In my greenhouse I always put a couple of those sticky mouse traps down on a shelf by the plants. It has helped immensely with white flies, flies etc.
I am getting some yellow traps for flying insects for sure.

I have the yellow sticky traps and put a layer of black sand on all of my soil in my pop up greenhouse. Stops the gnats and white flies from laying eggs in your soil.
That was really nice. Learning how to start peas and chamomile while listening to the sleet tap on the windows. Bet it was a chilly jog back into the house! It's going to be very enjoyable watching what starts and grows in the greenhouse!
I do like the sound of rain on it. Years ago I had a popup greenhouse and the best time to work in it was when it was raining.

Your tip to pre-germinate the peas worked like a charm. I put them in 1/2” of water on Tuesday and by Thursday they had sprouted and they went in the ground😊
its a time saver. This method gives you more root and growth. Depending on your temps both methods are equally effective really.

Sprinkle with cinnamon and your fungus gnats and whiteflies are history. I have used cinnamon every month and for the first time I have NO pest problems! Try it, you'll like it...
My peas and radishes have sprouted, and my Seascape Strawberry plants are putting out new growth after just a few days. It is windy today with 30 MPH wind gusts, but I still managed to do a little seed planting, Boc Choy, Komatsuna, Danvers, Purple Top Turnips, and Tokinashi Turnips. Next on my list is getting Raised bed #7 going. I need to turn the soil over, burying most of the leaves covering it, top it off with compost, transplant Tokyo Bekana Mustard, Japanese Giant Red Mustard, Rainbow Swiss Chard, Fordhook Swiss Chard, Luccullus Swiss Chard, and New Zealand Spinach into it, and sow seeds for Tatsoi and Chijimisai. Then cover it with a net to keep my cat from digging everything up. All the seedlings outside are doing great, especially the tomatoes and mustard. I have about 3/4 of a tray of peppers that are being stubborn with poor germination, on a heat mat. I reseeded them about a week ago, and am hoping to see sprouts any day.

Grew spinach and lettuce all winter in my greenhouse. Right now I let my spinach go to seed so I’ll have seed for outside. Spinach plants have a male and female plants. One grows the pollen and the other grows the seeds. I pulled the pollen plants out to give the seed plants growing room. Best seeds ever. Been using my own seeds for years.

Gary, have you ever started your seeds in soil blocks?
Zone 7B and tomorrow, I'll be transplanting some Peas into my raised bed from doing this very thing. I've never started peas in a flat before, So I'm hoping to try something different. Wish I'd watched this before hand though, because I only planted 1 seed per 2" square in my flats. I've got some long tap roots though and some of the peas haven't emerged yet.
You should be fine. So many ways to do peas. The roots can tear pulling them out so just be careful. Good luck.

I am having a problem with what I assume is algae. Am I over watering? Do I need to scrap it up?
Try sprinkling some vermiculite on your soil.
Kele idea is good. Let the top dry for a day or 2 between watering. It isn't something to over worry about.

Hey Gary, Great video as usual. I happened to look at the bottom of my transplant containers and noticed some fuzzy mold. I have my seedlings, which are all up and looking healthy in my house under grow lights. I am very careful not to bottom water very often unless they are dried out. Any ideas about what I can do about the mold? Right now, they are all out in the sun. Thank you!
it can happen. It's not always bad but sun should kill it. You can do a hydrogen peroxide spray on it the mold too.

I was thinking about growing camomile under grow lights indoors during the summer, but I'm thinking now it might not be such a good idea to start them as it's getting into the hot weather seasons.
I live in growing zone 9a in Florida.
I might direct seed now. Let them grow and reseed.

For the peas, could you do this inside under lights?
I did. Worked fine for me.
You can, but they need deep pots, as they don’t like to be transplanted.
Yep I have dont that for years. Indoor plants need a longer period of acclimation to the outdoors verses a greenhouse.

Let them dry a bit. Not sure why it is happening but overly damp soil can be an issue.

Gary I see you're planting peas in the greenhouse, are you also direct sewing this early in March? I was planning on direct sewing after using your sprouting method ASAP.
I start peas many ways. One of my favorite. I have peas in now outside that I pre sprouted in water. So I have some up in my garden. I will direct seed more in March.

@@THERUSTEDGARDEN thanks Gary I’m trying to grow peas w/ the help of Bell clotures from the Dollar Store. Question about germinating in a raised bed hoop house with greenhouse plastic: I saw somewhere people lay a frost blanket on the soil and wet it and then put the hoop house with plastic over top, to help germinate the seeds faster. Someone else told me a thick layer of hay would work, but that seems counterintuitive, won’t the hay prevent the seeds from growing the way much suppressed weeds? Another suggestion was put black buckets of water under the hoop house which warm up during the day and add moisture and warmth at night when the hoops are closed. I just want to get an early spring crop started and harvested so I can clear the space for summer crops
I must be the only person that regrets growing chamomile. First time last year and now it's every bed and all over our gravel ground. I love the smell and chamomile tea but it's out of control !!!
