In this beginner hatha yoga for your neck and shoulder pain Dr. Melissa West will lead you through a simple beginner yoga routine of stretches for neck and shoulder pain. This full length 50 minute yoga class includes safe and easy stretches for beginners. So if you are experiencing neck and shoulder pain, whether it is from spending hours hunched over computer screens and keyboards at an office or standing all day performing repetitive tasks, this yoga for stiff neck and shoulders if the perfect beginner yoga routine for you. Moving slowly with step by step instructions and with loads of modifications and options Melissa will share with you her simple yoga for beginners, plus a fun chance to do the chicken dance.
Yoga with Dr. Melissa West offers Real Yoga for Real People every Friday at 9 am PT. When you subscribe and press the bell you will get some full length 60 min yoga classes coming into your UA-cam subscription feed. I just realised I did this for a second time (noticed my 4 yr old comment on the video!) It was almost like doing it anew. It was an extra delight to do this in the open on the terrace with mountains and trees surrounding me and birds flying overhead.

I've been doing some weight lifting at the gym so i have tension and stiffness in my upper body. Now after this class my back, neck and shoulders feel so much better and relaxed. Thank you dear Melissa :))

This is wonderful. With so many people with shoulder and neck problems this simple routine can reduce pain and increased flexibility. Will do it on my breaks at work and break it down into smaller segments duri g the day. Computer desk work is a killer.

My neck and shoulder are feeling so much relaxed now! It is a great beginner class which allows to take a break and breath through the tensions on my body and of course especially on my upper body. The supported fish pose felt absolutely delicious and I was laughing at loud hearing the music (la danse des canard in french : duck song)!

Hi Melissa! I have a frozen left shoulder which also affects my upper left arm. Because of that, there is a pose in this video that is too challenging for me. It is at the beginning when you lie down, hold your elbows up while gently rolling from side to side. My left shoulder blade just hurts so much. Any suggestions for modifications would be greatly appreciated!

My neck and shoulders have been improving very slowly. I have a question: I do your program which is 49 minutes long twice a day, once in the morning and once in the evening. Do you recommend more or less? Is twice a day safe?
great question. Only you will know for sure...also it might be wise to check with your doctor too :) but I don't see why not :) eventually you'll want some variety and I have lots of other beginner classes :)
One side of my neck feels like a board. Your videos do help, but I am unable to go to my chiropractor just yet. It is the left side that feels so hard and knotty. Any other yoga movements to recommend?

I have suffered bouts of sciatica. What poses must I avoid? I have been told by my PT that I must not bend forward.
