To mix plaster: combine 1 part cold water with 1.5 parts Number one pottery plaster. Always start with water first, and add plaster to the water. Always use cold water, unless you want to speed up the set time of plaster. Never use Plaster of Paris.
Sift the plaster in slowly as to not create large lumps of plaster. Allow to slake (soak) for 3-20 minutes. If you let it slake longer than 20 minutes, it will begin to set up and you won’t be able to work with it.
After slaking, stir plaster for 3 minutes to fully absorb the water
Pour plaster
