The Mazda question should have been worded differently. I'm glad I'm not the only one confused, so were the contestants, about what they were supposed to be responding to. It should have been, he goes HMMM every time he blanks.
I liked Brett's answer. Beans, beans, the magical fruit, The more you eat the more you toot. The more you toot the better you feel, Beans, beans, the magical meal. The Jolly Green Giant should have been familiar with that effect if anyone is!
Wow. I had to look up CNR's answer "Kitty Foyle" - It was a 1940 drama starring Ginger Rogers (Brett mentions Rogers in a quick comment), and Rogers even won the Academy Award for Best Actress for her portrayal of the title character, and the dress she wore in the film became a known as a Kitty Foyle dress (according to Wikipedia). Amazing that that was over 80 years ago now. When Gene asked the question, my first thoughts were Kitty Carlisle ("What's My Line?") and Kitty Hawk.
Instead of self or body I woulda gone with buns because they're edible like cookies. I really didn't expect the answer meat or flesh because I thought gravy was the definitive answer
Spoiler ************ Of course Richard said "Clam Bake"! After three days of teasing Mary Ann Mobley for answering "clam bake" (it really was a weird, out-of-the-blue answer at the time) in an earlier show, I was certain he'd think of that right away.
however since it's a fun and games type of show they probably do what they can to live stuff like this off air, that way it won't change the mood of set or made someone else sad about it.

I can't find any evidence that the film Ron Masak mentions, "The Sons of Erin", was ever released, at least under that name. It might possibly be his 1975 film "The Man from Clover Grove", which is about a man who makes toys for orphans.
Perhaps it's her general negativity: body language and tone or perhaps what might appear to be jealous towards the younger, prettier, and/or more talented women.
Truck Taxi She also spell corrected or shamed the other contestants and mis-spelled most of her own / Said others answers were stupid or showed their mistakes or first cards even when she had some of the worst answers / Put down every single other woman on the panel negatively / and told everyone what to do or was allowed or not like Gene and the judges and producers have no job ?? Not to mention never giving others a chance to talk like she is the host and literally talks the entire show and mentions Jack Klugman every other sentence , makes the African American man beside her seem like a infant and corrected his spelling to embarrass him then misspelled multiple things later on and for the rest of the episodes - If I really wanted to have a good night I would play a drinking game with every-time she comments on anything other than when its her turn to answer!!!
Tiffany Oliver it's showbiz. all the 'negativity' is her persona on the show. as from what i've read people liked her way more than they did with richard. and i don't think she's ever corrected people's spelling that much??? plus everyone else also said the others' answers are stupid all the time! one last thing, i don't agree that she mentioned klugman a lot too. allen ludden was more frequently mentioned than him! but i do agree that she would get loud sometimes anyhow she's just so frikin funny i couldn't care less

I always get him confused with Jack Burns, who played Warren on "The Andy Griffith Show".
Not anymore. Died yesterday, 9 days after Murder She Wrote star Angela Lansbury died. RIP both Ron Masak and Angela Lansbury

Three cute, lovely, sweet gals: Donna, the contestant, Jo Ann and Fannie. Great personalities and easy on the eyes.
The signed blue cards from the celebrities with the winning answers are priceless.
Have always wondered if anyone has one now. Would love to have one signed by Richard Dawson. Or at least knew if any still exist.

The autographed cards would have some sentimevalue to the contestants or their families. I wonder if they have any collector value.

And it's pronounced Mahzduh not Mazduh. Also, they have rotary engines, not pistons.
In the 70s we pronounced it the way Gene did here.

Wow, no one thought of Kitty Carlisle or Kitty Russell.
Kitty Carlisle was why I clicked on the video. I was hoping it would be up there and it wasn't.
Good thing they didn't think of those. They weren't in the top three.

I am surprised fannie didnt say anything about Alabama since this was the month of the super outbreak or tornadoes

Did Fannie actually say "...my ex-husband..."??!!?? She's gay as Christmas !!
When she said, "We don't like skinny women," she was definitely speaking for herself (as well as me).
Just because she’s gay, doesn’t mean she couldn’t have been married, especially in the 1970s.
