  • Mowing tall thick grass with my brand new Cub Cadet CC 800. Yes, I cut the deflector. It surprised me how well it did. Very strong little machine. Btw, it has 2 blades and a 33 inch cut. I will try to get some footage of it cutting really high St Augustine grass soon.

      You said it. And you are completely correct. I am blessed to have success on this channel but I have other channels where I have put incredible hours of work into, and the videos really are good according to the handful of viewers that saw them. But if the algorithm don't like you, you will not get views. No algorithm suggesting means nobody knows that the video is there. All I can suggest is to keep at it. My channel here took about 2 years to really get going.

    first video I've seen about grass cutting, that actually had tall/thick grass to cut.
    I will say, that I used to use a DR Brush, The walking and struggling to keep the mower moving in the right direction on a slope really takes 'it' out of a person.
    In other words, I would use a riding mower for that field.
    I see you found a rattle snake. Another great reason to use a ridding lawn mower.

      Fun fact, I bought the Craftsman version 15 years ago. In the ad it listed it as a zero turn. Which it is actually. A human powered zero turn. lol. I had no idea what I was buying. I thought the 2 handles were left and right turns like a regular commercial walk behind. It wasn't even a good picture on the website. But it sure was a neat little mower anyway and Cub Cadet really improved it very well. The electric start was the best addition. The old Briggs 10.5 hp on the Craftsman had a kickback so strong that it would either pull your shoulder out or wack, or literally pull the tire off the ground when your holding it firm, being ready for a kickback. Love the electric start.

    With ethanol in fuels it’s best to fill and run it dry on push mowers. But be prepared for ruined carb gaskets on weed eaters. It makes them go hard. If you know what your doing take stock. The bad is it attracts water. I know when I get back home I’ll find some sta bil or star tron to put in my riding and some in my push. Even though they’ll get used for leaves still it keeps water from accumulating in the tank. With my ex mark battery has to go on charge until full. And with it being cold 🥶 I use an electric heater blowing on the block to heat up the oil. It usually takes about an hour of heating. So will your equipment go when it turns cold.?

      We lawn services all have many mowers. The main reason to have a mower like this is to be able to fit through a gate to a sometimes huge backyard which has a small gate. Can't get the big mowers in there. On this video of course things are wide open and you would never use a push mower like this. Nice work! I get that you are showing of the new mower but why have a large walk behind finish mower? It looks like it can wear you out if used for any extended period of time.

    • @Something2LookAt
      @Something2LookAt  4 роки тому +1

      We use walk behinds only when we have to, and it's mainly because of narrow fence openings stopping us from getting our big mowers into back yards. But we still need to mow as fast as possible to get all our yards done for the day. I have found that 33" is the maximum size that will still allow me to get through all the gates.

      You have to mess with the belts because the blade mount is not just a circle, it's a shape. It's a bit tricky trying to get them to line up the right way again because they move as you re-attach the tensioner. But considering they are running on a tooth belt, you can even count or mark teeth and re-adjust.

    • @Something2LookAt
      @Something2LookAt  4 роки тому

      Ok, so it's the propulsion belt eh? Curiously I've never had that issue with the Craftsman version or the new Cub Cadet. It is of course cable controlled so it might be as easy as adjusting the throw on the cable, or the cable isn't secured meaning loose where it mounts, or maybe something with the idler arm. Just look under the deck at what's moving when you engage the handle. If that belt tension isn't really tight when engaged, then look to see what's adjustable. Or contact Tractor Supply. They will handle warranty I'm sure. But I'm sure you could figure it out. Probably an adjustment.
      Btw, mine arrived by truck too and the crate it was in was on a 2nd pallet because the first one was shattered. lol. So, yes, shipping can be a bit of a war zone and rough on a brand new machine.

    They are good mowers but some say a handfull to operate. Also, my brother got the new 28 inch for his small gated back yards and the ignition coil gave out after a month. Hopefully yours doesn't have the crappy China engine.

      I think the bigger the deck. To a certain point. You would get a better cut like a 48 to a 52.. on a walk behind. And they also work well in residential areas. Most walk-behind nowadays. Turn into the brush Hogs and cutting Hills. Have you run into a gate yet that smaller than a 36 where you had to take in a smaller lawn mower

      It will easily pull a sulky. I made a video on that. • @Something2LookAt
      @Something2LookAt  4 роки тому +1

      It is very strong, it will have no problem going up hill. You may be surprised how much it can pull. Very strong transmission. It can easily pull a garden tractor, I've done it. I have to go up and out of ditches constantly with it too. No problem.

    • @Something2LookAt
      @Something2LookAt  4 роки тому

      @Robert Downey Worth every penny. And very strong transmission. It will easily pull itself up a hill, if you don't get any wheelspin. But the transmission drive belt is not gonna slip if that's what you're worried about. Then the drive to the wheels is mechanical. Very solid.
