This is the best demo by far I’ve seen of this very under-appreciated Marshall. The dsl gets all the love, but I’ve had a tsl602 combo amp for 20 years and I’ll never get rid of it. I love all three channels on the amp. It’s classic Marshall crunch all day. Can go from ac/dc to Iron Maiden.

I’ve had the same for about seven years. I had to change the motherboard out for a new one due to a production screwup that Marshall never really owned up to… When putting in the new motherboard I noticed it had a ceramic choke. After some research I located a copper transformer choke for the TSL from mercury magnetics. I didn’t upgrade the transformers I just removed the ceramic choke and put in the mercury magnetic choke. The MM choke has five different tabs come out if it, so you can choose how many Henry’s it puts out. It only took about 15 minutes to do the swap. The copper wrap choke added a richness you’ll never get it from a cheap ceramic choke. I highly recommend having it done next time you have your TSL serviced 🎯

Just great playing man thank you for showcasing a much maligned amp in the best possible way. 👏
I've only played a tsl once and loved it. Own a dsl 100 and will never sell it.
Both these amps cop far too much abuse from the haters online..... probably snobby jcm 800/2203 owners who can't deal with the fact that Marshall mightve actually out done themselves and the jcm 2000 dsl or tsl are at least as good if not better.(not to mention cheaper!) Definitely more flexible with not a pedal in sight.
Anyway thanks again mate super job! 👍

Excellent showcase of this amp. Versatile amp, had mine over 20 years ... yes had issues with the bias and had to replace the board. I use this amp in so many settings, orchestras through small blues and full on rock...as this demo shows, it’s at home in many arenas. Nice one.

Wrong! And MARSHALL THEMSELVES HAVE TOLD YOU only the newest marshall actually works with fender guitars! So CLEARLY these OLD TSL's NEVER ACCEPTED THE SIGNAL FROM FENDER GUITARS. You're A LIAR! Clearly the TSL and DSL amps DON'T ACCEPT ANY BRAND AND ANY DECADE OF PICKUP. These things ONLY WORK WITH a couple of newer model Gibson pickups AND THAT'S ALL they accept. The era of being able to do anything you want with anything you can think of is OVER! You are insane!

You need to stop thinking you're being told the truth from vid making strangers. You need to get your education to me more advanced. When he adjusts the treble section on the amp, the notes aren't supposed to go down in volume. The electrical signal is WRONG for this amp input. Those guitars only work in vintage marshalls. Marshall has admitted this fact by default. They claim the new model amp only work with fender guitars. Which also means you can't use vintage gibsons in a TSL. It only accepts the signal of the newer Gibson pickups. New vintage model guitars DON'T WORK IN NEW MODEL AMPS!

A wonderful amp that you can step down to 15watts. Probably a bit complicated for the average Marshall player as it has so many different setting. It's really two amps in one. I have a JCM800 and a Plexi 1987x and they are super loud. Not really good in rehearsals, most members complain about the loudness. The JCM2000 TSL100 at 15watts has plenty of balls and then at 100 watts for live work. Highly recommend.

It doesn't work with fender guitars, and old style Gibson guitars, and ESP guitars and ibanez guitars and dimarzio vintage style pickups etc... If you're gonna play a modern Les Paul and SG's, this is YOUR ideal amp! If you don't like those 2 guitar styles, then buy something else! Only the very newest marshall will work with fender product.

It's one of the best all around amps I ever heard or owned, and I have Boogies, Plexi's, Fenders, Spawn's, Blackstar's, you name them, and this amp seems to perform just as good with any guitar as any of the rest.

Some robot left a message here just long enough to send a message to me, and then it was taken down from existence. It's the work of gutless human slime! People don't like the truth being told to electric guitar buyers. That fact is clearly on show! The fact is, fender makes exclusive voltage out of their guitars. That meant marshall had to rebuild their amps to accept the fender signal. People KNOW they've been sold products that they can't use. Cause they don't have the few items which accept the unique signals from the custom electric signals.

Ozgur Turkekul tnx. I have a tsl602 combo, the sound is very muddy, but your sound is very good. I want to try a closed cab 4x12 or 2x12 ...

That amp sounds great, but that guitar sound's like hell. The action is set to low it look's and sound's like. When ever I set up my guitar's this way, you get that buzzing sound when you play. The whole idea that you can't hear it when you play through the amp stuff is also crap.
With a Gibson, the action should be set at 5/64th's on the bass side and 3/64th's on the treble side. At that action, the neck sound have .01 relief at the 9th fret when depressing the 1'st and 14th fret's..... if the neck was made correctly.

Here is a note from Gibson about the string height at the nut from bass to treble.
      On the bass E string: 2/64th's" (.030")
      on the A string: 2/64th's" (.030")
      on the D string: 1-1/128" (.022")
      on the G string 1-1/128" (.002")
      on the B string 1/64th's" (.015")
      on the E string 1/64th's" (.015)

The harsh reality is it doesn't actually sound any better than most cheap amps, I'm not saying it's a bad sound but if you covered the "Marshall" up you'd just think it was a cheap valve amp, I genuinely think Marshall have fallen by the way compared to over amps, I've had many of them over the past 30 years staying loyal to the brand but now I use a Chinese made £450 Prs Tremonti MT15 and it absolutely destroys the Marshalls on clean tones, dirty tones and lead tones in all situations home, rehearsals or live, I'm sure the Marshall is louder but nobody ever uses even close to full volume especially with the gain turned up as it'll be mic'd up for live playing and apart from that the hiss past 50% volume with the gain right up is terrible on all Marshalls especially 100w heads, only my opinion but I genuinely do think for one of if not the biggest name in amps they could be making their amps better.

    • @OzzGuitar

echo No, you use your knobs by ear not just turn on all of them. The reason why bass is low because of the cab has no tires and the room floor resonance was too high.
