Hi I Brian from the The uk I use 3 air die grinders all are DESOUTTER AND ONE METABO GE950-G electric with speed control built in only just found your channel BRILLIANT !! In more ways than one cheers BRIAN !!!
I'm porting a Set of OUT OF BOX NEW OLD STOCK SVO GT40ALUMINUM THEY WERE CALLED GT40ALUMINUM ORGT40 TURBOSWIRL As well as y302 they are 356 casting .I have ported many aluminum and cast castings as well as billet aluminum heads . These basterds are different they are from 2000 so could just be metallurgy is spot on anyhow whoever cast these for ford racing aka ford motorsports left a ton on the table I mean like when you buy edelbroc virgin as cast head with no seat location and tiny ex and intake ports after poping plugs out to get insode water jackets do some shenanigans to map out port wall thickness before sonic testing I had enough to raise the hell out the intake enough I went ahead tig welded up all floors ,short turns these are the ultimate sleeper heads whonis going to look at a set of svo gt40 aluminum heads . The flow numbers swirl, velocity bias was easy to get straight chamber was easy I now wish I would have moved the seats and guides and stuck a bigger intake valve in em but i am running a nice sized vortec with these heads so I went 1.940in 1.650ex i usually run as large exaust valve I can on power adders works great for me I also belive there is alot to be had with a smaller valve . Just look at newer cylinder heads and power levels and ports
@@vinmandich7756 I’ve never ported the GT40 head but I did one set of ford Eldebrock performer rpm’s once and I’ll never do that again. Only way to make them better is to sell it and get a trickflow. You’re right, there was much more to do with the older stuff.
@@mikerieck306 Got my 1st a couple yrs ago. Was super impressed how easy they are to use and quiet! Need to get my new cable on and do another set of heads.
Enormous ports in heads look good to customers who are clueless, and will increase HP slightly at very high rpm, and provide impressive numbers on a flow bench. They will also reduce torque and HP at lower engine speeds. Air tools will certainly remove lots of material, but are noisy, cumbersome, imprecise, and expensive to run. Pendant motor and flex drive is much more suitable, but perhaps not for those who still think bigger is better, needing to remove 3-4mm from port walls.......................lol
@@humourless682 Nah I'm tryna keep it reasonable, just enough porting to benefit from the beefier valve springs and lifters I'm installing (springs from small block chevy, lifters from small block ford into a ford 3.0 V6)
Have you ever used or seen DOT CO Adjustable as well as fixed pneumatic grinders they are on same playing field as cleetco I love my cleetcos but when it comes to exaust ,power and adjustability on ex an power THE OLD DOTCO ARE. KING IN MY HAND I STILL HAVE THE TWO OG MAKITA GRINDERS HELL I REMEMBER BEING ABLE TO BUY THEM NEW FOR 120 FIND ONSALE FOR 75 ONCE BOUGHT TWO THEY don't make new ones like those old ones
I think cleco and dotco are the same company. Been awhile but I think so. Ive never used a dotco but I think they are on the same playing field. Your right on the Makita! I buy them 2 at a time, I break them often lol. I was even buying them from Canada when they stopped making them in the USA.
You may have carpal tunnel syndrome. I have had to take a few weeks from porting to recover from numbness and tingling. There are hand and wrist exercises to help prolong your grind time tolerance. If it continues, you may find relief with carpal tunnel surgery.
I use anti vibration gloves sometimes. But, with the electric grinder, and the burrs we use and grinding on aluminum makes for happy hands but the air grinder will beat up my hands for sure.

Muy buenas tardes y Dios le bendiga, donde podria conseguir esos super spiral, si hay alguna pagina o con ustedes mismos ya que soy de Puerto Rico 🇵🇷 y me encantaria conseguirlas , lo demas ya lo tengo.
I like to put a vacuum cleaner in the other end of the port I’m grinding, helps keep it clear and easy to see what you’re doing. Easy clean up.
love those Hi-Helix burrs. and the control with the speed controler and electric makita's 0600's.
How do you keep the burrs from plugging up with aluminum?
@@bluedemon79 i use the blue Boe-lube from MSC. works fantastic.
Great tool doing porting cylinders head. I ❤ super spiral burr . Save time to shape

May I know equipment for measurements before and after porting job.. 😅😊 fan from Malaysian with ❤❤❤
You can use inside mics or snap gauges
SPEED CONTROL WITH A FOOT PEDAL WORKS TOO
Foredom..hands free like they should be
@@gordocarbo They are awesome porting tools.....I have 4 of them. Tremendous torque for great low speed operation.

My heads were cast with a lot of extra meat to save money, so I think I can get away with 1-2 mm.
@@ajhauter5049 Why not spend time and money on doing enormous ports, which will make you go slower?

You guys need to restock your bits !!!
The issue is, they sell out sometimes before they even get on the website
Hi Dave. After porting and sanding for 2 days my hands have been tingling. Do you use any gloves during porting and sanding to reduce the vibration?
You may have carpal tunnel syndrome.

When do you think the burrs will be in stock again?
Good question! We had a huge order that sold out in 3 days so now waiting on an even larger order which takes awhile.
