Mr. B. Here ! 🧰🚙👀😎👍. Done ! Hope to see what you have in the pipe ! Oh ! , Am a big fan of A body’s the Colonnades, I know most dislike them !
@@debbiebermudez5890 Nah the 73-77 era were cool as well!
Nice to see the car won’t go entirely to waste . When I dragged my 72 cutlass out of a barn it took a couple days to get it running and driving . Someone replaced the resistance wire to the dist.with a full 12 volt wire and the result was a severe skip in the motor . I bet that is why it was parked.
@@jeffhargett6078 Mr. B. Here ! ☕️🍩👀😎👍. You nail it so many vehicle have been parked because un-qualified or no knowledge ! Have a good day ! 👀😎👍👀😎👍
These things all rotted in the bottom of the doors and the frame behind the rear wheels....and this one is no exception!
Enjoyed the 87 Cutlass G body burnout. Amazing doing it with a 3.8 liter. That interior is nice, and you are right, it will make a great donor car for your other projects. Great video!!
Thanks for watching!
Nice car! The motor sounds good.
You’re back and i finally got your notification!!!🔥🔥🔥
Yes! Please check out the videos I released last month as well! Appreciate your support.
@@ClassicGBodyGarage ok I will!!🔥🔥🔥
Back in the day I owned a 1983 Buick Regal with the V6....I remember the car was so slow I had a hard time making it up a hill one time.....
lol my cutlass was the same till I found out it was the carb. My car was starving for fuel uphill 😂
Not a power house at all.
I have an 87, Wisconsin car that never saw roads in the winter!
Question...would it be worth swapping the 3.8 for a 305-307??? Would the existing tranny bolt up? I'll so appreciate your response!
If you're going go through the trouble of a swap then I would personally make it worthwhile and go with a 350. You must go with an Olds, Buick or Pontiac engine as thats what the trans will accept. If you go with a Chevy then you need to change the trans. But as far as the trans holding up, most V6 cars used the Turbo 350 so you will have to confirm you have this trans. If yours has the Metric 200 then it won't last.
You can buy an adapter to bolt a Chevy motor to a BOP trans but your right it's not going to last behind a V8 for long at all they were weak and then consider upgrading the rear diff as well a V8 and a car with the V6 rear diff is fast or well quick because the gear ratio is low meaning a higher number but they don't take much abuse ask me how I know lol swapped out many V6 cars to V8 s both olds motors and Chevy motors the holes are drilled in the frames to accept almost any engine you might want to put in there from the factory
*I need that motor! My Buick 3.8 in my 83 just lost oil pressure and developed a nasty rod knock a month ago*
email me classicgbodygarage@gmail.com and we can work something out. Motor is great and the carb was not dumping gas down it so all is good. Runs smooth and no internal noises. Would love to sell it to someone who can use.
That's a bare bones base model Cutlass.
Every time I see a Cutlass for sale they are asking tons of money. I can understand if it's a 442 or Hurst Olds but gezzzz, just a plain Jane cutlass they are asking the moon!!!! I miss my 84 Cutlass Brougham
High demand right now
1986 Cutlass Salon with T tops, sexy!!!!!!!!
I need parts off the 87 cutlass
Those bright wheel lip moldings are anodized aluminum not chrome.
Yes you are correct but typically called "chrome"
i have a 3.8 1984 nobdy wants to touch it lol might have to swap it to aLS
Any G-Body Apparel....
Re-Doing' '87 Monte' Carlo S/S.....
Keep up the G' Vids...👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Shirts, decals and keychains email me. contact in description. Thanks for watching!
I had the same 3.8 in my 84 monte carlo (that I have since I was 15 ). In 2018 I had rod knock on cylinder 3. Ever since then it was sitting until November of last year when finally had enough money saved up that I swap in a 5.3 with 4l60e .it took me about 1 month since I was waiting for swap parts and only have time to work on it on the weekends. But it was all worth it because she is filling back on the road.
Would loooove to see that Monte!
Awesome to get working on it again!
Does that fuel pump have a return line? That could account for the excessive fuel disappearing from the approved container up front. I know that my 82 Malibu with 229 v6 doesn't have a return, but a lot of carbureted cars did.
It does and was dumping on the ground cuz it was rotted so that was the issue after I was done filming I noticed.
Mr. B. Here ! 🍸👀😎👍🧰. The DOT release a statement every year ( Vehicles should be WASHED to remove the chemicals used to DE-ICE road ) but a last no one cares for one of the most expensive purchases. I hear it all it to cold the car wash is to expensive; well it’s more expensive to replace the car than care for it ! Oh my wife is who will argue with me about winter car washing. Am retired service manager and done the winter and still have my daily driver ! 🧽🧼🪣🧰🧽🧼🪣🧰
@charlieb308 Mr. B. Here ! 🍩🍩☕️☕️👀😎👍. At the time I worked for Olds, I drove 1976 442 here in NY , did not have any issues. But you are correct by the 80’s the sheet metal was even lighter than 76, I have a 1984 Delta 88 as a driver and I fighting the rust non-stop, the is good 6 passenger car and it for a good backup car !
Outside hot water tap. Best $200 you can ever spend.
awesome car....we had a 1978 Cutlass Supreme Brougham...252 cid...had it 14 years...loved it
Would have been a 260 Olds V8
Brian, do you still have that Camaro? If so, was wondering if you're ever gonna do a video on it? I know this is for the GBody but I really wanna see it. 😬 Great video.. Still gotta try and get my 87 442 running. Been sitting in the garage for like 15 years..
Yeah I still have it and plan to do a video on it. Time to get yours running!
I live in California. I cannot find the front bumper filler. I also need the whole front clip too. Mines an 84. I dont know if a euro clip would fit. Do you know anyone who has parts?? I love your channel.
I have euro parts. email me classicgbodygarage@gmail.com Euro parts are not cheap and yes they swap.
Have a 87 myself sometimes I have to knock on the starter with a mallet. What could that be? I changed it….also the speedometer doesn’t work either.
Speedo cable might be broke or the speedo itself. If you replaced the starter and it still has issues then it might be the cables.
I had a Holley carb put to on 87 Cutlass. I drove it from SC to Florida 8 months ago. It was running fine until I let it sit for about a month. Now the V8 will not run, it will turn over with starter fluid. I’m thinking the fuel pump might be gone. I don’t know if it has the fuel filter like you removed.
Yeah might be the fuel pump or the float stuck. Tap the front bowl of the carb with a rubber mallet and it may fix it.
oh I am subscribed!! I love your videos please keep them coming.
Thanks for subbing!
WISH IT WAS MINE
It was sucking gas so fast because of the return line, all the gas it wasn't using was getting pumped back into the tank.
Yep you are right, I figured that out after filming.
Is this the same 87 Cutlass that was recently sold at Auto Parts City in Gurnee, Illinois?
No it was an Ohio car for years.
Does it have a fuel return line going back to gas tank? If so, probably where all the gas is going
Yep that is where it was going, most of it on the ground cuz its rotted.
Any chance I can buy the radio from this car? Great video as always keep em coming.
I will let you know. I may use it if it works.
Man i get so excited as if it was me working on the car. If you do rebuilt the carb. Can you please do a video.
Nice 👍🏽
My cutlass has a chevy 305, but it’s a Canadian built car. Thx for the check valve filter advise as well.
Canadian built has nothing to do with it. It's often the destination market and what engines met what emission standards in the given year.
Why does it have to run? It looks like Hell. Sell it for parts.
I'm going to use it for part.
Gas was probably going back to the tank
thats what I was thinking.
Need a bench seat. Preferably not the split 40/60
I have one from a 78 Cutlass, email me if you can pick it up local to Cleveland Ohio classicgbodygarage@gmail.com
was the reurn line still hooked to the pump, cause that could be where all the new fuel ended up!
Yep it was the return line.
@@ClassicGBodyGarage ah very good!👍
Nice dash for sure, decent parts car, hey we can't save them all. I just grabbed another one yesterday man. i'll bring er out to the Gbody classic in July.
Def see you there!
Hey gbody brother, I got a 88 cutlass with the 307 engine. I’m looking for the washer that goes on the camshaft. If you have this or can point me in the right direction I’ll appreciate it.
(My friend and son dismantled the bock and now I’m left guessing 😢)
I remember my dad had a 84 4door with a 3.6 it pushed are 97 suburban that car was tough ...also took my drivers test in that car ...miss it
3.8

Dude my buddy in high school have a 78 Cutlass 4-speed from the factory he might even still have the wrecked car LOL he flipped it but anyway I've always wanted one I had the Monte Carlo's but never a four-speed you got anything sweet like that I prefer 78 Cutlass

Nice
I love all your videos! Do you know where I can find some 1979 Malibu rear tail lights in good shape?
Liked and subscribed from the old mans garage 👍🇺🇸
What is the link to your Facebook page? I am messing around with this type of stuff and who knows we might be able to actually work. I am actually in the state of Maine.
Do you still be selling parts if so im looking for a power seat track for my 1986 Buick Regal
Great video as allways
Nice work! Struggling with my 83 elco rn but love to see your work
Great video I remember when these euro front clip Cutlass supreme classic were everywhere in the 90s incredible cars
Man I’m happy to see your back in the channel
I have been kicking off the year. Check out the other 2 videos from last month. Thanks for watching.

I was just in your inbox looking for those head lights
Restore that Oldsmobile not too many left on road all you see is 442 s at car shows and on the road not many of these plain jane Oldsmobiles around
Nice 😊interior
Mr. B. Here ! 👀😎👍 looks like it will make a great parts car 🚙 . Good luck going forward & very informative.
Thanks for watching!
It's a nice looking car, too bad it has so much rust. I hope you can salvage a lot of parts from it, at least the interior is in good shape. Thanks for sharing!
I had an 84 that was a dreaded diesel but when the diesel motor went we swapped in an older 350 rocket from a 72 Cutlass that was a rust bucket of course but that made that car fun to drive for sure it would get it for some reason it had a limited slip rear end and being a diesel the exhaust came apart nice and easy it was of a plug and play of course being the same engine had a blast w that car after the engine swap of course lol love those g body's still and I bet that one still has a few miles left in her
How much for the rear window trim?
You make it look to easy big fan for long time
My first car a 78 Supreme had the wee 6 in it .
Thanks for watching!
I need the interior on this thing for mine!
Restore that bad boy! So rare! Mom had one with sport package and loved it.
This one is really bad, body, floors, frame etc. Not worth it. If it was a 442 with ttops then yes.
Just started watching this. Love the Cutlass G Body. lol try pushing a 70s B body on gravel. lol
Pushing cars is no fun! Gotta get them running to yard drive at least.
@@ClassicGBodyGarage Ain’t THAT the truth. lol
That dark blue Cutlass behind you looks really nice!
I will be doing a video on that one soon! Make sure to Subscribe and add notifications. Thanks for your support.
How do I order one of those Hoodies?
They will be available on the website this Spring! Link in the description.
Good stuff Brian. I love watching your channel and your play-by-play on getting these machines running again. Thanks brotha!
Save it
This one is too far gone.
How much you want for that finder chrome It will fit my 84 perfect

@@ClassicGBodyGarage 👍🏾
I've had several of those 3.8 engines and they're garbage. The biggest problem with them is the external oil pump that goes out and the bearings get destroyed .
I do an old school tune-up on my cars and then some.
- mechanical fuel pump will work, but eventually it'll burst and leave a trail of fluid. So replace it when you do the fuel filter.
- spark plugs, wires, distributor cap and rotor button, sometimes the coil, PCV valve, air filter, breather filter, all vacuum lines, all rubber lines period, all plastic check valves in the emissions stuff and wiper hoses.
- brake hoses get changed, etc.
I could keep going. I've had "driving restorations" that were my only car in my youth and learned a lot of lessons the hard way. Like living in upstate NY in the winter with a carb car means keeping a fuel can in the trunk, because fuel line freeze up and vapor lock are real.
- change the v-belts because of they're old - they're not good. Always keep a spare v-belt on you too.
- don't trust the rear diff fluid is good. I've changed drum brakes to find the seal leaked and the bearings were about to say "send it!" With squeals and bangs on the next trip. If it doesn't leak, that doesn't mean it didn't. 🤣
I love my old cars, and my Thirdgen Camaro gave me trust issues. My G-Body has had first class treatment to ensure I don't learn more lessons.
thanks for taking the time to watch my video and type all of this out. It will be very helpful for many.
The RPO code "LD5" 3.8L VIN code "A" 231 CID V6 was a heap and had a terrible oiling system. This one appears to be US assembled, but no VIN, can't win, so it might have a VIN like: 1G3 for US made Oldsmobile, GR47 for Cutlass Supreme two door, A for 3.8L (231 CID) V6 with two barrel, Buick produced (although by 1986 considered "Corporate), RPO code "LD5", then a check digit, then G for the 1986 model year, maybe R for Arlington, TX assembly or P for Pontiac, MI assembly (among other choices), and the rest is the production sequence.
No SPID, wish you did (on the trunk label...it's there, but you didn't show it), but possible code 22 or 25 Light Blue exterior paint.
You know your VIN and RPO codes for sure. I haven't decoded this one on where it was built.
@@ClassicGBodyGarage I didn't see a Canadian maple leaf decal on the door (assuming it didn't fall off), so that rules out Ste. Therese, Quebec Canada if so. Arlington and Pontiac would be my two guesses. Over the years, they were built at other plants too, such as Framingham, Doraville, and Lansing, but those were typically in the earlier years.
Love those cars great video. Wish people appreciated them .I loved them from first time I saw them back in 77
Thanks for watching!
This was fun! Can't wait for the next
