According to the press wire after this bout, the New York State Boxing Commission tried to stop this bout from taking place the day of the fight only after learning that Pryor might be having problems with his left eye. But the promoter complained that the tickets for the fight card in Rochester had already been sold with the guarantee that ex-champ Pryor would appear in the main event, and if not, he stood to lose a great deal of money.
The fight was allowed to be held. Pryor dominated the bout with combinations and backed up the journeyman Morales for three rounds before knocking him out in a credible performance. This was the first and only time Pryor was allowed to fight in New York State.
