Seriously loved seeing this. Reminds me of my childhood memories of Summertimes at the lake house. Always a favorite! My mom and granny would load up trays of fresh veggies for dipping and whipped butters for round bread loafs. Greek dips were always on the offering, especially Cucumber Dips.
The proper way to pronounce Tzatziki is.. "Greekyogurtcucumberanddillsauce". Looks scrumptious! Also can I substitute a milkshake for the salad? 🤔...Thanks Chef Buck! Miss you CG!
A friend of mine who is a Greek and a Greek Restaurant owner, gave me his recipe for Tzatziki... He mixed it 50/50, Greek Yogurt and Sour Cream... You might try that :-)
The Gyro is my favorite sandwich of all time, and I suspect it has a lot to do with the tzatziki sauce. I've made a few variations over the years, but I've never added dill, mint, AND parsley. Ya blew my mind chef! (It's so hard to find fresh herbs where I live too so that never helps... and before you mention a small herb garden, I'm pretty sure we kill anything we try to grow before it even hits the soil.) :)
I'm the opposite of a green thumb...it always seems like yard work to me...and now that we live in a city in a 3rd floor studio apartment, I don't have to feel guilty about not growing my own herbs
Thanks for the recipe! It turned out great. I used it with ground lamb meat I shared it with one of my patient's daughter and she asked for the recipe cause she also thought it was awesome! Thanks again! I used Dill.
glad you like it! thanks for watching!--another trick I've found for a super easy middle eastern style sauce is to mix about a tablespoon of crushed dried oregano into 8-12 ounces of sour cream...put it in the fridge, and the next day it's a perfect sauce for pita sandwiches and falafel
Watched several recipe videos and yours is the only one to give the salt/stain tip. I'm going to be making the best tzatziki sauce for my fish. Thank you.
I've got vids for the hummus and pita chips, but I haven't shot a vid for the lamb balls...I'll be sure and film it next time we throw together stuffed pitas, although it's a silly simple lamb dish...just garlic, fennel seed, salt, and pepper
As a greek i have to say, key ingredient in a true tzatziki sauce is garlic. Lots of it! Many disaster date stories stories start with "on my first date my breath stinked of tzatziki"
TheSocratesian You add whatever you want. I've seen many people use mint. Greek people included.... I personally wouldn't. Dill, garlic and lemon is good for me.
I'm 100% Greek on both sides and never saw anything but dill, garlic, lemon and olive oil. Of course you can always add whatever you like as you said. I might even try it myself. I'm sure its fine.
I'm Greek too, yet my grandma used to use red vinegar instead of lemon and no dill. However, I've seen a regional variant, I think from the islands, where they added fine chopped fresh diosmos(spearmint), and it actually enhances taste, even adds an extra kick after it sits in the refrigerator for a while.

Beautiful dinner! I often make a big batch of tzatziki on Sunday, slice up some veggies, and bring it to work on Monday for lunch all week.

ba-dump! CG came home and said something about the Zika virus... from that point on I couldn't come remotely close to saying tzatziki
Hmm so yummy feel hungry..thanks for sharing the nice video
Looks scrumptious can't wait to try it out
A friend of mine who is a Greek and a Greek Restaurant owner, gave me his recipe for Tzatziki... He mixed it 50/50, Greek Yogurt and Sour Cream... You might try that :-)
definitely will give it a try!--sour cream is cheaper....and I'm always on board for that
DStray Cat wow, someone else does that?... He probably stole the idea from me!....but really, it does make for a an excellent taste!
Love tzatziki! It goes so well to so much. I'll try to add some herbs and oil next time.
Awesome!! I'm making this this weekend. Thanks Chef B.
I thought I made enough tzatziki have some on the weekend, too, but it's all gone...till next time
Looks yummy and super duper easy to make!!!!
yeah...very easy, but needs a few hours to sit, for sure...kinda like soup or spaghetti sauce--even better on day 2
This is great thank u for sharing! Did you use the cucumber skin and juice to make noodles
Love a bit of tzatziki on my lamb burger such a great combo.
looks like some good sauce definitely going to make some

Chef Buck ;A Lot of people are now growing herbs in their apartments . So feel guilty . (lol)
Thanks for the recipe! It turned out great. I used it with ground lamb meat I shared it with one of my patient's daughter and she asked for the recipe cause she also thought it was awesome! Thanks again! I used Dill.

...tahszeekie sauce! lol. Great vid! What time is dinner? lol
This is what makes a falafel taste so good.
agreed!
Thank you
Love these vids keep it up

A dinky do lemon... Lol I say dinky do too!
Thanks for sharing.. Looks delish 😊
Yep. This was delicious with my piri piri roast chicken :)
Can this be frozen for future use.? Thanks for sharing.
Ya know, this was pretty good
I never cared for Greek Yogurt to begin with, But It may be time for me to get into it now! Tzatziki sauce is definitely new to me! xD
greek yogurt is the way to go with this dish, otherwise it's too thin for my taste...goes great with toasted pita chips
***** I'll keep that it mind! I love pita chips! :D
Chef Buck any substitute for greek yogurt can't find here!
Wow. I thought my tzatski sauce was good. I'm tossing that out and using your recipe. Thank you!
Tsah-Tsee-kee sauce. Nice job. I'm sure you have some Greek brother in you somewhere. It's a hard 'T' no ' z' in there anywhere.
I like 2 parts dill to 1 part mint.
Can you use ginger instead of garlic?
Thanks for the recipe! it was okay but for some reason mine came out bitter, I used only dill as far as the green herbs go!
Helen Hopkins ur cucumber was probably bitter
Helen Hopkins... too much raw garlic can taste bitter...
😮I HAVE THAT SAME BOWWLLLL....WE ARE SO DESTINED😂
Come on Chef, I need to see how to make the lamb to go with the sauce, lol!
I've got vids for the hummus and pita chips, but I haven't shot a vid for the lamb balls...I'll be sure and film it next time we throw together stuffed pitas, although it's a silly simple lamb dish...just garlic, fennel seed, salt, and pepper
+Chef Buck sounds great, thanks!
Good sauce I just added garlic to it
Tzatziki is made with white wine vinegar not lemon juice. Also you have to make garlic paste .The final product should not have garlic bits in it!
I like a little sour cream in mine
Geez, where have you been?
workin, workin, workin! ...it was just a phase, though, not really my style
I'm confused I thought you put mint in it
You can add diced fresh mint leaves, but it's optional, as is dill.
FYI Greek Tzatziki is made with red wine vinegar not lemon,
As a greek i have to say, key ingredient in a true tzatziki sauce is garlic. Lots of it! Many disaster date stories stories start with "on my first date my breath stinked of tzatziki"
🤣🤣🤣👄😘💨👅💨👃🧄garlic 😋 yummy... too funny
close enough, I guess
You are hilarious

Parsely? Mint? You are definitely not a Greek dude.
