Man, I had the exact same problems half a year ago with the Axis drive shaft. Was doubting to get the ACD ones but I already had to buy ACD heel blocks, spring assembly to replace Axis ones. This was the final straw, my Axis pedals just kept breaking down. Went back to Eliminators and never looked back again 😎

Love this video, thanks for putting it up. I hate the rattle noise the Axis shaft makes. The ACD is so damn smooth it should come with a butter knife. Band sounds great too.

Install spring on master pedal instead slave lol. When it sits on slave pedal it causing wearing off joints faster

Thanks for the tip, I did not know that! My old axis had both spring on the master, and this new one I bought from marketplace came as it is and haven't bothered putting the slave to the master. I do see a lot of guys having this same set up so I thought it's fine

Not trying to be a dick, I just genuinely don’t see how that would affect the joints. Could you elaborate maybe?

@@link3693I'll trying to explain. When you installing spring on slave side you causing sign-alternating load momentum in shaft. Backlash in joints in this situation "moved" on every cycle and causing impact load in joints. Beater and remaining part of the shaft after spring also can chatter in process because it free to do it in backlash-range. Contrary if you installing spring on master pedal - shaft works on same sign "preload" on every moment of time. Backlash in joints are "compressed" and not (or almost not untill you remain you toe in contact with footboard) chatter.
This clearly visible and hearable on cheap pedals with cheap shafts. Some of them are allow to install spring on slave side (in order to separate pedals) and when users missing this moment and install spring on slave side in double-pedal configraton this generates a lot of complains lol. This is also reason why double pedals like Trick with spring on slave pedal requare high quality shafts with bearings in joints. In normal double pedals with both springs on main pedal you will be OK with bad shaft (especially if this is not direct drive, but TAMA install average quality shaft even on tama dyna sync), but avarage and bad quality shafts are not usable in pedals with separate springs. I hope I was succesful in reasoning my position, I am still not master technical English enough lol.
You can disconnect slave springs and try to fast wigle beater back and forth but only just rotating cam on slave pedal, if you have shaft with backlash you will feel what I talking about. This immitate situateion when spring installed on slave pedal.
PS you also can clearly hear on video how stock axis shaft struggle in this situation and how it doesn't like it.

Is there an ACD online store for USA?

    • @1nfktd696

There is none. ACD is owned and operated by 1 man, located in Austria. But they ship worldwide, just order from their website. i’m from PH and didn’t have any problem at all

Never thought of trying Trick because you’d have to buy some sort of additional conversion assembly for the joints, just to be able to use Trick Driveshaft on Axis. ACD is already perfect.
