I grow mizuna in Japan and it is very hardy. I have had it snowed on before with no problem. If you cut it at the base for the leaves it grows back quickly for more harvesting later.

Hi Ben, I know you’ve done many strawberry videos but could you do one about “what to do before winter” , “what to do with the offshoots over winter” zone 6b , thanks for inspiring me to garden ❤ I was severely depressed before watching your videos . They have sparked an interest for me to gardening. Over the summer I built a greenhouse, built five huge raised beds, started a chicken coop and now working on a walk way. Thanks Ben 😊

I started some January King cabbages last year and set them out in a raised bed at the appropriate time. They were coming along nicely, and I expected to harvest them in late winter or early spring. But here in Tennessee (USA) we were hit with extraordinarily COLD weather right at Christmas -- down to zero fahrenheit, and wind chill about 10 degrees colder. My wonderful little cabbages did not survive, but after watching your video, I believe I'm going to try them again this year. Thank you for all the encouragement about late gardens!

I went on a scavenge for pallets to build a compost zone today and when I found some (B&M store Suffolk, England) they had loads of ruptured bags of compost they were not going to sell… they let me have them (50L bags) for £1 each … only had a tiny hole
In each bag and there was minimal dirt left in the car boot.
      Win win!

I too love French Breakfast radish. 3 days ago I re-seeded a planter with radish, spinach and beetroot for a Fall ( Autumn) crop. Will try some of these greens too in a planter I plan on cleaning out next week. I also have one planter annually in use with cover crops because they dont die here in winter ( 9b Sacramento,Ca) ; I am able to wait until December to turn them in and by March plant in that planter, the planters rotate, so one I currently have cucumber and butternut squash in will become my next cover crop planter for 2024. I use a 7 planter rotation for cover crops. Thanks Ben, great videos.

Let several of these winter greens go to seed in the spring and allow them to spread around your garden. They will become prolific weeds with the advantages that they exclude other weeds and can simply be pulled and eaten.
Two red mustard plants (over two meters high at harvest) gave me enough seed for kitchen for most of a year and I cook with them twice a week.

I only have a smallish balcony space, but do have a racked planter (metal framed with fabric planting troughs), and I just realised I could make a clear plastic hood to fit over it, so could try out some of these winter plantings.
The only difficulty is I fear I don't get quite enough sunlight for successful vegetable growing (it's east/south-east facing, and there's an overhang above it - meaning I also have to water, no matter how rainy it is). I do have land cress and radish seed, though, so may as well give it a go!
    Thanks for the inspiration.
