Life Hacks as a genre has seen a huge evolution in the past several years, with channels like 5-MinuteCrafts, So Yummy or Troom Troom, prompting many critics and even more parody videos and people roasting the objectively terrible videos these channels have been putting out. Despite all backlash, though, channels like 5-Minute Crafts continue to skyrocket, TheSoul Publishing (the company running the channel) becoming just this October, the number one media company in the world, topping Disney, Viacom and WarnerMedia. With over 70M subscribers and 19B views, 5MinuteCrafts proves the unfortunate truth, that the algorithm doesn't reward quality, but quantity. And when it's quantity over quality, when content farms get more spotlight than actual content creators, the creative market suffers. Today we talk about this phenomenon, and more.

It's frustrating how true this is
So true... I used a song from one of my art videos onto one of my gaming videos and I got a copyright claim. Now, I don't care about copyright claims on my channels, because I don't really have an interest in making money or getting big. Just making videos is what's fun to me, it's a hobby I enjoy, but what was irritating was how I didn't get a copyright claim on my art video, but I did get it on my gaming video when I used very same song...
There has been times where I've used music or songs that are altered, pitched, distorted, or say "royalty free non-copyright free to use", so I use them and yet I still get a copyright claim.
But a bigger channel can use altered or pitched music and make loads of money off that video.

Oh ya, I heard about that popcorn incident. I think I saw that the follow up was something along the lines of paying for medical fees, apologizing and putting disclaimers on the videos now?????
You brought up a lot of good points in this vid. Thanks for sharing.
I feel like 5-minute crafts are mostly to blame. I had been watching their videos years before, eventually forgot about them, and recently watched another one. I never tried them since I usually didn't have the required items or the craft didn't interest me, but I wasn't aware that there were such dangerous supposed life hacks on that channel. In my opinion, I believe that the fault lies primarily with the channel, since I think children are a big part of the viewers. I myself was very young at the time that I was interested in this channel, and even though I considered myself a pretty mature kid, I'm sure I would have trusted the video without second thoughts and possibly ended up injured as a result.
Had this channel been made for and featured a lot of sarcasm, then that's a different story, but the videos are explicitly made to be tried by viewers, hence life hacks.
Its definetely the creators, "lets make dangerous content cause we are greedy"
Or the platform: Let's not rush to censor this material because this channel has a good history, and attractive to the clientele market in ads revenue.
I'd vote both are the majority blame holders. Some does fall to parents for not consistantly checking what their kids consume, but children can also go out of there way to watch things their no supposed to, if they try.
But the content creators aren't checking their content to be sure it's got proper disclaimers, and that safety is being encouraged, especially with the more risky "hacks". And UA-cam, with their automated system, aren't always paying enough attention to channels that make such content, and making sure their putting disclaimers in. Or not spreading harmful content in the first place, ESPECIALLY if their going to deem these channels as appropriate for children, meaning they areore accessable for children consumption.
They've punished other creators for much less, and these incidences have hit the news. There should be no excuse for them to not have their eye on them, and for not dishing out consequences when necessary.
Not only the platform well yes and no they have part of the fault but not all
@• maqiic.lant3rrn • yes all of them are the ones to blame

So many "life hacks" are closer to the old "Troll Science" comics from way back when. They're incredibly specific, there's no way you'd actually be able to do them and can often times be dangerous
Honestly, everyone is at fault here. However I feel like UA-cam is at fault the most. They are breaking there own terms of service for a company, not to mention how they are pushing this type of content forward.
Personally i think its at second fault and the creator is the one at most fault. The guy (people) are causing SEVERAL severe cases to the hospital and even DEATHS JUST SO THAT HE CAN BE RICH. And yes, I'm aware that people shoukdnt be doing it, but when a child sees a guy rly popular explaining something and acting like its completely safe, what do u expect?

5:44 it does say do not eat those strawberries in the desc
Life hacks back then: you probably didn't know this thing about something
Life hacks now: THINGS YOU COULD DO WITH A NUCLEAR REACTOR
As someone who's taken multiple child psychology classes, it is repeated over and over children will replicate what they see! It's 100% a creators own ignorance to think children will not try to replicate their content.
the one with the kid dying to it, it was not their fault. they actually had multiple disclaimers in the video saying not to do it, and they mentioned how dangerous it was.
@@scout1710 what parent doesn't teach there kids not to put metal in the microwave they clearly didn't it was going to happen eventually even if they didn't do i life hack
@@skelet8337 yeah, child neglect
I'm not sure they even think about that. They might, but they obviously don't care if they do. First and foremost comes the money. -_-
@@scout1710 No its not"child neglect"what fucking parent would even THINK about their child watching videos about putting metal in the microwave along with popcorn?Besides, parents have better things to do,like ACTUALLY GOING TO WORK,PAYING THE BILLS,PROVIDING FOOD,WATER,SHELTER AND OTHER THINGS FOR THEIR FAMILY,BUT APPARENTLY EVERYONE SEEMS TO FORGET ABOUT THE FACT THAT PARENTS SIMPLY DON'T HAVE THE TIME TO MONITOR THEIR CHILDREN 24/7,NOR DO THEY WANNA INVADE THEIR PRIVACY(at least some don't),so stfu already. Its not like if I had a kid I'd watch what they're doing 24/7.I've got my own things to do.BETTER AND MORE IMPORTANT THINGS TO DO,like ACTUALLY PROVIDING FOR MYSELF AND MY FAMILY.People seem to forget about that part as soon as there's a tragedy that happens.
5 minute crafts: You will die after trying their hacks if you don't go to the hospital in 5 minutes.

Thank you for the rige andrei
5:40 for the record, they do say "...and do not eat these strawberries!" at the end of the second paragraph
oh, they probably added that later, after they cut the strawberries.
Can we just take a moment to appreciate how good Andrei's animation is. He keeps me visually interested throughout the whole video and that's tricky to do with animation. Props to u man

“Mmmmm bleached strawberries” that part got me

Damn. That’s so sad, like just imagine dying to a life hack
"Life" hack
Welp, there's life glitches now
It makes a little more sense. Think about it:
*You use the hack
*They hack your life
*After they finish they throw the kill switch.

Life hack to die
Bleach? Fire? Micorwaved eggs?
They really don't think about how many kids died because of their stupidity?
When I was young I tried to make eggs in a microwave and it exploded on my face I almost died :)
I microwaved eggs before. Your only supposed to do it for 30 secs/1 min if cracked. I havent(and dont wanna) tried microwaving it in the shell. Could someome tell me what its like?
Money speaks louder than the person's conscience or their voice of reason.
@@mostafanajafzadeh ok, didn't need to know but now I know. Thank you
Well, fools inspire fools. So if they teach how to be stupid, they teach stupid people. Not to become stupid because they already are.
Basically no one takes responsibility for anything and the blame game is played constantly.
