HOW I MIRROR FINISH A BAR
I start with an 80 grit flap disc on my angle grinder then I use my drill with 50 mm round sanding discs . I start with 150 grit then go through the following Grits 240-400-800 Then once I get to the following Grits I use a small squirt of WD-40 1200-1500-2000-2500-3000. The WD40 helps to lubricate the discs and stops the sanding disk binding up with the metal powder . Then after that I use my buffer wheel on my bench grinder to get a perfect mirrored finish on it.

Well here it is Guys, the updated amount for the stack in 2024 which was a bit more than I expected. Now I go off current market value of the metals not scrap value. These are obviously worth more to me than current market value, but I just can't help myself and love stacking it up. & I'm very glad the floor is reinforced and has extra thick concrete.

@ davidvodka6932 I did have a very short basic video when I made my first home-made furnace, but I can’t remember exactly which one It was, but I can guarantee there are 1 million better do it yourself furnace builds out there on UA-cam. If you ever do decide to purchase a small or large furnace definitely hit me up on my email and I’ll organise a discount link. Im late in the day for watching, had things to do, had my coffee and it threw my whole day off not being able to sit on the porch cold one in the US today 28F ( -2C ) watching my favorite melter and drinking coffee.

TIP: I use 1 needle nose and regular pair of pliers to seperate the wire jacket if the striper doesn't cut through all the way the 1st time otherwise you'll have to keep adjusting the tensioner again and again. You can even start with the pliers and than step on the rubber part and pull up that usually works too rather than wearing out the blades by running the wire through 2-4x.

Yes you are completely right. It definitely does need a lot more brass. I’ve got about 60 kg of bullet casings left. I might have to start getting them sorted👊🏻😁

I have to smile every time you say it’s hot as hell. Our hot as hell this summer was between 110° and 118° and it was a long, long summer. Now at the end of our winter, 75° today, I’m not looking forward to another summer that hot.

I don't know what it is, but this summer's open workshop, with the atmosphere of absolute content and work that is also not a stressful necessity but a leisure, made me feel like I could breath this hot summer's air, this freedom, it made me feel at peace.

I know the heat wave in Australia has been a challenge, but frankly I'm jealous. I walked out of my house in Wisconsin this morning to 11 degrees F in the pre-dawn.
Yes we’ve got another few days just hitting us again. It’s just clicked over 40.5°C and they reckon it’ll hit 43 in the next few hours. Unfortunately theres a fire ban so I can’t start the furnace so I’ll just have to sit down and have a beer 🤷🏻♂️,

I've noticed over the last few weeks that the temperature has been very warm. Here in upstate New York the winter temperatures this year aren't as low as they could be. I'd say on average we are 10°F warmer than a few years ago. But the weather is cyclical and many phenomenal things effect the weather.

Been watching your uploads for quite a few years now it’s always been a goal of mine to have a smelting hobby, I was pretty close too after a couple of unfortunate things happened in my life I am still unable to realise my smelting hobby dream whether it be location on where I am living or just simply not having the money to start up, so your uploads scratch the itch I am unable to do so myself (love the new total by the way “no spoilers”) thank. I just stripped my first cables and it was bloody aluminum cables from an old heater... but then I found a couple of dead extension cords. My hands hurt because I don't have a cable stripper yet. I can't wait to get my furnace and start melting!

The coins going into the treasure chest is always very satisfying. Think your door needs a huge padlock with a skeleton key. Maybe even a wood bar barricade thingy too.

I've always had a fascination hot metal. I've always wanted my own forge and when I get my own piece of property. I plan on doing what you're doing , but it's a little hard to do when you're renting
