    I’ve watched this a bunch of times, but this is the first time I realized you’re driving through Wilsonville. I used to live there, then Canby, before moving to Idaho. Even bought my 2018 4Runner new at Wilsonville Toyota in 2017. Miss that area so much. ❤

      AWESOME! Yup, mine came from Wilsonville Toyota, and I still live in that area. Two of my kids live in the Boise area, so it’s a favorite destination too. Happy trails 🙌

    Thanks for a great vid. I’m going the same route in 2022. Thanks for showing how yours went. I really appreciate the channels you and your brother are doing, so helpful for novices like me. And it helps we share the same backyard (I live four minutes from the tire shop). What I mean by that is the terrain, trails, etc. are very relevant to me. Many thanks again for sharing your knowledge and experiences.

    Looks awesome! Great job!
    I agree with the author, the wider the width, the worse the stability and controllability. The greater the weight and, accordingly, the load on the bearings increases, the fuel consumption increases and the acceleration dynamics decreases. Personally, I prefer to increase the profile of the tire, for example setting 255/80/17.

    285/75 r17 nice especially without having to change the front bumper. We recently went with a Hefty Fabworks front bumper and we fit 35x12.5r17. I know lots of people said that 34's and 35's you have to regear but with the right tire weight it's not to bad on power. We went with the Mickey Thompson MTZ P3's and they weight is not bad on them at all. Keep up the detailed work and videos.

    • @mastrtonberry2
      @mastrtonberry2 2 роки тому

      I'm fairly new to learning how all of this works and I'm always looking for more input, but would not regearing and running 35s put extra stress on the transmission, especially on long drives? And is it that big of an issue even if it did?
      Thanks

    • @White_buffalo_4r
      @White_buffalo_4r 2 роки тому +1

      @@mastrtonberry2 it's been done for years and it actually helps reduce the stress on everything due to the rotational torque it takes to turn the larger more aggressive tires. It does cause the motor and transmission to turn a little faster to create 1 revolution with the tire but that's how it helps build up the extra power to rotate them. Check out driving line on youtube he has a good video explaining regearing.

    Hey man, love the work you’re doing. Your rig is looking awesome. Was there a reason you went with a 285/75 over a 305/70? My wife’s 4Runner. Toyo 305/70r17s are sitting in the shop already mounted on method 701s, SPC UCAs, super tight cab mount chop and pinch weld are done, and did the high clearance cut. We’re ready to go but King gave me a 36 week ETA on our shocks though. Being patient is tough when you know the finished product will be so awesome.

    • @aired-downoverland9239
      @aired-downoverland9239  3 роки тому +4

      I really appreciate the comment and compliment; our rigs are labors of love, right? The only difference between my 285 and your 305 is the width, yours being a full 12” and mine being 11.2”. I was concerned with how tight it would be next to my UCA’s (Ironman), but I don’t think you’ll have that with SPC’s tubular design. I’ll have to figure it out one way or another, she’ll be on true 35’s after re-gearing to 4.88’s next year. 👍🏻

      Andrew, my rig has a 3” lift and 285/75R17 tires. With just that, I could fit into any garage. My rooftop basket, however, makes it so I cannot fit into parking garage. The 295/70 is slightly shorter and slightly wider than the 285/75 (33.8 vs 33.3 and 11.2 vs 11.6). With just a body mount chop and no mud flaps, I have zero rubbing. Hope that info helps

    good vid, but let's make something transparent for everyone dreaming of this..
    Making it work on road is much different than making it work off road.
    You'll rub off road 100% and possibly damage components.
    Takes $$$$ to make 34 -35 work off road properly.
    Good content however.

    But this is useless for off road.. U will rub 100% of the time.. Or is it a MALL build?

      34’s have a larger contact patch and they never rub Offroad. Go to my Instagram and you’ll see vid/pics proving this.

      @@aired-downoverland9239 for some strange reason tires sized in inches are always undersized. i just got some 255-85-16 toyo MTs to avoid the cab mount chop and they have a 106" circumference. Unfortunately a CMC wont pass inspection here.

    It just sucks that bfg is the smallest tire. Literally all other brands in the same size are taller.

    you're measuring at no compression, cycle that suspension and you'll be rubbing.

      When I say I have no rubbing I mean no rubbing. My suspension has been fully compressed with wheels turned, straight, forward, reverse…No rubbing, at all.
