- Morrison Knudeson’s former ATSF 5160 SD-40-2, leads an 8 hour late Southwest Chief east into Galesburg. Listen closely as you’ll hear Amtrak #4 whistling crossing on its westbound trip into town and beyond. July 10, 1996. Credits: C. R. Miller Archives. All rights reserved.
The second train departing is one of the best Amtrak videos, ever. I find myself waving at the engineer every time.
That's very nice, thanks. Pop and his video...our fishing. The best of times.
I enjoy watching old Amtrak videos.
The first and last time I rode the SWC pass this depot, was in January 1995 heading towards Chicago! I was shocked and surprised of me riding the SWC on #3, for the first time, returning to Kansas in 2007, that Amtrak no longer used this station! BNSF should have allowed Amtrak to keep using this station, I'd wondered why when I left Chicago on train #3, why we didn't head straight to Joliet, on the Chilli sub towards Galesburg...I knew then something was a bit different with the route between 1995-2007! Great video though of the last moments of this station in use!👍
That's amazing! On the old, non quiet zoned Santa Fe through there! And an F40 as well! Man, I wish I was alive in the 1990's.
I LOVE that K5LA on the second train!
What horn was on the atsf?

From Santa Fe tracks to Burlington Northern tracks because it's a BNSF merger with Burlington Northern, the Southwest Chief is switched over to BN Rails between Chicago and Galesburg
Wow..Trains changed alot from this video compared to trains recorded in 2017
Wow! This area looks so different
A nice rare video of the old ATSF Galesburg depot, prior to the Cameron Connector opening which took the Southwest Chief off the Chillicothe Subdivision.
Thanks. C.R. would appreciate your comments!
What horn did the atsf have?
QUE HERMOSO TREN CUANDO LOS MEXICANOS TENGAMOS EL DE NOSOTROS ( TREN MAYA)
The Mayan train looks like a big project. I hope the environmental impacts are low and economic impacts are great. Good luck.
those brakes are teribble not gonna lie
