I'm in the middle of making a pie and a crumble and if my wife and sons don't stop having 'just another little spoonful,' there'll be none left to put in the pie and crumble!!! Luckily I've made a huge amount as there will be eight eager mouths to feed tomorrow (10 November).
@@lisamckay5058 The crumble went in no time. The pie lasted a little longer, and the two trifles I made have just been polished off as my sister and her husband turned up too. It was a blueberry and blackberry trifle and a lemon and raspberry with white chocolate trifle.
Thanks for this recipe, in such a simple straightforward way. You made it a pleasure to watch. Looking forward to making this tonight for me and my lovely fella.x
new subscriber here hiya, saw your gammon video and i am going to try it its the best one ive ever seen also going to try this recipe for toffee apple crumble , your recipes are great and you are such a happy wee person i feel like im with a dear friend, anyways im looking forward to trying out all these gorgeous recipes lol, have a great day xx
Thank you. Im going to make this very soon. I make a really good apple crumble, but you have given me this wonderful addition with that toffee sauce, wow, cant wait to make this for my family, YUM!
Oh Wow, its probably too sweet for me but I'd still love it. I have all the ingredients so I think I'll chance it, thanks soooo much for sharing Cheryl 😀
Just popped up in my news feed and what a genius way to make crumble.😋😋 I know I am going to love your channel,it’s just exactly what I love and miss from home, including your voice, such a treat. Thank you.😊
I must thank you for this wonderful recipe. I am not a very good cook at all - quite awful in fact - but this was so easy to follow and we absolutely loved it! That sauce is spectacular. Only thing was i didn't have any cream, so used milk instead, and it wasn't as rich as yours, but still delicious. Thank you for sharing the recipe, and for explaining it so simply. Warmest greetings from Australia.
I don't like cooked apples Cheryl but I will certainly make good use of the toffee sauce.........yummy yum yum over pancakes or ice cream. Thank you for this one xx Jean from Scotland.
I tried this. It didn't look quite like yours when cooked as some of the sauce went on top of the crumble. I was disappointed but thought what the heck I'll try it. OMG it tasted divine. Ok my crumble may not win awards for looks but who cares; it's taste that matters.
Great recipe, you have nice hands, beautiful nails it shows you take good care of them. Your accent reminds me of my Mum. You are such a fantastic cook, I'm glad you share your videos. Thank you.
That looks so delish! I can almost smell it. I always use Granny Smith for baking. Like to make a crisp, I put lots of rolled oats in the topping. Convince myself because of the oats it's almost health food. Thanks for the recipe!
That looked absolutely stoating. Wouldn't be able to make my mind up whether to have ice cream, squirty cream or custard...so it would be a combo of the three
Lovely! Granny Smiths are my fave, but I picked up something called "Jazz" on offer last week for very very cheap, will have to use those. Home made ice cream made from double cream and not much else would be perfect, but is there anything double cream doesn't make better? I was just wondering what I might do with all these apples, so cheers for appearing in the nick of time!
I agree Laura what a decadent but all American treat Cheryl you make the greatest things Will you do some videos on Thanksgiving foods you make ? I would love to see that
I love apple crumble that was the first thing we made at secondary school cooking class. So good but toffee adding into it oh just another level Cheryl. So good on a winter night with custard. Thank you for sharing your time today with us today. 💖
I remember my mom making that when I was young. Is it a traditional scottish recipe? My great grandparents immigrated from Scotland in 1906, and my granny was full scottish so I'm guessing that's where my mom learned it
Hi Cheryl. Just a couple of questions. I thought the sauce on the one I cooked was a bit watery? Is that normal? I used a digital scales but it depends on how long I thickened the sauce in the pan? Any chance you could give me feedback on how to tell when the thickness is right. Because it throws me as when it's boiling it's runnier but when cold this kind of thing usually thickens. You said a few minutes? I did it about 4 or 5 and then 5 minutes on sauté with the Apples Second point.. is the sweetness. It was crazy sweet. Even for me with a sweet tooth. I gave the last few spoons to my wife... Any way to reduce sweetness without affecting the overall toffee consistency? Thanks
Oh, that toffee sauce!!! I could eat that on its own, with a spoon! I must make this.
Oh me too Lisa! Lovely over ice-cream 😋

Oh my!! This would be perfect for a good old fashioned American Thanksgiving dessert table!
It would indeed Laura! So easy to make and could be made quite cheaply for a lot of people 😋
Now that is a fabulous idea. Thank you, Laura. ❤️
Ah this is what I’m going to make for this weekend! A little bit of Scotland in my house! 🏴
I made that last weekend for our thanksgiving (Canadian). It was a hit 😊
@@WhatsForTea I don't use any almonds in my crumble mix or=
toffee sauce
As an alternative to the almonds Cheryl, I sometimes add a wee handful of Porridge Oats to my crumble mix - gives it a nice, crunchy bite.
Me too and also some granola!
I use them both and some cinnamon which doesn't clash with the toffee apple at all
MMMMMMmmmmmmmm looks delish, will definitely give this a try......
This is a great Holiday dessert dish , going to make this for the US Thanksgiving instead of apple pie
My grandma made a similar dish. We call it apple crisp in the US. It’s one of my favorites.
