  • A friend purchased this 1985 Oldsmobile Cutlass 442 in order to use the interior for his Hurst Olds Cutlass and to part out the rest. Lets see if we can get this thing back on the road after 22 years of sitting abandoned in a field because of a "blown up" engine! If you need parts off this car hit me up with an email and I'll see if Swappy still has those parts! mortskerepair@gmail.com

Then that air compressing turd woke up from its dream! The Tow-rolla is the champ!!! I noticed you used a $40K piece of equipment to roll it in your shop! That ford probably couldn't tow it even after it aired up the tires!

About halfway through the video, it hit me that it's gonna be a parts car. Kinda sad, seems like she's got some life left in her. That is by far the best-sounding blown-up engine I've heard.

I love Gbodies. I had 2 in my teens, an '85 Regal and an '85 Grand Prix. They were nothing special as far as hp is concerned. The Buick had the 4.1 V6 with the 4 barrel carb (lol) and the Grand Prix had the 305 Chevy. I think my love for them is more due to the memories I have from back then. I'd 100% build one today if I wasn't broke.

These barn finds are great, also enjoy vicariously watching without skinned knuckles and the grime. My favorite cutaways are Greta and Ricky Bobby. Powered by Hamms, not a sponsor. Those 80s Delco radios were a huge improvement back in the day. Ratt music to go along with the rat droppings. Hey easy, those were a new set of tires, 22 years ago.

My buddy had one of these, he put lightning rods in it out of a Hurst/Olds and he put a Whipplecharger on that 307. That thing would do a double patch from 1-2 and squeal them at 2-3 at 70. I think it did low 12's. It torqued the body so bad it would open the trunk if you hammered it. Great car

I'm 23 years old and I've had 5 gbodies (lost one in the LNU fire last year here in California) but I've got a 78 El Camino (TECHNICALLY an A-body for that year), an 82 El Camino, an 85 El Camino (lost my other 85 El Camino in the fire) and an 85 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme Brougham. I've been working to get the abandoned 85 Cutlass Supreme Brougham for nearly 10 years and I finally got it. One owner, 42K original miles, has all of the original manuals, and the car is MINT inside and out. Sadly it has the most severe rod knock I've ever heard but for the $1,000 gamble it was, I'm so happy with it. It's going to be a project of mine in the near future

I grew up in the 80s. That car was a popular car for teens. I had a 86 Pontiac Grand Prix. That cars engine doesn't sound like its blown up. It may need a tuneup, brakes etc.. but sounds/runs pretty decent still. A good tune up/body work would bring this "Christein" back to life. 😉

Not a 307 fan, Rev to the moon but no h.p. bad luck with one's I've ran. Had a 406 built for my Streetstock, monster motor, frame twister, locker snapper. Those 442s are great rides. My buddy has a 1968. It's a beast, all original 400 4bbl, 2dr. Gold color. Still cruise main now and then for the hell of it.

Nice. I’ve owned 3 of those cars so far. None were 442s though. All were great cars even with the gutless 305. I’d love to find another one again. Someone in town has a very nice original 82 442 that comes out a few days every summer. If I remember right he said he bought it brand new.

Mr Mortske, on any given episode, I have been entertained watching you suffer, just like me, while taking apart, undoing, or otherwise fixing old junk. the fact that you suffer or experience discomfort has not essentially been the entertaining factor, rather, I took solace in the fact that I was not the only poor bastard that dropped wrenches, got fluids all over the place and otherwise had an old car make a complete fool of me. More solace taken in the fact that I was not the only one who could look past the rust, darts, gooed up seats, filth, sweet sickening stenches, acorns, wiring about to explode, foolish trifling repairs etc This car was way too easy to bring to life. I wish you well in your endeavors, thanks for all the videos.

Mad respect for the Old 442's My dad used to race locally 1960's- 1980's. He was a mopar guy and the 442's always give him the biggest challenges in later years. Can't save them all though. People gotta remember this one will still live on parts wise helping to make a more solid car better and that beats the crusher. 👍 Thanks for the video!

The bottom side may be pretty rusty but this car is a rare beast. She deserves to be put back on the road. I hate when guys buy a car for parts and reason out in their mind it's not worth fixing. It's rarity is reason enough to save it.
I've always liked those G bodies. I was looked down upon by some of the older generation for expressing a real interest in a nice maroon Olds Cutlass of this style body back in the late 1980's. I'd like to set that record straight with them now.
And I'm guessing the overdrive transmission counts for the 442. Didn't 442 used to mean 4 barrel carb, 4 speed tranny and dual exhaust? 2 outa 3 ain't bad.😁
