Among Us has recently gone from little known indie game - to worldwide phenomenon in just a few months. From 50 concurrent players to 3 million. While we're all enjoying the entertainment side of the game, I wanted to also take a look at the lessons we can draw from the journey of the developers - InnerSloth, a small team of just three people who, not too long ago, were barely getting by trying to keep the game alive. It's a fascinating case study that I think is worth taking a look at.

The thing about all those games is that they will quickly die out once everything gets back to normal. Animal Crossing was big for 3 months then everyone got burnt out of it either because of time travelling or because they completed the game because they had nothing else to do in March. Fall guys is only available on 3 platforms (PC, PS4 and PS5) and that game got big because it went free on PS Plus and you can now only play it but paying £20 and Among US got big because it’s free on Mobile which has a big audience for younger people and streamers influenced it.

i played the game back in 2018, i found it on the app store and had a great time playing it, there had only been skeld and 2 hats with not too much players, im glad the game is doing pretty great now, it really deservred it, i came back to it in 2019 (7 months later) and they had added alot of stuff and were still working on it, worked out well for them in the end
This game single handedly finessed the Fall Guys player base
And everyone still forgets that among us originally kicked of because of Henry Stickmin: Completeing the mission

Also, there are few hints about Among Us in the Henry Stickmin game, so I wouldn't say you can't piece it together if you played both of the games.
The popularity of it is insane. I think people just found it one day when they were bored and were like “cool!” It grew because it’s unique and fresh.

The funny thing is, I've legit found Among Us in my suggested section for 2 months back in 2018. It became my favorite past time over the summer when there was nothing else to do. Then suddenly, out of nowhere, Among Us has become one of the most popular games I've seen in awhile.

@@HarvestHollows yeah, I started playing in 2018 and to be honest I stopped playing in 2019 because there were so many toxic dumbos and server disconnections. I'm pretty sure that Innersloth said they were planning on abandoning the game at the beginning of 2020 because it never hit it off.

When I first played Among us with friends, I really liked the aesthetic, and thought it reminded me of a flash game, so it really surprised me but I was pretty glad to know why I thought it reminded me of a flash game when I learned this game was made by the same people who made the Henry stickman games I loved as a kid.

They need new game modes.
1. Impostor Enmity - impostors don't know who the other impostors are and can kill each. Confirm eject is automatically turned off.
2. Hide and seek - sets the lowest visibility for the impostors. Disables body reports and emergency. Players win by lasting X minutes.
3. Enforcer mode. One of the players is the "police" that if the impostor tries to kill, a shield activates but the police gets lowest visibility and speed lowered for x minutes to which the shield is disabled allowing the impostor to kill him.
