  • What does a healthy relationship look like? Drs. Julie Schwartz Gottman and John Gottman, cofounders of the Gottman Institute, joined me on the podcast to discuss a few healthy habits we can incorporate into our relationships.
In this clip, they explain one called “turning towards.” It means when your partner makes a bid for connection, you respond. By using a few of these, you can create a stronger connection with your partner.
You can find the full episode on The Doctor’s Farmacy.

It would work both ways. Acknowledgement goes a long way to encourage intimacy. However, no one needs be a victim, bless your husband/wife especially if they are unaffirming towards you.

In affirming doesn’t create victims but according to the Gotlieb’s. There are four horse of the apocalypse that are statistically involved in poor relationships. Being critical, contemptuous ,stonewalling or defensive😮

Please describe exactly what you mean by bless your significant other ESPECIALLY when they DONT affirm or turn toward you.

lol. I pray my husband loves cows to the point that he keeps them as domestic pets and we can live in a small farm where he cleans them, feeds them, and loves them. Not anti beef eaters for I do not feel I need to be anti anyone to love some beings. It's all about actions and this video makes sense. :) And yes it goes both ways. Else self love is the best love which you can give to all if you learn to develop that. Hard to do! Can start with family for sure. Just left my thoughts here as I could not resist after watching this little video clip.

The Gottmans literally wrote the book on What Makes Good Marriages Work.
Look them up. They've been studying what makes individuals and couples thrive in relationships for nearly 50 years.
