When I first saw this scene, I thought to myself 'That dude in head towel sure looks a lot like Ralph Fiennes.' He must have spent a week in the desert for this "cameo."
I was literally just about to make this comment. Not sure if his name but the British guy that was spotting for him is also a pretty good actor himself. I always forget Guy Pearce is in this too.

@@chrishogan8539 yeah they are SF dudes as well, commo, weapons, medic. Just I spent a bunch of time in Iraq in 04 05 and hurt locker was so unrealistic it might as well been the expendables

@@YankeeVatnik1917 thank you for your service brother. Seems like the vast majority of war movies cannot get it right. As long as it fills the studios pockets they don’t care sadly. We need more platoons, jarheads, etc.
@@YankeeVatnik1917 Very unrealistic. And yet... very compelling. Watching it just as a character study of the main character played by Renner, it's pretty awesome.
I like how nobody renders Medical Aid to anyone 50 is down don't go check on him or anything
Not in the military, but as far as I've read, that's exactly what the sniper is expecting. Even is he *was* shooting to kill and not to wound, any brave (and foolish) friend of an already downed soldier would become the next target the moment they ran out of cover, since to reach both of the downed ones in that particular scenario would require them to run into the open.
I'm pretty sure military doctrine states that unless the one hit falls into cover by chance, one shouldn't move to get them until the sniper is dealt with, because you become his next meal otherwise. Next thing you know, there are two or more wounded/dead in the open, the first target and those who tried to play hero and help him.
I mean, there's a lot of inaccuracies in this movie. But that isn't one of them.
The general rule or thumb is - "stop the killing, then stop the dying". Only once you know the area is secured enough, then should medical aid be rendered. Otherwise you're just going to have far more casualties.
Source: Personal experience. 12 year army vet. Not US though.

I feel like this is the scene in a movie that people watch and think they learned something.
This whole scene is a bit weird and stupid… the Iraqi sniper managed to kill three at first and then he cannot finish Renner and Mackie 😅

Calibre doesn't equal accuracy. Just because pound for pound the fifty cal will be more likely to kill you doesn't mean anything if you miss

My favorite part is when the high speed guys were insta killed when the magic bullets went through their plates because body armor doesn't stop bullets when you don't have plot armor.
my mostly uneducated guess is that the rifle the bad guy was firing would be some kind of 7.62. many variants of which will pretty much ignore almost any wearable body armor

@@urlawyer Could have sworn I said “almost any wearable body armour”. The word “almost” in that sentence modifies the word “any”.
Also a quick google shows that it’s quite plausible that a round fired from that rifle could penetrate level four plates. Hard to find anything concrete though, but i’m sure you could figure it out just with how much energy the bullet has in J and whatever the plate is rated to stop

The enemy sniper's tactics bother me. Like, he rotates between windows but you don't have to pop half of your body out of it to shoot - you're just exposing yourself more if you do that. Also, Chris really fucked up here. Like, they could have driven closer or waited until they confirmed the sniper's position, then hammer that building and turn it into dust with the Browning.

@Roniixx so many inaccuracies from a military standpoint...I’m not in the military but you know it’s bad when even I can point things out that are wrong. ie firing from the hip, no combat medic/any medical attention to wounded, terrible cover, ex spec op guys knowing less than common infantry/engineer
