Thanks for this, fantastic spotlight video.I have been an avid fan and user of edcopilot for over a year. The customization options are simply amazing. You haven’t even scratched the surface on its features, and suggest everyone that sees this video, does a search for similar content. Edcopilot is also free, the author/ programmer ( Cmdr Razzafrag ) relies solely on donations and contributions. The only other thing you will need is a full voice attack account ( not demo)

The major problem with providing a general modding API is that by neccessity you are loading non-ED code into the same process as ED code, and it is not impossible for someone to write a mod which tracks calls etc and works out how to give an unfair advantage - (for example buffing weapons etc).
I like the fact that the journal files present a tightly controlled and very restricted API and-allow only very limited customization (for instance as demonstrated here). It would be nice if customisers such as ED-Co-Pilot could disable some of the inbuilt announcements - but doing that without exposing more of the code would be tough.
@@anthonyflury3979 A lot of the announcements can be toggled in settings. I ONLY use the journals, and the exposed json files (status, market, backpack). No insidious peaking into memory going on.

I love copilot, really helps with everything. Especially out exploring systems, tells me if i discovered a system, auto-honk, auto-course plotting. Razzafrag really gave us a gift❤
EDCoPilot just makes ExoBio solo so much more pleasurable.
OMGosh YES! I recently started with ExoBio and I cant imagine doing it without it! It's great to not have to guess how far to go.
@@SonicEmbassyRandomAccessWell, for me it is part of the game to estimate right distance.... and it is very easy..... You want to estimate 500m distance??? Go straight up by 500m and point down by 45°. Your ship points to the border of 500m... Just go there.... Any adjustments to the terrain are easy by just go a little bit beyond. Been doing that so often, I have it in my muscle mem and dont need to go up any more. Ah second trick.... Make a test with a settlement for measuring the time you need to travel 500m with a predefined/reproducible process. You need the station as a fixpoint/finish line only.... Example for me.... Select settlement.... go dist of 500m..... 180° turn.... put ship in exobio config (4pips sys, 2 pips eng, gear down).... make a nice countdown and.... press 100% throttle button and start button on your phone's stop watch..... stop and watch until the.compass' ball turns from solid to hollow and press stop on your timer.... note down that time..... throw away that piece of paper and have a beer. I like it mix ED CoPilot with EDDI.
EDDI is my "COVAS replacement" and CoPilot does external voices. Really love it.

I also LOVE Elite Dangerous ! I have 6300+ hours and 2.45 million LY under my belt to proof it. My carrier is the "Deep Space Mine" and is currently in the Centralis-System near Colonia preparing for a very long exploration journey to the other side of the Galaxy with a friend who should arrive in Colonia any day now. We both have mining- and exploration vessels parked on the carrier. He still has some engineering to do, but hey ... what better place for this then in Colonia. 😇🤪

I roleplay by myself in most games I play. In Fallout 4 and Cyberpunk 2077, when enemy NPC's yell something at me, I talk back to them. "You'll be sorry when I find you!" Um, no, you'll be sorry when you find me. So hey, you're not alone! Roleplay on man!

I agree; I don't like how my traffic controller treats me like just another schmuck rolling up to the carrier. "Yeah, you'd best clear me for docking. I own this thing and your employment future is on the line!"
I just started using EDCopilot about three days ago. Right now, I have no idea how you set this up. Also, I can't understand a word of what your copilot is saying.

And on that note, I should be able to shoot whoever I want (with the exception of PvP for obvious reasons) without my own damn carrier attacking me

I do wish the voice was a bit less clear and had more static. In addition something I’d love is to hear background chatter and other ships being told where to go. Sure they’re NPCs, but ATC has an open mic and you can hear other crafts and their communication. Have a function where you can toggle radio frequencies and only hear commands that pertain to you.
In addition, having ATC communicate with each other would be so amazing.
I know mods can only go so far… but I feel like we shouldn’t need mods for something like that. Makes it so much more immersive.
Another thing that I wanna nit pick at is the two different tones of the controllers just feels off-putting. Having them sound similar (as in quality, and tone) would truly make it fit so much better.

There are options to increase and decrease the distortion and the radio beeps. Oh, there is space chatter and it is AMAZING. I haven't even gotten to that part yet. That will be in the video AFTER the next video. trust me, it's awesome!!
Not sure what you mean, but you can create dialogue that can simulate what I 'think' you mean...

Yeah, I get it. I like the differences bc to me it represent 'people' from all parts of the bubble that may sound completely different. But you don't have to have 2 controllers. I'm just overboard like that lol.
Thats fun, but I prefer HCS voice packs and Voice attack, then I'm talking and no text to voice oddities
The pronunciation oddities are mainly because OP uses non-English language voices for his characters, and they are trying to pronounce using their native language rules. English voices are much clearer and easier to understand.
Cool cool. The only thing with those would be the limitation of only having pre-recorded lines from the actors, nothing new (unless they bring them back in to record more and pay them more). Which is fine. But with this the sky is the limit. But as long as you're happy thats all that matters! :-)
@@SonicEmbassyRandomAccess They have a service called Ad Astra that uses digital voice to get more lines. It can be pretty in depth

Madeline and Eden. Wonderful COVAS choices for the discerning commander. One thing to note, there's also (for a fee) the HCS Voicepacks out there that combine voiceattack with additional dialogue. One of the packs they offer is Eden, so it expands the interaction with your ship quite a lot, but you do need the software and a microphone to get the interaction. Personally, I wish Frontier would be taking note of these fantastic third party apps and tools and look at integrating a version them into the game down the road. I mean, NPCs are always NPCs (I was a Cylon like you.... until I took an arrow to the knee) but after 10 years the same canned "Remember this liner is in the top 1%" and "I'm gonna boil you up!!" lines are worse than Yoda's home cooking. (Funnnnyyyy joke!)

This question is for anyone. Can you do ANYTHING with the carrier except go from one system to another (not being able to run in systems)? I'm just starting to come back since the Odyssey debacle in May '21.

I use the G19s companion app for space chatter. Its not a supported app any more AFAIK, but its still pretty good for SRV navigation and the space chatter. It doesn't work with cloud voices though, just any SAPI5 voices you have installed.
I used to use that app, then decided (and i had users request it) to add my own spin on it.

There are SO many settings, but there are settings for Limpets and Fighter Crew reminders you can easilly turn on and off. I spend most of my time doing coding and support, so dont really have bandwidth to do an Install video. I saw one in Italian last week though! If someone wants to make one, I'd be happy with that

I love ED Co-pilot, but haven't had the time to learn how to create the type of customisations you've discussed. Would love it if you created some tutorials on how to optimise and customise ED Co-pilot.

Hmmm, I'm not familiar with that one, but this one I can confirm does anything I need it to so far. :-)
A few users user both at the same time...... "out of the box" they will conflict on announcements. You will have to switch some off in EDDI and some off in EDCoPilot, depending on your preference.

If I understand your question, you can turn off 'space chatter'. I 'think' FC Greetings are a separate option, so i'd like to say....yes(?)
How cool would it be if these were somehow networked with other commanders co pilots so that it you land on another CMDRs carrier you get their traffic control?
Hmm, well, you can set specific voices for specific stations (showing that in my 3rd video coming soon), so you could literally set THEIR FC voice in your edcp, so when you visit it's the same, soooo kinda close to what you're saying I think.
Your comment is timely! I have JUST published a version for my Beta Test team to kick the tires on, that will do JUST THAT for carriers owned by other EDCoPilot Commanders, where the FC owner can also grant other Commanders VIP access. Greetings will change based on if you are : VIP, In wing with the FC owner, in same squadron as the FC owner, same faction, or if they have allowed just a "standard" greeting for any other schmo landing.

I use hpc voice packs but these are cool for the fc
Whats great about this is that you can create your own dialogue for any of them to say. But it works alongside what you're using too.

Fantastic Video! Only flaw.....on a Carrier, it's called CDC (Combat Direction Center), not CIC (Combat Information Center) that's for Small boys (CG, DDG, FF, etc), lol. I love what you've done with EDcP! Looking forward to your next Vid!

Your ship has a voice too. PLus you can have voices for as many 'crew' on your ship that you want. Stattion also have voices...covering that in video 3. :-)

Neat There is a lot that is missing. That is that the game world sees "YOU" as the protagonist. I mean that is the core of really any other game. But in ED you are just anthor NPC. And that is a odd thing.
Interesting perspective. BUt kind of like real life tho, we're all the stars of our own show and everyone else are the side characters...? Wait now I'm cross-eyed.

Haha, I know, this is more in my wheelhouse. But it's designed to work alongside VA and will respond to commands.
My fleet carrier is Spaceball 2 the Store. I have tons of modules, few ships, and as much commodities as I can fit in the ship. I was hoping that ED would have better support for trading on carriers but its not the case. I wish they had a more in depth page for commodities so you know exactly what is selling instead of a line that says "deeeerrr you sold stuff this week derrrrr"

Yes you can control both the speed and the pitch. The native English voices are also easier to understand.
@@EDCoPilot I'm probably jumping to high here, but is it possible to use an audio file of a specific voice and have the AI mimic it? Because if so it'd be kinda cool to have someone like Cortana from halo or Otocon from MGS
You can have your voices work through sites like 11 labs, so, theoretically yes. :-D
NPC should move out system by system over X time and occupy more systems - All so be nice if you could find a nice system call X corporation and pay them to build a station for you at a cost of cause The devs are very lazy with Elite this game could be so much bigger
I've downloaded and installed the program but it only recognises the ship I'm in and works fine. It doesn't recognise my Carrier or that the Carrier is mine.
Do you have to set this up manually? The ship side just worked as soon as it was installed.

Nope. Hmmm, join the Discord and go to 'Known issues' first. Then maybe hit 'support questions'. The creator is always around helping us out.
Run the History Refresh so it learns all your activities and ships etc from previous game journals .... Management Tab -> History Refresh button

I followed your instructions, unfortunately my Carrier still doesn't recognize me or that the Carrier is mine. Also there is no reference to Carriers in the settings menu.
Am I missing something simple?

@@AndyB254 Click on the Settings icon at top second right, then will open Settings, then click the grey button at top that says "Basic Settings (click the grey button at top to access the other Settings sections)" ... you will then get a drop down list of all the settings pages available. Click on "Space Chatter - Main Settings" and on that page make sure "Space Chatter on/off" is set to ON and that "Station Chatter Fleet Carrier greetings on/off" is also set to ON.

There are options to turn most things off, so you can only hear the things you want to. EDCP has covered all play styles, it's crazy. 😁

I wanted to play ED, have it even installed, but i heard the grind is so insanly brutal, its just not worth it. 😢
Don't forget you don't have to grind. It's when you want to advance really fast that it gets the most grindy imho.
That is currently being "rebalanced" by the developers. They are making it easier to gather the materials you need for the main engineering tasks for your ship, suit and weapons.

If you have DeepL or Google Translate accounts set up (and there are free monthly quotas for both), then there are options to translate all the Ship AI and all the Space Chatter into your chosen language. It will also select the correct voice for the language needed, so if you translate into Italian for example it will speak the translated phrase using an Italian voice, so that it pronounces properly. However if no translation, it will pronounce the ship names using the English voices, which may mis-pronounce it. There are ways to force it to pronounce words differently though, if that happens.
Space should be quiet. I love the game as is, but that's just me.

Yeah, some do, some don't. BUT, I love that we're not dependent on pre-recorded lines which is very limiting. (and I say that as a voice artist myself).

Yes. You are correct in so many ways. What edd has done to its own game will forever be a nightmare. Always waiting always on edge just waiting and seeing the same rubbish every dev is doing. Greedy is more important. I am again going to leave this game soon. Waiting to see what next in the update.
I started feeling burnt out too. EDCoPilot LITERALLY changed the game for me. :-)
