- A friend purchased this 1985 Oldsmobile Cutlass 442 in order to use the interior for his Hurst Olds Cutlass and to part out the rest. Lets see if we can get this thing back on the road after 22 years of sitting abandoned in a field because of a "blown up" engine! If you need parts off this car hit me up with an email and I'll see if Swappy still has those parts! mortskerepair@gmail.com

Then that air compressing turd woke up from its dream! The Tow-rolla is the champ!!! I noticed you used a $40K piece of equipment to roll it in your shop! That ford probably couldn't tow it even after it aired up the tires!
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
😲🤣😂
Try 55k puddin…
🤣🤣🤣🤣
Lmao 🤣🤣🤣🤣
About halfway through the video, it hit me that it's gonna be a parts car. Kinda sad, seems like she's got some life left in her. That is by far the best-sounding blown-up engine I've heard.
Great video buddy! The G Body lives on. It’s too good to part out. Preserve it!! Big Al.
After watching the video, I realized this is not a parts car!
This 442 needs to be put on the open road again!!!
yep fix that lil bit of rust and clean her up , new brakes and she's good to go.
That fact it's a t-top makes it hurt even more. Lol
Complete restoration and she'll be good as new!
That car even as junk ..... Has an actual retail price of 4500$ just in the options..... T top is heavenly sought by many ...... This car can still rock.... Any way shape or form
Love it. I just bought a 79 Hurst Olds Cutlass with an Oldsmobile 350. And, by strange coincidence, I fall into the "in my mid 40's and love G bodies because they were cool cars to own back in the day" crowd....
Man that thing is mint by my standards! If I didn't spend all day binging your videos and risking losing my shop, I'd buy it and make it jump coke cans!
A G body, heavy metal and the mullet return!!! Back to the 80's!!! Great video!!thanks!!! And don't let die that 442!!!
As much of a Mortske fan as I am, I am even more of a Duff fan! He is always ready to go... unlike some of the resto-rigs you run across. Big win on this one... a ton of fun! Thanks for taking us along on the ride!
He's the star of the show!
Took a break from dinking around with my car stuff so I could stop and watch you and Duff have fun. Great video as always Mortske. Thanks.
Thanks for watching Bob!
I love this video of the “442” so much!
I would totally buy one if I was a collector.
Would like to see part 2 very much with updates to as the if you will find the original wheels and tires and whatever else. You hit this one out of the park!
Sounds good!
I love Gbodies. I had 2 in my teens, an '85 Regal and an '85 Grand Prix. They were nothing special as far as hp is concerned. The Buick had the 4.1 V6 with the 4 barrel carb (lol) and the Grand Prix had the 305 Chevy. I think my love for them is more due to the memories I have from back then. I'd 100% build one today if I wasn't broke.
Mr. B. Here ! As young man work for Oldsmobile dealer when these cars were new . They were ok , room for improvement . I would take it today anyway !
Awesome!
Man what a great episode! Nice when things go as good as this one did. It would be a shame to parts this one out, lots of life in that blown up engine, she sounds great! Rocking the mullet was perfect for this donut ride!
Dang seems like you might’ve heart Puddin’s feeling with that comment lol. Only real buds talk crap to each other like that. Love you guys, I appreciate you both for taking the time to make our lives a little better for a couple hours a week.
These barn finds are great, also enjoy vicariously watching without skinned knuckles and the grime. My favorite cutaways are Greta and Ricky Bobby. Powered by Hamms, not a sponsor. Those 80s Delco radios were a huge improvement back in the day. Ratt music to go along with the rat droppings. Hey easy, those were a new set of tires, 22 years ago.
I didn't hear any knocking. But that was way to easy for you. No starter problems, no carb problems and it had sorta brakes right of the bat. And I see puddin picking on you. Thank for sharing 👍
Another vid! Yes! If you keep making content at this rate I’ll be entertained forever
So cool you found the original Oldsmobile msrp love the cutlass 442 and the Hurst olds
My buddy had one of these, he put lightning rods in it out of a Hurst/Olds and he put a Whipplecharger on that 307. That thing would do a double patch from 1-2 and squeal them at 2-3 at 70. I think it did low 12's. It torqued the body so bad it would open the trunk if you hammered it. Great car
Sounds like a hot rod!
Wow! Haven’t seen an 85 Olds Cutless in years! Talk about a classic automobile. Nice find!👍🏻
Mighty fine-sounding "blown up" engine!
i remember when those came out they were nice luxury CALM hotrods fun show man
When I saw the moble Mortske rig, I thought you needed to get with Puddin and have him bring the chrome in a can for the wheels.
He huffed the last of it before dancing this week!
@@MortskeRepair ROTFLOL!
Probably needed to!
Puddin fabs Tik Tok!
Now, we gotta get you and Duff dog past 50k subs too!
I am not expecting a show from you too, leave that to Puddin!
@@BobPegram We'll get there. We're just a little slow around here!
Nothing like watching a badass burnout and a cup of coffee too kick of the morning
I'm 23 years old and I've had 5 gbodies (lost one in the LNU fire last year here in California) but I've got a 78 El Camino (TECHNICALLY an A-body for that year), an 82 El Camino, an 85 El Camino (lost my other 85 El Camino in the fire) and an 85 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme Brougham. I've been working to get the abandoned 85 Cutlass Supreme Brougham for nearly 10 years and I finally got it. One owner, 42K original miles, has all of the original manuals, and the car is MINT inside and out. Sadly it has the most severe rod knock I've ever heard but for the $1,000 gamble it was, I'm so happy with it. It's going to be a project of mine in the near future
403's are junk, only better than the 231cuin. buick V6. May have a 307 olds engine, no power but reliable
Glad you love the G Body! I have an '87 Monte SS Aerocoupe with T Tops, had to ditch the 305 for a mild 350.
My brother had an 87 Aerocoupe. NASCAR. But you know that. Cool car
The Monte SS and Grand Prix 2+2 were the last cars that were built specifically to compete in NASCAR.👍
Those cars are ugly! But they do have a cool history!
Change the fluids and have fun! Thanks for sharing Duff and Mortske, kirk from Louisiana! Y’all take care my friends! 👌🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻🤙🏻🤙🏻🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
You bet
Yes, we get pissy if people call it a "Four Forty Two". 😂
It's "4-4-2".
I been WAITING for one of these!!! I always wanted a Hurst-Olds Cutlass. 👍👍👍👍
Extra props for the cool burnout. 😁
This video made my night. Even if you hadn't gotten it running, I wouldn't have cared. I was just happy to see one of these cars. This was pure 80s right here. 👍
Only ever seen 1 Hurst Olds cutlass
I love smiling dogs, that look of happiness warmed my heart.
Love to see it cleaned up!
Thats the best blowed up motor I seen running this month
Better than most of my "good" engines!
Love your channel and always laugh at Greta's "How dare you!" Keep.up the great work, best to you man!....and Duff dog of course 👍
Thanks! Will do!
Greta is great!! I always laugh at her appearances too.
I would like to take greta and force her to watch engines running in a circle steam engines hit and miss flathead V8 and everything
I know for a fact that Thomas Mortske is secretly in love with Greta.
@@HanstheTraffer She's not much to look at but she's got a great personality!
My sister bought one these new. Was very nice. Drove just great. and was really comfortable. I was 26 then. And these sold very well.
It was a lot of fun to drive!
Now that's a damn good burnout👌 even for an old piecer
I have an 88 Olds Supreme myself. These are actually great driving cars.
Fortunately I have been able to keep it out of the weather most of it's time
with me and it still runs great and drives good at 168 thou on the speedo.
Shame this 442 has seen it's better days, but the body styles to these are
cool to me. Awesome to see you drive this one before it's parted out!
Cheers Mortske!!! 🍻 -Al
I'm surprised being a Minnesota car that's as solid as it is I don't know what it looks like underneath but for somebody that was into cars and wanted that particular one it doesn't look like it would be that bad to fix from the rust that you showed
I was wondering about the underside as well.
Your place sure looks different without snow everywhere brother, I bet you’re glad when it’s melts Mortske!
The T-top was the next best thing to a real convertible top.
It allowed you to feel the wind in your hair, going 137 MPH on a flat straight away!
Looked good until they start leaking and rusting out.
I was suprised it ran as good as it did, and it brought its A-game in the donut category ! The Duff Leppard approves and so do I 👍
It's a little depressing knowing this old girl is going to be parted out.
ikr this guy has no respect for classic cars. especially a 442 Cutlass from the 80's
@@wolfhauzer3178 if it's going to be parted Why should he Care
@@robertvance1873 why scrap a car from the 80's that is no longer being made? it makes no sense.
@@wolfhauzer3178 Rust never sleeps and if it's shot underneath Why not donate the good parts to save another one.
You could buy it and fix it up if you like!
That four four deuce is FREAKING AWESOME
I think Duff is a closet Olds fan
Wow! This is one of my favorite Mortske videos! Great car and I really liked the way you pulled it into the shop with the music and the camera on the car! Im not a body guy, but i cant imagine it is beyond saving, very sad... How do I become a battery sponsor?
Hit us up with an email!
I wanted one so bad back in high school. They were around $15k. Might as well been a million when your working part time at $3.35 an hour.
The 307 was pretty much the standard. Had a decent amount of get up and go for what it was but…… the interior and ride was like a Cadillac!!!!
I think you should add that engine to your personal inventory. Start a save the block campaign.
I already got a fleet of those!
@@MortskeRepair so you're in the market for some more Y blocks. Y not?
@@briansutton7764 Haha, not at the moment! We're at capacity!
@@MortskeRepair Keep em Cranking, and I'll keep watching. One of these days I hope you come across an old Pannel Truck.
Will do! I sure hope so! How about a delivery van?!?
I had a 83 Hurst olds miss her ,had to sell her during the recession, hoping to find another one someday ,great video duff seems like he likes the burn outs.
Better than a towrolla?? The challenge has been thrown down Puddin!!!!
I started to comment on the towrolla jab lol! Then I saw this comment. Yeah gotta see how Puddin comes back. Great burn!
I think the only trick his has is airing up tires!
@@PuddinsFabShop one trick pony! Lmao!
The mobile mortske rig does it all!
My first car was a 79 Pontiac Grand Prix with a 301 motor. The motor was a pig, the cam eventually went and the car was a rust bucket. But for some reason I still have fond memories of that heap lol.
Great video and cool to see a Gbody revival even though it is a parts car.
Man it's not a parts car just a little metalworking I think it will be alright
Best part of my Mondays is a good ole Mortske video being uploaded!
First time watching this channel. Like the content new subscriber🤙🤙🤙
Thanks for subbing
Thanks for another Mortske Monday! Good luck🐾
I LAUGHED at those silly cars when they were first made and I could get a Charger
R/T for $1,000. Today, I can appreciate and even dig it a little.
Ahhhhhh. Love the G bodies. Such beautiful cars when they’re done right. Had an 86,84,82,79 the 84 had a 307 took me back and forth to Fort Macmurray, Alberta.
Drive that thing down to puddin . Let him wash it
slow mo shots here we come!
Thanks Mortske. I had an 85 Cutlass non 442. Loved it.
hi mortske ive allways loved the olds cutlass since watching 80s cop shows i would love one keep up the great work all the best
A kid in college had one, after his night of drinking, I got to drive it home. Way cool. Get another!
I’ve jumped, wrecked, blown up and broken my old G-body. A 78 Regal with a 455 and t-type rear which is my first car that I still have. Fun old cars I’ve had several of. BTW, you’re correct about my age group. At least I still don’t have my mullet!
Geez, I’m 66 and I remember having a set of Cragars, 225/60 front tires, 245/70 rear tires or some sh-t like that on a camero SS, but that was in ‘73 so my memory is a little hazy. Had a spring-loaded Hurst four speed. You and Peg like that “how dare you” vid. Poor Greta.
I had T Tops on my 1988 SS and it was so much fun to drive with them off, I never had them on ever unless it was raining. Even in cold 40 degree NY weather in late fall I had them off.
One tire fire!! One wheel peal!! Gotta LOVE it!!
What you lucky bastard that's one of my favorite cars my mom had one one of these growing up as kids I've been riding in that back seat and getting the hell beat out of me all the time but I love that car and my mom that great memories in it have fun with it
That mullet is just waving to the civilians !
Looks like you got the last one that wasn't turned into a dirt racer ! Love it ! Now bring the mullet back !
Thats awesome you got it running!
I grew up in the 80s. That car was a popular car for teens. I had a 86 Pontiac Grand Prix. That cars engine doesn't sound like its blown up. It may need a tuneup, brakes etc.. but sounds/runs pretty decent still. A good tune up/body work would bring this "Christein" back to life. 😉
The golden harvest t shirt really set off the mullet nice lol great video always my favorite part of Monday morning
You know it!
Love a good GH t shirt in the morning. Looks like…victory!
Takes me back to high school. Cruising in a buddy's 78 Regal with a 307, big stereo, and no where to go. 12mpg alllll day and 0-60 allll day
U should get a mallet wig for Duff ! Thanks for sharing 😎👍
i watched a video of a 1966 olds with f85,442,w30 options..drag package,awesome ride
Thank you for putting that AWD Cutlass clip in...that car is amazing!
Heck yeah it is!
Not a 307 fan, Rev to the moon but no h.p. bad luck with one's I've ran. Had a 406 built for my Streetstock, monster motor, frame twister, locker snapper. Those 442s are great rides. My buddy has a 1968. It's a beast, all original 400 4bbl, 2dr. Gold color. Still cruise main now and then for the hell of it.
Duff dumped the Cutlass when he smelled the Cutlets on the neighbours grill, thought they'd be a Mister Mister cassette in the dash!
Thanks Mortske - entertainment and education.... for free!
cheers, Ian.
Nice. I’ve owned 3 of those cars so far. None were 442s though. All were great cars even with the gutless 305. I’d love to find another one again. Someone in town has a very nice original 82 442 that comes out a few days every summer. If I remember right he said he bought it brand new.
3-0-7. Never a 305
@@rodger7029 307 was an Olds engine. Mine all had the Chevy 305
The ferd came in handy. That was a pretty easy project. You and duff were stylin with that ride.
Mr Mortske, on any given episode, I have been entertained watching you suffer, just like me, while taking apart, undoing, or otherwise fixing old junk. the fact that you suffer or experience discomfort has not essentially been the entertaining factor, rather, I took solace in the fact that I was not the only poor bastard that dropped wrenches, got fluids all over the place and otherwise had an old car make a complete fool of me. More solace taken in the fact that I was not the only one who could look past the rust, darts, gooed up seats, filth, sweet sickening stenches, acorns, wiring about to explode, foolish trifling repairs etc This car was way too easy to bring to life. I wish you well in your endeavors, thanks for all the videos.
Much appreciated for the kind words!
Duf Leppard.. lol... Ratt was a good one hit wonder band. Make sure you play Round and Round when you do the customary donuts.
Bahaha brilliant!
Mad respect for the Old 442's My dad used to race locally 1960's- 1980's. He was a mopar guy and the 442's always give him the biggest challenges in later years. Can't save them all though. People gotta remember this one will still live on parts wise helping to make a more solid car better and that beats the crusher. 👍 Thanks for the video!
That's exactly right! Thanks for watching!
You didn't check all the lights but the brake lights worked lol awesome video
Thanks for doing this 85 442 and thank you for pronouncing it correctly… I bought an 88 cutlass g body brand new and really liked it …no t tops though ……wish I still had it …it was much more reliable than the 95 Altima I traded it for….
That was a downgrade!
My first car was a 78 Cutlass. All the nostalgias right now. It was a piece. But I got rear ended by a guy in a Grand Am going 40-- I drove it home.
Great video my friend.
Im a big Oldsmobile guy and that was sweet. love how you incorporated your dog !!
You definitely need to keep that man. It's too good.
Was never my car.
Nice one wheel peel! Sad what the 442 turned into just like so many other muscle cars in the 80's. My friend has a 69 442 w30 455 ram air convertible and a 67 442 his dad bought new. Love the mullet wig, classic!
i bow to you sir having the holy grail a g body i have owned about 10 currently have a 1987 cutlass t tops with 1983 hurst interior and drivetrain good stuff
The car is going to get parted out, not saved
@@nicolatesla768 I know I heard him
The mullet, the man, the burnout!!
Haha yes!
Hey Mortske..... Good that you've got a project that you can handle... Ultimate Duff car........
Gbody!! Love it. That one might need some work, but I'd buy it.
T-top removed! How Smokie and the bandit-ish of ya! I had a plain Jane 88 cutlass Supreme. Great car made good $$
Man I wish I still had my 86' 442 t-top,. Love to have another one to take her place . Possi traction, she catches 2 with no problem. My friend was out dogging the crap out of her and threw a rod threw the oil pan. I wish I didn't let him talk me into letting him keep it for a day ! Live and learn.
72 and 86 modules is what I first learned mechanics whew 20 years ago. Fun cars to rip around in.
Excellent video Mortske Repair :) also that car be fixable and get road worthy drive too! I remember cars well and know lots people like them to had since new and bought as second owner to! My oldest brother David had 1980 in black with updated 307 4 barrel carb daul exhaust with Turbo 700SR 4speed and 377 rear ends and to bad he went to Hard Rock concert in 1989 in Toronto Ontario Canada someone stole car never seen ever again!
I'm a ford guy but have sorta always had a soft spot for them G-Bodies. Absolutely am a closet Grand National lover and would give up my mustang for a nice clean GN. I think she's worth saving Motske. Alot of aftermarket repair panels for these. At least if the ol' subframe isn't Swiss cheese.
How can you not like a GN?!?
I remember when these were new way beyond my price range at the time...and still are today lol 😆 ended up buying a regular used 81 cutlass model around 86 with the less exciting 267 small block chevrolet but it was a great car for a lot of years and pretty decent on fuel too wish I still had it...good video awesome channel
love your channel,,been tinting cars since 1985....cant even count how many of those rolled in during the 80s.....yup its purple...todays film is far superior....though im old n beat up from decades of hopping in an out of 37k automobiles....i do few jobs a week with a 10yr film....crazy it just wont fade or fish eye..tech has come along way since the 80s...
Sure has!
Jamming the 80s guitar riff when the service truck comes out to do it's thing. Awesome.
I’d drive it! Another great video, Mortske! Love what you did to the mullet!😂🤪
Thanks Nancy!
The bottom side may be pretty rusty but this car is a rare beast. She deserves to be put back on the road. I hate when guys buy a car for parts and reason out in their mind it's not worth fixing. It's rarity is reason enough to save it.
I've always liked those G bodies. I was looked down upon by some of the older generation for expressing a real interest in a nice maroon Olds Cutlass of this style body back in the late 1980's. I'd like to set that record straight with them now.
And I'm guessing the overdrive transmission counts for the 442. Didn't 442 used to mean 4 barrel carb, 4 speed tranny and dual exhaust? 2 outa 3 ain't bad.😁
Lotta life left in this 1 Mortske , but alas the tin worm has gotten to it. Must of been a sight to see Mullet Mort and his faithful sidekick Duff cruising down highway sans t-tops. You always entertain 👍👍
Really good to see you and my friend duff. Nice car.
