I love this, I am going to do this for my display furniture in my shop. I use all the drawers to display in so this will be great, we (my husband and me) are returning and decorating during the winter so I will have enough space to do this, thanks for sharing, I love your videos with the hubby.🌹
Love this blue color and workmanship! Adding the wheels you have collected is such a lovely touch. You two are really craftsmen/women. I would recommend you wear thin gloves and a mask when working with these paints and chemicals. Our bodies are amazing sponges for these chemicals, and if you do this a lot over time, they will accumulate inside your lungs and skin and cause problems.
Camilla Roper this paint is all natural with no VOC, made from clay. 👍 but we do wear gloves and masks when we use oil based products. Thank you for watching!
Love from Jacksonville, FL. I recently starting watching your tutorials on UA-cam to add to my toolbox of techniques, thank you for those BTW! Way to go trolls! If it's not your style, cool, click the next video, move on. Why take the time to leave a nasty comment? Nothing better to do? I'm stuck at work for another 30 minutes and I have nothing better to do atm, so I'm leaving my two cents too! ;)
I dunt care for c this but if others like it then cool. I'm going down to the paint store and buy all the .50 paint and then going to start painting all my furniture around and hope to sell sell sell!! Thank you
I love this piece. I’m a new furniture artist and am going to look at my pile and see what I have to try something like this on. Would you be willing to share your asking price for this? Thanks!!
Hello Jamie, wonderful job 😍😍😍 could you confirm that the bottle spray is only water ? Or water and vinegar ? I dream to make a stage session with you 😉 Kiss from south of France 🌞
The DIY paint Brand I used is a clay based paint with some chalk in it. I’ve blended with other brands but the DIY brand seems to blend the best because it’s highly pigmented.
The green color was actually really lovely. In my opinion anyway, I would've done an updated coat of the Kelly green color, including the applique piece and then use the black wax over the entire piece aging it nicely and then sanding the edges to age more and boom. The odd gradient is a bit strange for my tastes But who knows.... maybe someone that is into boho or has a place near a beach can appreciate this piece. Gorgeous furniture find for sure! Nice effort!
I loved that dark green. The black wax idea is cool. I've just been watching some videos that turned up sporadically. Watched a guy do a really wonderful weathered window with salt---not salt wash--and a whole bunch if other things-no chalk paint. BUT it was extremely complicated, and the window was miniature,. It would have taken a year to do a real window.
I m just starting to learn how to paint distress.I have beautiful antique pantry cabinet that I want to do. It has idk how many coats of paint on it lol! yellow under white.I really cant sand that much because of a shoulder injury.I used my air compressor to get off the areas of badly chipped areas. Do I have to get all the paint off before I paint over it
I have enjoyed your videos. I am in Australia btw and have done a lot of white chalk painting. I am interested in these colour blendings and wet destressing. I didnt quite understand what paint you are using just the colours you use. Is it chalk and can I do this blending using a spray bottle
The DIY paint I use is clay based so it’s thicker and heavily pigmented. I’ve done a little color blending with chalk paint but because chalk paint is thinner I have to be careful not to spray it so much that it just runs off the piece. 👍 We ship the paint internationally if you are interested. jamirayvintage.com/collections/diy-paint-and-finishes
Yeah, we broke the rules and did a lot of experimenting on this one. The vinegar water was 50/50 mix and typical you wax last but I wanted this piece to be a little chippier and aged so I tried sealer over the wax.
I've tried the vinegar and water thing, but have not been successful in getting that distressed bubbly effect. Don't know why. I have queen bee, mint chip and weathered wood as my top coat. Is the gray too dark? I can't figure it out.
Howdy Do Jami & Zeb!!!! Love y'all!!!! I'm a faithful watcher of your UA-cam channel. Y'all have inspired me to push forward with my new business, Attic Junktion. I love the kitty cat but the stars of the thrifting haul are the two baby blankets. They are so precious❣️
You guys are very daring and sweet. I got a bureau out of a junk yard and had to cut the feet off to fit it in my trunk. 👍🏻❤️😘
NICE ! I still can't believe that you are painting this INSIDE ! I would have paint EVERYWHERE ! You are so talented !
I did this to my daughter's dresser.. in Pinks and Purple and Blue... she Loves it!
That color combo sounds beautiful!
Jami Ray Vintage It was as Unicorn as i could get... With a few sprinkles of glitter 👍😅 Perfect 💖💙💜🦄
Amazing, that look beautiful, well done guys
Love the dark wax, especially the effect on the applique. Good job and love the effect !!

I liked it green also! This is beautiful too
This came out so nice! you did a great job!

I love it ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT
Looks good. Nice job
Omw, I LOVE this. Going to try this out on a old dresser of mine.
Will this technique work with just regular acrylic paint?
Thanks♡
Sooo beautiful!
Thanks for sharing nice job.
Beautiful. Have you ever thought about cutting out the center detail and adding an old brooch?
It does look like it’s meant to have something there doesn’t it?
GREAT idea!
Thanks!
Where did you get the white applique?
Luv your chnnel

Thank you! And they do. Someone purchased it as a Christmas present for his wife.
Love it!
Very unique but very pretty. You should have no problem selling this now.
Julie Keenum thank you!!
Love the denim blue tones but not the mint in the middles. Someone will love it. Tfs
Love!! Can the poly be put over any wax or is it just the particular brand that you used? Thank you.
So, typically you don’t want to seal over wax. It needs to breath. I always break rules though. Haven’t had an issue with it yet.
@@JamiRayVintageThank you so much for taking time to answer. Love your projects... You always make things look do easy! ☺

This piece was $295.00
Love it. Would love to see Zeb do a video on making applique and moulds
I vote for that too!
I as well would love to see that
The video is coming! We’re waiting for Molds. 👍
I third fourth fifth and infinitize this vote for the molds!!!
Hehe, this look is definitely not for everyone. Most of my finishes lean towards chippy farmhouse and French country. 😊❤️
Cool technique. The appliqué makes the piece. Why did you apply a polycrylic after it was waxed?
You two are funny 😂 in a good way ✨✨✨✨✨👌🏽
Hello Jamie, wonderful job 😍😍😍 could you confirm that the bottle spray is only water ? Or water and vinegar ? I dream to make a stage session with you 😉 Kiss from south of France 🌞
Did you clear wax before the black wax? Or no bc you wanted a darker effect?? You make it look so easy. Ahhhh! Love it!
I just went right on with the dark wax with this piece. No clear wax underneath or blending of waxes.
Have you tried using a blow dryer to move the paint on top?
Tiffany Johnson I haven't. That's a good idea
That piece is super cool! Can you do this technique with chalk paint also, or is it better with a regular paint?
The DIY paint Brand I used is a clay based paint with some chalk in it. I’ve blended with other brands but the DIY brand seems to blend the best because it’s highly pigmented.
That turned out so beautifully. I love it. Did you just use distilled vinegar?
Dana Clark Just white vinegar

The paint you paint over will stick as well as what’s underneath it. You’ll want to sand it smooth. So there aren’t ridges. 👍
Thank you

beautiful
What kind of poly did you spray? You sprayed over the wax, which surprised me. Will the poly stick? Thanks!
Dottie Daniel polyacrylic and it's almost completely wiped off. So it works great. If you used a ton and it was thick I wouldn't suggest it
So the vinegar water made it crackle. ??? 50/50. You waved it then sealed it. ?? Normally wax will repell sealer.?? Very interesting project.
Yeah, we broke the rules and did a lot of experimenting on this one. The vinegar water was 50/50 mix and typical you wax last but I wanted this piece to be a little chippier and aged so I tried sealer over the wax.

vinagre blanco!!??

Is the diy paint odorless? Im really sensitive to smells
It’s clay based so it smells a little like wet clay. That’s all I’ve noticed as far as smell goes.

Once I have wiped the wax off the remaining wax you want to stay on.
You are wearing a Jayne's reliable T-shirt---are you in Delaware!?
I was back in September. I met them at the DIY paint boot camp that we had there last year.
I live 10 minutes away from them! Cool to see that on you! Also liked you techniques. I'm working a on large oval table that's fighting me!
Don’t let the table win! Lol. Good luck!

How long does this take to dry?
A couple hours. Not much longer than a normal paint finish.
Errrrr not a fan of that, but everyone has their own taste. ❤️❤️ love your work.
It’s ok. It’s not for everyone. 👍
Where can l get the aplique?
We no longer make them but we’re thinking about bringing them back in the spring.
The contrast is too stark. The lighter patches are too distinct and could be softer. Love the appliqué!
I tried doing this but it was so watering bubbles raised up after it dried. Any suggestions on how to avoid and maybe how to fix? Lol thx
What paint were you using?
Same paint you used but in different colors
Hmmm. Can it be sanded? It sounds like it may have gotten too wet but it’s hard to say without seeing it. Can you send me a picture on Facebook?
I can try sanding it and see what happens. I Will try to send a pic later on FB. Thanks for your quick response.....I am a BIG Fan!!!! You guys are awesome
Sounds good! ❤️❤️
Did you use a clear wax before applying the black wax?
Christina Ramirez nope just black wax then wiped off with a damp rag
Is it possible to distress furniture made with particle board?
Yes. I would recommend doing a wet distress using a damp rag instead of using sand paper.
When you were “water distressing” was that 100% water or did it have the vinegar in it?
pretty sure she said 50/50 mixture... :)
She used 50/50 when she was blending the paint. But then said she did a “water distress” at the end. I was wondering if I’m the water distress if it had vinegar
Moriah Ray I used 50/50 at first but the wet distressing at the end was just water
Jami Ray Vintage This is the most awful looking thing I have ever seen. I wouldn't use it in my garage.
Horrible

El liquido que usas en la botella, es agua?
Si
Es agua con vinagre
Agua
It worries me when you just slap the paint on, but everything always turns out amazing.
I would have bought it with the original green.
