I apparently need a better one. Two weeks ago I got a half sleeve from my elbow to wrist .. and it got infected... the only thing I feel I could have possibly done was hit it on something in my sleep 😭😭😭 it’s better now but not anything I want to go through again.
My tattoo use medical tattoo patch (band aid), let it if possible for up to 4 days on your skin. I can shower and all things with it, after these days its normal after care. :)
I lube the fuck out of it and then sleep in any position that keeps it from touching anything, when I got the back of my calf done I slept on my front, when I got my forearm done I slept on my back with my arm across my chest etc etc. Truthfully I don't actually get very much sleep the first few days because I can never get comfortable when I'm curled up like a pretzel being ocd about not touching my fresh ink 😂
I remember my first tattoo was on my forearm, I was so stressed about sleeping on it that I slept with my arm literally hanging off the bed and woke up about a million times in the night to make sure it was still wrapped 😂 Now I mostly use Second Skin for healing, and I don’t even think about things like sleeping on it anymore. Love the calm, scientific approach to aftercare though - definitely subscribing!
You have literally the most calming tone of all time. Mix that with the background music and overall attitude and it’s even better. I was surprised to see you werent in the millions of subs with this type of quality. You definitely earned a sub from me :) keep up the work!
Great info, but definitively wouldn't mind if the background music was lower volume to be able to concentrate more on you and what you are saying, Cheers!
Got my second tattoo today, the first one was 4 years ago so I forgot everything about the aftercare, I have been watching videos for like 10 hours. This is by far the best tattoo youtube channel I've seen so far. Thank you. You should have million views .
I love calm people who actually use scientific research as a source for there video. Its like writing a paper, sources are necessary to verify the authenticy. Refreshing to see in this youtube tattoo world
i can cry right now. i am the epitome of an overthinker and i got my first tattoo. And the tattoo artist put plastic wrap, and told stuff. But then i read some other stuff. Then i read some other other stuff. And i was spiraling and refusing to sleep. And everyone is telling things as if it would kill me (also i have a belief that i will lose my left leg at some point in my life. And i got this tattoo on my left ankle so everyone is joking that it will get infected and that will be the reason why doctors will chop that off lol) so i was almost having a panic attack from overstimulation when i came across your soothing voice and bob ross approach. Love you, you did wonders for me
I got my tattoo at 12 pm yesterday. It is now 2am and I’m stressing about the way I sleep. Your video definitely calmed me down. I was getting so annoyed that I couldn’t sleep on my tattoo and was in a awkward position. Thank you for making this!
For my inner forearm tattoo all I did was put my normal ointment on and then I put my arm through a clean pillowcase. It sounds weird but when I did this then I didn't have to worry about my sheets becoming dirty because it was all coming off in the pillowcase. Plus it felt better than re wrapping it because I've heard that is bad for the tattoo. I did this for the first 3 nights of having the tattoo
Thank you for calming this kid down with anxiety. I literally have drove myself crazy trying to figure out if its okay to sleep with a long sleeve cotton tshirt on, or if I put too much ointment on, or maybe I didnt wash it right, etc. etc. have a BSN and BS and the science behind it you provide makes too much sense rather than all the conflicting "how Ive always done it". Thank you!
Your entire demeanor and the way you speak is calming, even therapeutic. I clicked this video looking just for information, but I got a lot more than I came for. Great vid and subscribed for the positivity
Got my first tattoo yesterday. My tattoo artist told me to leave the sticky plastic on my tat for 4 days. I’ve been watching after care vids, but most say leave it on a couple hours. One, that was actually talking about the same plastic I have on, said 2 days. Probably should just listen to my artist. Great advice here though.
Wow, loving this video and this comment section. I've been having anxiety about my fresh tattoo all day, and other videos haven't helped the slightest with that. But watching this video and reading some of the comments realllly made me relax! :) Thanks a lot!
i just wanted to get some tips on tattoo aftercare and suddenly i've found inner peace and calmness i haven't known for years. i live in this channel now, gonna watch the videos to meditate ty ty haha
I’ve healed my whole sleeve with normal washing and then lotion once it starts to scab over. I got my large leg piece done and my artists preferred way of healing is sanaderm. I have to say I was skeptical at first but now I can’t get enough of it. You can shower, touch it, basically do whatever you want. I like to change it a day or two after the tattoo is done because that’s when the most fluids come out but it was the best healing experience I’ve ever had. I would recommend it to anyone. You literally just leave it on for a week and then take it off and it’s 95 percent healed
I've been working on my sleeve consisting of more than a dozen sessions starting in 2018 and I can easily say I've never had an infection. I started getting tattooed in literally the last century and I still never got infected. I started with Saran Wrap and A&D ointment and have ended up with 96+ hours of Tegarderm/Saniderm for aftercare. It all turned out just fine. I've gotten same-day tattoos sunburned and I've slept in the bed with pets with an uncovered fresh tattoo. All that's to say that it's actually pretty hard to infect a tattoo as long as it's clean during the process. Aftercare is a matter of degrees, in my opinion. How did your work heal, by the way? Is it as gorgeous as it was probably meant to be? 😊
I got a new tattoo and first I had saniderm on. I reacted allergic to the adhesive after about 2 hours and had to remove it. No damage was done and my skin soon got better with ointment and cleaning. I was still anxious about the night an wrapped it up with clingfilm. This video also calmed me down very much, knowing this will not kill me haha thanks so much!
just got my first tattoo on my forearm and oh my god i can’t stop watching your videos🙏🏾they are so informative and helps me keep my fresh tat nice and healthy!
The voice of calm right here. I am on my 6th tattoo in 12 months so have gone through the overthinking and the paranoia and am now at the stage of, I know what works for me without letting my anxiety take over so I stick to that. Thanks for sharing this.
Thank you so much, just got my first tat(matching with mum) and its assuring to be told I'll basically be fine as long as I used a cleansing method that takes care of bacteria and an ointment to keep my tat sealed and hydrated. Oh, good note with hydrating before bed!
Such a calming voice. Im looking more and more forward to getting my tattoo. Not quite sure how I will take care of it alone with it being in thee most unreachable spot on my back but....ill figure it out.
Just got my first tattoo 2 days ago, was sort of worried about the healing process since my sister hadn't really explained it, but your vids have helped put some things into perspective🥰
I just got a new tattoo on Friday. My artist gave me large clear plastic bandages to keep my ink covered and safe. It allows the tattoo to heal and breath underneath it. Something about my own plasma doing the work.
I've just come across your channel and I'm so glad I did! Not only is your voice extremely calming (as many have already said), but your videos are informative and straight to the point. Hopefully many more people will discover you soon 😊
Wait wut. this was my first time here, I really didn't expect you to only have 643 subs. im, getting my first tattoo tomorrow, half sleeve.. really excited, you made it a lot easier for me (the aftercare part) thanks, you definitely earned a new sub. :D

The soothing tone, pace and overall reassuring vibe backed-up by science really is what I needed even after 10 years of getting tattoos like yearly Thank you 🥺
For my few tattoos, I wear a plain cotton tee loosely wrapped around it. I share my bed with a little chiweenie (thankfully she's not a licker), and having the cotton cloth has been the best thing that works for me. And since the fabrics like to stick to me, in the morning I use the shower to wet the cloth stuck to the tattoo and then clean it while I'm there.
This calmed me down a lot, I’ve gotten a very small and simple fine line tattoo around 2 days ago and I’ve been trying to avoid sleeping on it since everybody says, you shouldn’t put pressure on it and I was terrified of ruining it….but I think I will be just fine☺️
Finally someone said it 😊 As someone with medical studies (and tattoos), I can agree to all that. Even with knowing all this, overthinking can get the best of me sometimes:)) But then I just sit myself down, be rational and calm down. Be careful with cats also, the bacteria they carry in their mouth is "nastier" than dog's. We have an immune system that's doing it's job, and with a little help and care from us, all will be fine 😊
honestly most of these videos gave me anxiety but yours has made me pretty calm about the whole thing... you didn't talk it up you just said how it was.
Thanks bro. Helped chill me out. My saniderm just came off on day 4, and I had a deer in the headlights moment of "oh no, now what." Then saw all kinds of scary stories. Also yeah. The saniderm made my first tattoo aftercare extremely easy. Barely worried about anything until it came off, but I guess its pretty solid now on day 5.
thank you for this I just got my first tattoo and I was so confused about aftercare my tattoo artist gave instructions but I heard so many things you just kind of get lost this is great advice i feel much better
Saniderm (the clear tattoo wrap that sticks to your skin) helps me sleep peacefully without the pain & worrying about blood and ink gettin on my sheets!! Before I’d have problems finding the right way to lay comfortably without laying on my tattoo. But as I’ve gotten more and more tattoos , i use Saniderm (or a generic brand which is cheaper). Its virtually painless when anything touches my tattoo cause that area is really tender after getting it. Plus your tat will heal sooo much better. I recommend 10/10
i am starting to love your videos, your voice is calming and you explain everything so i dont feel like im following random adivce without knowing why. plus your personality seems so friendly
