@@JerrasGarden I grow chervil and tarragon. The chervil likes the cold so I’ll be sowing seeds about now. True tarragon can be grown from cuttings but not seed. In my garden the chives, fennel have naturalized. The rosemary is perennial. I’m going to try to grow sorrel from seed this fall. Very interested in the cilantro taste alike you mentioned. Mine doesn’t grow well here. Too hot. The culantro is a must for me.
@JerrasGarden my mint died back and flowered about a month ago. I cut it all the way back to only live stems (1-2" max). I was sure it was dead, but now it's soooooo thick, watering is becoming an issue.
I really want to expand my herb garden this year. I bought an extra Greenstalk that I want to use as an herb tower. I currently have 6 types of basil, rosemary, oregano, parsley, thyme, and mint. My mint always survives the TX heat so I definitely keep it in containers and don’t let it go to seed. I am one of those people who that can’t stand cilantro 🙋🏾♀️ I will give papolo and try
I guess I'm doing something wrong with my mint. I thought it was the heat but if your able to grow it in the heat, so should I. Glad I asked in the video LOL
@@JerrasGarden Texas and FL are very different though, so you probably aren't doing anything wrong. Also without her saying where in Texas, there are MANY environments across the state unlike FL which is a little more homogeneous. The places of TX similar to FL is the Gulf coast but if you get away from there, there's a lot of variation including getting closer to a desert environment. Or, if you get into NE TX it's a lot more like an east coast environment, like N. Carolina once you get into more elevated areas. I've lived around the country and also live in TX.
@JerrasGarden I'm in Orlando and my mint tried to die. I cut it back to 1-2" of healthy stems and was sure it was dead. After 1 month, it is ridiculously thick and lush, even in this heat. I need to separate it and give it some more room. It's in morning sun only and watered only when dry.
Basil comes up voluntarily for me every spring. Both Thai and Genovese. My husband ripped out my spearmint by accident. Aye! Ty, Jerra for allllll of the info you provide us. 💜
Sage!!! Bought seed from dollar tree and tbh neglected them a lot. However I still got 3-4 plants to survive out of 6. I planted them in raised beds and they have gotten really big over two + years. It even held its own planted with mint. I live in Okc and they held up through freezes, hail, tornado wind, scorching heat, and my constant neglect.
Yes, I always fertilize all my seedlings no matter the crop once their 1st set of true leaves appears. I like to use Fox Farms Grow Big fertilizer because it doesnt have a strong smell like fish emulsion etc...
Hey, Jerra! Thx for your great videos. Aside: good to know your site comes up right away on google when searching for puerto rican black beans/cowpeas... any ides when they will be available again? Thx!
I'm a very small grower and they sold out quick. I have a HUGE patch growing right now. They have not started flowering yet to produce seeds so it will be a few weeks/months. You can add your email to get a restock notice because they will sell out fast. @JerrasGarden yay! Big perennials in the grow bags and little delicate buggers in the growstalk it is. 🤣🤣 this year is my first garden, and thanks to you, Wild Floridian, and a couple others, I'm set to grow! 💜 so excited to see my gardens finally growing.
Pineapple sage is a great herb to grow
tarragon and lemongrass are great too. Thanks for the great videos
Yes they are!
I thought it was just me that had my mint die. Kinda glad to hear it is not just me.
I grow my mint in pots. It’s perennial for me. I’m in Savannah Georgia.
I wish mine would survive! I have to take cuittings before summer arrives and grow it indoors. Just way too hot.
@@JerrasGarden I do that with the oregano brujo , but I just stick it in the soil and it grows.

My mint and rosemary are still thriving in sunny Orlando. They are in morning sun and afternoon shade.
My rosemary does just fine in the heat, but the mint just dies...I guess I am doing something wrong.

Thank you Jerra for continuing to share your knowledge 🙏 I really appreciate your hard work
Happy to share what I know 😊
My peppermint and sweet mint dies off and comes back a couple times of the year. I'm also in Zone 10a, Florida
Papalo is an herb I didn't know existed, I grow basil, thyme, cilantro, and fenugreek now ! Always looking for new flavors. Great content
Yes, papalo is one of my favorites now.
I grow mint in pots in the shade of my Lanai and it survived the summer
Thanks for letting me know. I guess I am doing something wrong. I have had it outside and in my shady porch but it always dies.
@@JerrasGarden it also likes lots of water
Same, I’ve had my spearmint plant for several years now. I clip it back a lot and water when it doesn’t rain enough

You mentioned a creeping rosemary in your video. I never knew there was a creeping rosemary, I didn't see this in your store. I want some
I do not have seeds for creeping rosemary

My Thai basil all reseeds all over and I let it! If something is so happy in my garden that it reseeds, its meant to be.

Sage is a tough plant for sure
Love your ensemble
Thanks!
Love the hat!
Thanks!
Thank you 😊
You're welcome 😊
When the first true leaves appear, would you still fertilize if you used potting mix to start the seeds?

Yes, my UA-cam channel has a membership with different perks. You can see the options when you click the "Join" button on my homepage.
When are you getting more papalo? I must try it. ❤

Hi! I grew my herbs from seed in little trays like you have. Do you put them all together when you transplant? They look a little squished! Thanks!!
I seperate them and plant them individually around the garden.
Rosemary can raise blood pressure & interfere with ACE inhibitors . I'm throwing this out there for my heart healthy folks. ❤
Fennel is great for any game meat.
I was going to use my greenstalk for herbs. Do you recommend the grow bags or greenstalks?
Both LOL. I plant herbs in both and they grow very well.

I cannot grow basil, mine always gets fungal infection and dies. I have even tried thai basil.
Thai basil does not get as much fungus/molds like Italian basil
