  • Pokemon X and Y introduced inverse battles to the series, where every type interaction is flipped. Resistances and immunities become weaknesses, and weaknesses become resistances. Unfortunately they're only available in gen 6, so today let's explore what inverse battles would look like in more recent games.

    We have Trick Room, Wonder Room and Magic Room, so why can’t we have an Inverse Room as well?

    Wait so if a Pokemon with every type were to exist in this inverse scenario, would its only resistance be rock?

    • @MEPlaysGames
      @MEPlaysGames  7 місяців тому +16

      Yeah and it'd have like a billion weaknesses cuz of all the immunities it would have in a regular battle

  • @rockowlgamer631

    I feel like Immunities should be just flipped instead of being turned into super effective.
    Dragon now is immune to Fairy, etc.

      Maybe immune could be double effective? Like dragon could be 4x against Fairy? Better than flipping an offence into a defence I would be sure.

    While it may seem disappointing at first glance that Inverse Battles are exclusive to Gen 6, after looking at the type chart and realizing how unbalanced it is when inverted, it almost immediately becomes clear and understandable why it hasn't left Gen 6.

    Steel automatically becoming the worst type after locking everyone up for 8 generations is hilarious

    Gamefreak could always bring it back as a room type move like wonder, trick,or magic.

      Or even an Ability that inverts type effectiveness upon entry, this can be a really cool gimmick Pokémon.

    While Steel is dominant in regular battles, they get an overkill beating in Inverse battles.

    If fire/steel is the worst type combination in inverse battles, then does that mean that fire/steel is the best type in regular battles?

    • @MEPlaysGames
      @MEPlaysGames  7 місяців тому

      No, because 4x weaknesses are more detrimental than 4x resistances are beneficial

    • @mesplin3
      @mesplin3 7 місяців тому +1

      @@MEPlaysGames When is the detriment of a 4x weakness balanced by the benefit of 4x resistances? Every 4x weakness needs two 4x resistances to be a balanced type?

      It is actually considered the best Type mathematically, with Fairy/Steel being close behind it. Just search Best Type Combination on UA-cam.

      I think I’ve seen the video you’re talking about, and I don’t think a purely mathematical methodology is the best way to go about it. Like I said in my previous comment, double resistances aren’t as helpful as double weaknesses are debilitating, but they both count the same according to the methodology in the video. Plus as he points out, there are some factors he just doesn’t take into account, like how strong the Pokemon with each type are and what moves each type has access to. That kind of method is fine if you’re looking for the best type combination in a vacuum, but the answer is going to be different in practice.
      Fire/steel might be the best in theory, but depending on how you crunch the numbers you could wind up with a different answer. Fairy/steel also tends to be better in practice, because Zacian for example is 2x weak to ground instead of 4x like Heatran. Fire/steel is also weak to fighting and water, which are both good offensive types. Meanwhile fairy/steel’s only other weakness is fire. The best type combination doesn’t have an objective answer. You can use numbers to get a rough idea of which type combinations are good, but that won’t tell you the whole story.

      @@MEPlaysGames I don't know what video you are talking about. I created my own model independently.
      I weigh offense and defense equally because I had no reason to pick a specific weight.
      I don't know what best pokemon type would mean in practice. Pokemon has multiple aspects to it and typing is only one part of the game. So maybe there is no objective answer, but if there isn't an objective answer, then how could one claim that fairy/steel is better in practice?
