Chuck and Karen sold Axis to a dickhead named Zed. He ripped me off when I ordered some replacement parts. These are quite appealing pedals. Definitely considering the switch.
Played them at my local drum store the other week, boi o boyyy these things are wicked, fast and so much smoother than demon drives. The speed I could hit without any effort and power & punch combined, just blew me away. Absolutely fantastic new pedals from Pearl ❤
You know a pedal is great when you take it right out of the box and it feels like home. You made them look so comfortable, like you've been using them for years!
I built a set of these beaters for under $10 at the hardware store and they are absolute fire. These beaters fvcking crush! Thank you Pearl for being industrial AF!!
Metalmaterials in hardwares has improved à LOT. In the seventies and eighties were often ferromagnesium used and the threads just got worne out. And the pedals actually cracked. Yes, I have stepped through a bassdrumpedal of a qualitybrand in the days…. Die cast shit Metal…. And the first doublepedals, with delayeffects that killes your playing. When you used them you adjusted your timing to compensate the slow left pedal, and back on double bassdrums, you started to play incorrect timing. 1980, I put my finger on the basspeaker to figure out the double bassdrumming on records. No UA-cam back in the days. This is just great, Im going up now on the attic working on heal toe…..😊
I was sold on these since before they’re officially release and I was able to find a pair in Europe before they went retail in the US. My demon drives are now collecting dust and I’ll never go back to any other pedals because of these babies. I’m in love 🥰
My Demon Drives outlasted all my previous pedals, COMBINED. Iron cobra, broke on me. Speed Cobra, broke on me. Same spot. I then got the Axis but wasnt a fan of the clear unbalance I felt from the slave pedal ( as a double bass pedal). I'm sure you didnt have any problem with 2 singles. But man. I remember the day I unboxed my DD's and felt how absolutely no other tuning was required and it felt way more balanced than all other pedals. That equal spacing between the beaters in relation to the center of the head is NOT to be avoided if you have 1 bass drum.I can't wait to have a problem with my demon drives cause I feel like its next best thing if you can't get your hands on the Kopytos. I freaking WISH they would break on me so that I could try these monsters.
I have had the same crappy double pedals for like 15 years and really have been wanting to upgrade finally as I have been taking metal drumming very seriously lately... These might have to be the move when I can save up enough!
God Damn!!!!! The last time i played drum was last year... i'm to busy to play now but man I need this pedal !!! I want to play again! Best presentation of Pearl pedal ever!!! 🤘🤘🤘🤘
I just bought a single yesterday. Was blown away. By far the best pedal I've ever had under my foot. Also, the case was a nice surprise, it's damned fine quality!
Pearl always delivers the fucking best gear for drumming, hands down!!! I have the demon chain but i switch the chain with a strap and broo, best pedal i ever had in my life!!
My DW 5000 double pedal is over 20 years old now. They have been great and still in fantastic condition. It's time to upgrade though and i think these are the ones ❤
These look hella sexy! I bought my demon double pedals 8 years ago. My drumming wasn't anywhere near where I'd need pedals of that quality, but hot damn, those are the best pedals I've ever used.
I remember starting out with double bassdrums in 81. The guys to watch for was Aldridge, Powell, Downey, Bozzio, Peart, Stevie Smith, amongst some guys, and it was no double strokes at all. Hardly any sixteen notes at all, did you play that they kicked you out of the studio. The song Now You See it, Now You Dont, with Ozzy, cool double bass fills, but heavy and slow. Or Snortin Whiskey with Pat Travers, heavy, and solid, but slow stuff, ( but brilliant). Smith with MacAlpine kicked off som stuff in the days. Ulrich, and Travis started out to playing faster stuff, and Lombardo and the rest followed, and todays double drumming is on another level, aswell as pedals. Blast beat drummers really put this straight on the floor. You rock in 200 bpm…….
Maaaaan this video makes me wanna buy them NOW!! As someone who started playing Pearl at 11 years old and has been a Pearl diehard for the last 20 years…these pedals OUTSHINE the demon drives sooo much!! Great video! Also, only one person made a mention of Day 69 by Decapitated. ☹️
i have used the demon drive direct drive pedal for over 10 years with no issues ... i have to get my hands on these and try the new XR pedals .. they basically do what my demon drives do ..
I noticed Mike Mangini is using some hybrid Pearl pedals that look like they merged with a pair of Offsets. I love the idea of the offset design for a single bass drum. Time to upgrade my Tama Probeats...
This video made me really happy... and it was only because it was just showing the pedal work the entire time. I know, it's because it was a pedal video. But I really love watching footwork for different types of beats. I don't even have a foot fetish but I wish I did, so I could love this video even more.
Same here. I bought the originals back when they debuted in '09. Grabbed these when they came out as well and they are as advertised in my opinion. Just awesome.
Looks like great pedals. Yes the triggers definitely help. Direct drives are awesome. Chain has more lag than people notice. If you have fast feet, the double chain drive will not be able to keep up. I have some Derek Roddy Axis A21 Long boards that are killer! Would never go back to chains after playing with them. Right on man! Love your videos! 👊🏼👊🏼🤘🏼🤘🏼
Amazing audio, and promotion. Would love to see you use these for covering Trivium’s later work. Specifically The Sin And The Sentence, and What The Dead Men Say.
Seeing you put the doubles on of 2 basedrums ( as one does), reminded me on a DLR consert in London Uk in 1988. DLR had just left WH and I saw him both on Monsters of Rock ( Donington) and then again ( this consert) in the famous Hammersmith Odeon. He was telling stories between song and 1 was about the hireing of band members. When he talked about the drummer he said: After listening to zillion tapes we called about 15 to meet with us ( he had Steve Vai at this point) and to narrow things down the first question was: Do you have 1 or 2 basedrums on your kit??? Each guy who answered 1 was sent out the door, not because it had any bearing on how they played but it had everything to do with HOW COOL his kit would look on stage!!🎉😂😂😅😅🎉🎉
hello sir, I've been watching all your UA-cam's and although I am not into metal, I'm a complete fan of yours. I just wanted to say that I really appreciated that video on the pearl demon petals. Pearl has a special place in my heart because my mom's name is Pearl. I happen to own a pearl drum kit. I know, obvious. I'm so obvious. As I was watching your video, I needed to slow it down to half speed to figure out what you were doing. It was difficult to see the nuance of your technique. It helped that you were without shoes. As I was watching, I noticed the position of your foot on the pedal being 2/3 of the way back from the beater. When the aha moment happened. You're using the balance point of the pedal just like you would use the balance points of your stick. I say it out loud and it sounds completely obvious now. I'm going to start paying more attention to that balance point. Maybe it will help me. I'm so grateful to you. I can't play half the stuff you play even at half speed. I'm actually a drum teacher. I'm 58 years old and I've pivoted to teaching drums from living in the corporate world for a little bit too long. It's fried my brain. Anyways, it's like waking up from a bad dream. I've watched my children and adult students develop and get better so I know I'm on the right track here. I'm starting to get a few talented students now and I'm going to be helping 1 try and get into district band. It's a high level of a concert band type scenario. He reads like a son of a gun. Here's another share for you. I got contacted by the Make a wish foundation for kids with cancer. They have a five year old, who is a multi instrumentalist guess what his favorite instrument is that he wants to play? His wish was to get a drum set. So Make a wish came through. However, when they found out that his family was completely musical and multi instrumentalist, and they play for their church , they thought he was deserving of lessons. That's where I come in. I watched a video of this kid and he was playing triplets over eighth notes. He's completely self taught. I was blown away. The kids five years old! it's bitter, sweet because I'm not sure if he's going to live very long, but he is going to be a bright shining golden light while he does. If he makes it to 20 years old, he's going to kick both of our asses. I'm sure of it! I am so honored to serve this child. I'm hoping that he gets me some press so that I can grow the location at the school. so far, I only have one student that worked out for only a month. So I'm hoping this brings a little bit more business for this starving musician. I'd rather starve because it's worth it but it might be nice to actually make a living at this thing. It's taken me two years to keep my head above water just barely. The journey has been so worth it and so rewarding. I've been to a lot of other things too. Marching band instruction for lunenburg and I also teach the afterschool program there. I also work for City Music that has two store locations. And I've applied to guitar Center to teach. Hopefully I'll be able to afford that demon petal because boy that thing is beautiful. Thanks for listening, and thanks for being so awesome. You're hilarious! You remind me of the more extreme version of myself. All the best! Happy new year, Mike S Percussion instructor
Save up; it’ll be worth it. I used to have a 5000 like you too but the drive shafts become shitty after a few years. I got the Dyna-Syncs earlier this year, and I’m never looking back.
These would be the dream pedals for sure. I wound up getting a used set of Axis longboards for my first set, but will definitely be saving up for some of these to have on my new Pearl 8 piece kit. I'm one of those new drummers who shoot for very expensive first time gear pieces. A "buyhard," if you will. 🤙

I’ve been using a Demon drive single pedal for years and it’s super responsive and quick. I recommend it for any genre
Hell yeah dude those pedals look sick AF. And matches your kit quite nicely 😊
Pearl are really the best reason to play drums, not only because its the motto but because samus uses them too😂
