Jumbo Porgy frenzy in Jamaica Bay!!

  • Went out with intentions to fill up the cooler with scup and oh man did I. Ran into some jumbo porgy. I was using asian crabs as bait and I was using the same $34 dollar reel from last time and it did the job. Very busy day, lots of kayaks, private and party boats. I found myself a little spot next to the bridge wall and we hit the Jack pot.

    Nice job! What is the size of the hook, line ? How much weight is the sinker, what kind rig is it? It is good to see you catching fish again and again, but it will be better if you show viewers your basic set up.

    • @NYCE_Fishing
      @NYCE_Fishing  Рік тому +1

      Thank you! I was using a lighter version of my tog set up. 20# test braided to 20# mono leader, the hook was 3/0 if I remember correctly and the sinker is a 3oz coin sinker so it won’t roll on me during change of tides and also don’t get stuck as other sinkers do. Also, I don’t use too much hardware.

    I have the impression that the green crabs are weeding out the smaller porgies for the bigger ones. Would you agree?

    • @NYCE_Fishing
      @NYCE_Fishing  Рік тому +2

      Yes, also using crabs buys you some time for the bigger fish to find your bait. Clams, worms will get shredded to pieces by the smaller porgies and small sea bass.
