    When I was a kid, we used Reel Mowers, you didn’t dare let your grass get to long, or you had to cut it by hand, with a sickle. Since owning one of the new mowers, with these blades, I stopped hating grass cutting, yard work. Good equipment makes a big difference in your attitude, toward yard maintenance. I love these blades, leaves the yard looking beautiful! 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

    After getting the Original blades, I’m quite happy with the results. I’m in central Illinois, Black fertile ground, thick, tough grass/weeds, but these blades tame the yard/field, better than my farmer neighbors yards. Since I’m not a commercial mower, these make me look like one. These blades make your brand of mower, look at its best, and beyond expectations! I wouldn’t be at all afraid to buy these new ones for my city mowing. I’ll probably try a set this winter. Love your videos, & John’s blades! Looking forward to more of these videos!

    Great to see videos that show exactly what is happening. Your videos don't beat around the bush you show every thing whether good or bad. Your reviews from what I have seen are as honest as they come very refreshing. Others cut videos and are not as forthcoming. Mike what I want to know is you say the motor is not straining I run a team of mowers and the amount of gas that I use and the wear and tear is great what are the benefits of these blades for the professional such as yourself and others like me.

    • @Something2LookAt
      @Something2LookAt  4 роки тому +2

      I hear what you're saying. We go through a lot of gas too. Which is another reason why I don't often run at full throttle. It's just not necessary. With these blades even more so. Many regular consumers don't know how the throttle governor works. The mower may seem as though it's keeping roughly the same RPM as you mow through thicker grass, but that's because your governor is calling on more fuel flow. You hear a difference when it reacts, but that's why they don't stall out. But in this case you'll notice that you don't even hear a reaction. Even on the really thick stuff at the end. The engine just stays constant. That a sure sign that it's not encountering strain, and not calling for more fuel.

    I love my beast blades took on the world and mowed it down. Thanks Hans and Mike , now the Finisha I have to get it. I am trying to explain to people how much less stress is put on the mower which means a faster mow less gas that's money in my pocket.

    • @Something2LookAt
      @Something2LookAt  4 роки тому +3

      Exactly. And the Finisha blades sail through this stuff even easier than the Beast blades. You will love them. I left them on the mowers and I'll come back and report how they do on a long term test. I'm using them for all my yards now.

    I'd love to see another run through that last area with the blade wings set below the deck edge. I feel like that would eliminate those few popups and make a (mostly) acceptable one cut pass.
    Still hard to believe those wings don't tear up the lawn or leave some kind of obvious pattern. Hope John got a patent on that design, the big companies have got to be smacking their engineers in the back of the head asking why they didn't come up with that first lol.
    Also want to see how these do on a push-mower - that could make a really interesting "overgrown" video

      ford tractor I’ve mowed one week, let the grass set on top, till the next mowing, on long grass/weeds, then when I mowed the next time, it turned the dead grass/ weed, to a dust that blowed away in the wind! That was with 12 - 18” long material! After 1 or 2 more cuttings, the field turned into lawn quality! This was with the Beast Blades. Looks like an Estate, not a field. Been mowing with them ever since, and will continue to, until these new blades arrive! Still getting used to the lack of resistance! That and the economy of running my machine. I don’t have enough work to own a Cheetah, but I am really impressed with everything Mike has done. He sold me on these blades, and I’m not disappointed! 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻💰

    • @Something2LookAt
      @Something2LookAt  3 роки тому +1

      There is actually rarely a reason to run at full throttle. The idea that the engine manufacturer requires the engine to always be run at full throttle is a myth. Many people make that claim, but nobody can show it in a manual. There are occasions for running full throttle, but most of the time it's just wasting gas. And with these big engines, it's a lot of gas. I look at clipping disbursement only. Whatever throttle level is laying it down nice and even is what I go with.

    The problem I see with these blades on finish turf, is the downward portion of the blade. It seems to me, it would cause excess damage to the ends of the blades of grass... causing more browning in a day or two, more moisture loss through the blade, and greater potential for "rust" (a red fungi that is especially threatening to fine blade turf grasses) or other parasites.

    • @johnkavli8181
      @johnkavli8181 4 роки тому +3

      HI Sylent Xtinction we have been using the Beast blade for over three years testing and re testing haven't seen anything that you could classify as threatening to the turf. The Finisha has been used on a golf course turf for approximately 13 months nothing that we could identify as negative to the turf. Do they ship to the U.S.? I came across your video and I'm extremely interested and have tried everything here where I'm at. I'm in South Texas where we have St. Augustine grass and Bahia tall farm grass and the last couple years I've been trying so many options to get a clean look without it being a chore or having to cut in a slow crawl. The Bahia is such tough grass with seed stalks also and have to cut twice a week so that it doesn't bog my mower down while cutting, yet I have to bag about 4 contractor bags of grass a week so as to not leave so much dead long grass blades in my yard every week, because that will not break down on its own like that. I have a John Deere Z525e Z-trak mower. It takes forever to cut having to go so slow. Would these work? Would I need to have a commercial type mower? I've tried 2 types of gator blades and they cut just ok but I shouldn't have to cut to a slow creep in order to do so. I can't do the x-blade set up I was told because it's only for a commercial mower with larger spindles. Can these be used on homeowner Z-trak mowers? Any help would be greatly appreciated. I'm at my wits end here. Thank you

    Do you sharpen blades if they are brand new?

      THAT is a good question! I don't know. I did sharpen these, but I don't always sharpen brand new blades. Hard to tell how sharp it is under all that paint. John, you would know. Are consumers in general supposed to sharpen brand new blades?

    I really wanted to be impressed with those blades. However, I can see what they're doing on the first pass, and then they pretty much clean it up on the second pass. Honestly I think any sharp blade would do the same. I may still have to try a set and see how they do

    • @Something2LookAt
      @Something2LookAt  2 роки тому

      Oh no they wouldn't! Of course on a mower like this, the first pass would be pretty good even with the standard blades that came with it. But with a lot of experience with this mower and can tell you it is far better than standard or even Gator blades. Very impressive.

      @@johnkavli8181 Oh they don't weld them together or anything. Like for this experiment I'll just put a Beast and a Finisha on the same spindle 90 degrees staggered. I did it with Gator blades once on a video. Seems like they would drift from 90 degrees but they don't move. Even if they did they would still drift evenly and still be balanced, but they don't. It will be a fun "How bad can bad get?" experiment. lol
