You know what would be a sick video topic? How to color match the FS5 with the FX3. How to get as close in camera and then match in post.
That's a great idea! Ive never actually shot with both cameras. That would be interesting to see how well they match.

I still use two fully setup FS5MIIs along with my A7SIII. The image will come out very close but you will need to grade a little bit. I use the Sony LUTs and they work well.

A Cine Saddle might be helpful for your b-roll shoots!
You read my mind!!! I've been looking more into these. I have an easy rig but I don't use it that much anymore. It's pretty awkward for smaller shoots and walking through doorways lol Just gotta save a little cash for a Cine Saddle, They are pretty pricey.
@@JoelGabrielsen I use mine on pretty much all my shoots that need b-roll. It lives in the boot of my car! They are really handy and a great investment. Once you have it, you won't regret it.
Watched this video twice and I agree. Keeping my two FS5MII’s is better than trying to upgrade to FX6. There are even some disadvantages such as S&Q with the cache recording.

With my experience, especially in ProRes Raw, you can easily adjust white balance in post production editing. In just ProRes HQ, there is a bit less data to work with. The downside of course is much larger file sizes. Negated y faster editing and easier processing because it is uncompressed. The presets are really not an issue of adjusted in post. Due to the type of chip, if white balance was adjusted in the picture profile, the reds and blues would be thrown off a little bit due to additional noise based on how the camera is designed. So post production is not that much of an inconvenience.

Thought I outgrew my FS5, sold it and now shoot mirrorless (Nikon Z6). However recently I was playing around with Filmconvert (never used LUTs before) and when I put some of those over my old FS5 footage I was absolutely amazed how well the footage responds to the LUTs and how gorgeous it looks. Sounds cliché but could easily get Alexa quality skin tones with the LUTs applied to FS5 footage (even the 4k 8bit stuff!). There must be a reason they still command quite high prices on the second hand market. Also I really miss the ergonomics and weight and portability of the FS5. If I find one for a good price I would be highly tempted to buying it.
Absolutely agree with you! Still a great camera. You can definitely find some used ones for a good price but they definitely retain good value. Im definitely going to keep two for sure. They still work great.

Absolutely! I would recommend doing a "Buy It Now" vs an auction. I feel like i'm always disappointed putting things up an auction. It will take longer to sell via "Buy It Now" but i'm okay waiting a bit. You can also accept offers which is nice. They have a promoted feature you can apply to the listing. eBay will promote your listing but will take a extra% of the final sale. I think it's worth it. I always get way more views with the promotion. I also use eBay for shipping. You can save a little money purchasing a shipping label through eBay vs shipping yourself.

Hey boss, so there’s a fs5 for sale for $1000 but the lcd isn’t included ? Lol. Is it work buying ? Or do I need the lcd in order to hook up the external monitor to it in the settings ?
For sure!!! That's a great deal. You could always use the viewfinder to change setting. You don't need the LCD. The view finder is not that great but to just change settings it works fine. You could always replace the viewfinder for pretty cheap. Ive seen some on eBay for $100-$200.
Another option.
If you don't need to record externally you can always push the camera settings through the SDI or HDMI to your monitor so that way you can monitor settings and see your image on a bigger screen.

Good question! I have multiple cameras so I try to dedicate a color to each camera. I put a pice of tape on all the accessories. Even the case. It's make it easy for setup/tear down when I have other people helping me.

Sorry! I still use the FS5 quite a bit. You could definitely find one on the used market for pretty cheap.
I might consider a trade body for body. I have several FS5MII's and while I would definitely keep at least one because of the variable ND and S&Q which is fantastic, I am looking forward to for another camera to pair up with my A7SIII. Also the SDI is another reason that I love my FS5MIIs. I have two with less than 150hours on them.
