    This is a nice setup! When bilstein 5100s are set to 1.75” on 4Runners with 3rd row seats, the 1.5” rear lift is optimal! Anything less will make the vehicle sag.
    Good work!

      Not sure a 6x6 gladiator and a mild 4Runner build wouldn't be much of an apples to apples comparison but I think the 4Runner would hold its own.

    Just to dispel the myth about 5100’s getting stiffer the higher the front settings. It’s a LIE. There is no difference between any setting. 1st 4Runner was 2.5/1.5
    Second 4 runner is 3/2. I used a 1/4 inch spacer on top of the assembly to make it 3”
    Either truck fully loaded with 4 adults. No sag ant it handled everything like a champ!

    Been following your content for years now and appreciate your videography of it! I did a 5100 lift on mine 30K miles ago, set 1.75 front and a 1" Cornfed Spacer on the rear. Liked it for awhile, but she looks saggy in the butt now. Probably going to do the Bilstein B12s as well. I want a slight forward rake. There's tons of other options, but that seems very tried and true. Are there any others you would have considered that give the same rear lift?

    I am trying to do the same type of lift! I have a pair of gifted Icon 2 inch springs would they work with the Blistein 5100s? And would they work at 1.75 without a squat or would I need to put it up another level?

    • @miggyv6856
      @miggyv6856 6 місяців тому

      If you have 2” springs then just leave the shocks at stock height nob. The shocks are rated for up to 2.5 inch height. You only raise the lift on the shock when there is no lift on the spring. In your case you have the lift from the spring.

    Hi Mike thanks to your videos I got the courage to do 5100 installation myself. I also set my front to the 3rd clip, 1.75 inches. I installed Bilstein coils in the rear and it gave it about 1.5 inch lift. I definitely like the look now. I do notice that it had a slight rake which I don’t mind. Did you notice after a while your rear coils began to break in and eventually give you a more even and balanced look? Or was yours pretty much even front to back immediately after install? Either way I am very pleased with the final look and feel of the suspension.

    Great look Mike. For me I'm wanting level, not lifted. So If I went with the 5100's on my 2020 ORP at setting 3 (1.75") and stock suspension in the rear would that be a good compromise to save a few $'s. And any issues for those with KDSS?

    • @DrivenCompanion
      @DrivenCompanion  3 роки тому +4

      If you go 1.75" in the front your rear end will be sagging. If you want to just level it I'd recommend .85" with the Bilstein 5100s. Shouldn't be any issues with KDSS either...

      @@DrivenCompanion Thanks Mike. I got the local shop to install the 5100's at 1.75" and right now everything is dead level when i measure it on a flat surface, but when I drive it it feels as though the back end is slightly lower. I'll monitor it for a few months to see if a sag develops. If so, I'll go to setting 2 as you suggested.

    • @DrivenCompanion
      @DrivenCompanion  3 роки тому +2

      Agreed that the rake would be too much unless you’re really loaded up in the back.

    • @Seattle808
      @Seattle808 3 роки тому +2

      It’s all about preference, people who actually use their rigs for camping, towing and hauling things want to leave rake, F1.75/R1.75 would make sense otherwise it would squat in the rear like a dog pooping. If it’s just a mall crawler then what upperleftnorthwest said is fine.

    • @DrivenCompanion
      @DrivenCompanion  3 роки тому +2

      To lift the rear you have to do either a spacer or new coils. The 5100s can handle the height but won't raise the back alone.

      @@stovar1182As an everyday, it’s noticeable in the rear… but not more than that. As long as you keep the front somewhat soft. For towing the safety factor is a no brainer. I was forced off the road in a construction zone with a 4500lb trailer and I was in complete control.
