I use ashwaganda more for the cortisol effect. Sex wise, not noticeable unless you take it regularly for a certain amount of time. If you’re looking more for a noticeable boost in sex drive, use tongat ali, boost your zinc intake, tribulus is pretty good too. Other factors that definitely affect my drive is sleep, food and exercise. Correct those things first for best results.

I think ashawanda is highly overhyped for it's cortisol effects, or just plain didn't work for me like at all, something that did calm everything down and actually felt it was something I tried out of nowhere was lemon balm

You are wonderful Doc and maybe a psychic!!! I purchased 2100 mg ashwagandha over a month ago and haven't taken a single pill. I've purchased this to boost my testosterone levels and to relax dummy resting time. I've noticed that as I am aging (53) it harder and harder for me to workout and see positive results. I also work 12 - 14 hours per day 5 to 7 days a week. I'm a little nervous about trying this without consulting my Doctor, however I had lab work done where my testosterone levels are slightly lower than normal for my age group. I will be having my physical exam here real soon and I'll wait for her to say yeah or nay. This is a supplement unknown to and I don't want to be want to be foaming at the mouth and flopping on the ground if I don't need this. If my Doc says it's okay then I'll will give it a go and hope that my workouts and sleeping patterns improve. That’s a perfect description for the fact that ashwagandha takes me from being an agitated, impatient driver that verbalizes my annoyances with others to an extremely relaxed, calm driver that doesn’t really care when or how I get to my destination. I’ve never researched the side effects if there are any. It could be perfectly safe everyday. I just sprinkle half of a 300mg capsule in my blended coffghee once in awhile. I wouldn’t do anything everyday. Especially supplementation.
Of course, people wouldn’t need to supplement if they weren’t eating anti-nutrients from plants that steal and block the absorption of key nutrients for healthy cellular function, energy production and brain function.
It also doesn’t help that modern people are now eating sugar and carbs daily that cause their gut bugs to release drugs which creates addictions and withdrawal symptoms leading to various “mood swings” and temperaments. Ashwaghanda and other supplements to the rescue I guess.

Something she mentioned about they're not being enough studies on how the human body does with extended periods of low-level cortisol. Cortisol is a stress hormone. You need it to motivate you to get things that you need for survivability. It wakes you up in the morning, it drives you harder to find food when scarce, it drives you to protect your spouse and progeny and dangerous situation. However, it breaks down into oxidants in the bloodstream wish that carried through your body and may cause illness and premature aging and high quantities so I would say that you wouldn't need to eliminate cortisol but just to mitigate excessive amounts of it. If ashwagandha reduces your stress to healthy levels, it's better likely than not that having lower levels of cortisol can have long-term health benefits. The only way to know for sure is to try. Obviously, it should go without saying, stop taking it if you are experiencing negative effects, such as the supposed sedation in those mice she mentioned that were given high amounts.

I've heard that Ashwagandha is a glutamine inhibitor, which is useful in cases of cancer, where the tumour is dependent on glutamine as its fuel source. The other fuel source is glucose so it's worth knowing about these two fuel sources. For the record, green tea is also a glutamine inhibitor and Dr Thomas Seyfried has discovered that glutamine and glucose are the only two known cancer fuel sources.

There are three very different types of Ashwagandha namely KSM66, Shoden, Sensoril.
Although your review of Ashwagandha is interesting, it doesn't specify which version of Ashwagandha is taken for the different trials and I believe its important to state this as some have more sedative effects whilst other versions have opposing effects.
Please kindly specify the versions taken in the trials.
