
after a hard Day of Work i come home, drank a few beers, and listen to this wonderful Lady and i feel like something really went wrong in this world and at the same time i really love this World!😄
I could spend a thousand years listening to this
what's especially cool about this song is that she sings it different every time.
It depends on her own mood.

This is everything my soul speaks. As primordial as music gets. Brings goosebumps to my skin and tears to my eyes. Pure beauty
4:46 is where my grandfather grew up. I climbed that mountain to the left with him when I was 5. This song fits my memories of these mountains.

Scandinavian Airlines: "Scandinavian culture doesnt exist!"
Eivør: "Lol, hold my horn of mead"
It does live. My dad who was born in 1923 always held on to us sacrificing something we held dear on summer solistice. 6000 years of culture dies hard. But loving where you live. Does not mean you have to hate everyone else.
@@frederikhyrup2871 Absolutely mate, totally agree. And good for you that you're keeping cultural traditions alive. It was great to see some of Scandinavia's rich and beautiful culture and history in my holidays to Norway, Iceland and Finland. However, the liberal-owned media agenda would have us believe that European culture and identity doesnt exist, and sadly so many people are brainwashed by it.
@@harrypike5140 Thats the only thing the SAS commercial was right about. We are proud not to be proud. But ask the frech/brits and you will get another answer. Both had empires. They dislike beeing subjugated.
@@frederikhyrup2871 why? what is wrong being proud? your forefathers build a country that most liveable on world.they could use oil money to have gold plated lamborgini or pet leopards but they chosed to use for they people instead i would be proud as af if i were scandinavian
@Monte yeah it's awful dude. It's not only insidious to Scandinavian culture, but dishonest to African history and culture, for example to have a black man talk about "his Viking ancestors". Its the notion that culture and tradition is this non-binary thing that can be moulded, absorbed and adopted by anything and anyone. Which is the very antithesis of culture and tradition. An African calling himself a Viking is cultural appropriation, to use a favourite term of the left. But of course, cultural appropriation is fine if it's to push the their abhorrent agenda.
ici, personne ne l'a connaissais, j'en es fais profiter mon voisinage cet été. magnifique, merveilleux,
She is DEFINITELY going to Fólkvangr in the afterlife JUST for this song alone! Her singing this beautiful song in that beautiful place is DEFINITELY making the gods smile! 😁

Going back to the beginning.
Lo, there do they call to me.
