something about a capri sun being sent to the front lines always makes me laugh
It is kind of funny, but they do make for good drinks in this environment. Shelf stable for 1 year, durable packaging, don't require refrigeration, and have more nutrition than water alone. The downside is that you can't rehydrate meals with them nor can you use them to clean wounds or wash your eyes.
They need to be camo’d though, damn thing is like a signal mirror in the desert sun. No way an actual sniper team is going to make that mistake, but this still gives a fairly accurate impression of what they had to endure to not get killed.
@@levistoner Yeah for sure. A nice brown pouch like an MRE pouch would be a little more grown-up and “tactical”. They’re nice when you want something besides water, but you don’t want to put something in your Camelbak that you have to clean out later that gets nasty. Plus you don’t want to wash your eyes or a cut with artificially sweetened drink mix.

When I was training in the Korean military 10 years ago, I did marching training. It was really hot and humid. I've been filling the bucket with water, and I really only drink a little water, or just so I don't drink it later. After the third day and a half, one by one, my classmates ran out of water, and I poured water without reservation, just like the scene of Caprisun juice, so I didn't even drink it. I just felt that I was able to endure it without drinking it, and that I was able to raise my satisfaction by marching while watering my peers who felt exhausted. Nevertheless, it is still unforgettable to see the comrades-in-arms who were unable to fight together until the end due to their injuries, sobbing after seeing us first at the last terminal.
Wishing Renner a full recovery soon.
You ever notice how Hollywood shows the shooter having a big eye when you're looking into the front of a scope. As usual Hollywood has it ass backwards.
I love how the enemy sniper could hit the Brit in the spot Falcon's in but not hit Falcon after that.
The spotter would have been beat to pieces by the blast owing off that muzzle brake.

Mhm... I don't know about that. But here in Finland. In the conscript army we teach every soldier to use a normal rifle, submachinegun, machinegun and sniper rifle all together. Very few of us are "snipers" but if you hand that weapon to basically any soldier, they know how to operate it to a certain level. And all of them can shoot a human-sized target to 500 meters. Most of them up to 800 meters to 1km away. Also if a machinegun-nest is taken down. Me or my buddies from the Air Force can take that gun and operate it effectively, cuz they teach us all the weapons. The basics of them. I can't fly a jet or drive a tank, everything else I can do in the military :D

the 50 cal sniper they are using is actually primarily used to destroy or disable equipment, and EOD often do use it.
It’s amazing how they did the impossible. The first shot the Barrett was able to fire without the magazine in but in the second it shot with the magazine

I recall hearing from a man who’d fought in ww2 (pacific theater) and Korea about how in the latter conflict he used a 50 cal M2 machine gun for “sniping.”
Seems these guns can be tricked into firing one shot at a time, if you know how.
He spoke of firing the gun and then picking up binoculars to see the impact of the bullet.
I recall hearing him in the mid-eighties.

@thelikebutton3176 you can use sling shot for granate, instead of bow and explosive arrow. It is easier to make
EOD are trained in the use of the M107 for standoff bomb destruction. I'm not saying that makes them snipers, but they would have familiarity in weapon function and basics in bullet trajectory.
What these Bollywood trying to show is US snipers have more knowledge and sense than others but still they can’t occupy Afghanistan hhahahahahah
So what happened to the 2nd Tango in the building window? there were two when the view was from the inside of the window, they shot one, which left one? Where did he go?
Probably killed him later off screen… this scene does play out for quite a while, just them two sitting and waiting for what’s next.
@@chakenbacon yes I have seen this film end to end on numerous occasions, without ever seeing that 2nd Tango taken out.
Maybe that's why they still kept scoping out the building. Or logically the 2nd guy could have chickened out & laid low knowing had very less chance of winning the engagement with out a high powered scope rifle.

Are there any war movies where the americans don't potray themselfes as the top elite hero soldiers? I mean they lost Vietnam against an enemy who had huge technological, economical and political disadvantages and the war in Afghanistan never weakened the Taliban. They are now stronger than ever. Imagine what other foreign fighters would be capable of when they had the western technology and the same huge budget for the military.
Portraying soldiers as capable isn't the same as portraying them as "elite hero soldiers", have some nuance. These people are trained and conditioned to fight, just because the US gave up on Vietnam doesn't mean American soldiers were bumbling idiots who couldn't shoot a gun lmao. Plus both wars you mentioned essentially involved irregulars, it's next to impossible to defeat those by conventional means.

Bad film for the most part. The set designer did a good job for the most part. Who ever was the military advisor for this film obviously never deployed, or apparently never left a cubicle.
