I like that you do this and weigh out rather or not it's worth it and if you had a shredder that you could drop in a box of these and sort it out after it might would speed it all up and make the difference

Always easier with glasses and a heavy rubber mallet and dust pan and broom...2 Hammer strikes and it's all loose. Best of luck and thanks for the video.
I am a hobby scraper and melt everything I have. So I am not concerned about the time it takes extracting bits of metal. I usually do it while watching videos like this. Since I am not really doing anything I like to keep my hands busy. During the last ice storm I had I hand stripped about 10 pounds of thermostat wire just to have something to do Since my power was out. Definitely not something I would recommend if doing it for money but it made some beautiful copper bars.
That’s awesome! I bet they look great. Hobby scrapping is so much fun and like you said, keeps the hands busy. I do a lot of micro scrapping in the evenings while I’m watching UA-cam videos. Thank you for your comment.
Surprising brass haul from a pile of outlets that would have just been tossed. Hopefully at some point, during manufacture, they'll start coding all of this stuff for recycling. Or find a way to rapidly screen and separate during recycling
They have big shredders that will separate all of the materials, we just as consumers need to get stuff into the recycling chain and not into landfills. Thank you for watching, again!

Thanks for this, I will definitely be keeping and processing all the wall outlets from the old house when I crack into it. Unfortunately my yard doesnt pay for steel at all so I usually just throw it away. I think 15AUD per hour actually sounds pretty good, my friends who work at McDonalds get minimum wage for under 17s which is $5.80/h

Closed my business, I was cleaning o out evictions/ hoarders real-estate and apartments, pressure washing, if costs for our of control my customers would call me, or if they had a problem they couldn't solve.... Demo, fix things. Break things
I stopped scrapping sockets because takes too long & some screws are steel & tight. Maybe there's a better way to crush them in bulk, a milling machine?
I'm picking up 72 desktops and about 80 laptops today and in a medium size box I spy about 30 outlets with a lil bit of wire sticking out. One question later I'm taking them with me and 12 UPS's. Just ask, it can't hurt.
Yes not a lot of money, but you can build it up for a nice paycheck later when you have a lot more weight. Stay safe and happy scrapping. Until the next video.
That's about 5 cents per outlet, which is more than what it would be worth just tossing it as shred or tossing it in the garbage and getting nothing for it
They would definitely not sell, they sell new for like $1 a piece. Gfci or like commercial receptacles may be a different story but just normal ones no way

Take 3-4 TYPES of sorted out aluminum alloys,,,, (5 gal buckets full will do) say cast, pot, sheet & cans, & 3-4 types, (alloys) of coppers, fine winding wires to 1/8" dia wires, to copper sheeting, plates & bolts. Then to red & yellow brasses,, sort them out per price. There's 5 or 6 types of steel,,, cast to SS, to grade #8+ machine grade hardness, under 1/4 thick tins, to magnetic & non. NOW, take all of those sorted out containers to 3 or 4 recycle scrap yards,, & SHOW US HOW THOSE SCRAP YARDS DIFFER IN PAY-OUT PRICES PER ALLOY! Per bucket full,,,, OR price per ton. (that's how they love to Rip off the consumer) That video, will get you a MILLION SUBSCRIBERS!! ;>)

One of them I took apart looked fine but if you look closely in the video with the brass in the bucket, you’ll see one that looks corroded but it was actually heat stroked (I think that’s what it’s called) there was another one that had black singe marks. I just would ever feel safe selling them. Now if they were brand new, I’d sell those. 2: I love your idea about the scrap yard. There are only two yards “near” me, both are over 3 hours roundtrip, other are way further away. The two yards I go to don’t want people filming anything. Thank you for your great suggestions
