Again, just like the Surfline, This Lakewood Sub is a route I'd love to go and film trains atas well. Very nice video, I hope you have a great weekend!
I would think that those electronic crossing horns would be far more irritating to the surrounding neighborhood than the actual train's horn since it keeps repeating until the train is well clear of the crossing.
Yeah, I'm kind of surprised about it myself. I think the idea is that since the speakers are directed right at the crossing, they can't be heard as far away as standard horns.
Nice Catches! 130 and 161 are currently based in the Washington DC area where I live not to mention that we even have 145 and 157 here as well. I caught 130 in person leading Amtrak 79 about 3 weeks ago and got a little more than a few horn blasts from him.
Amazing video of this. Most of the old railroad lines are still in service. With one of them not, which is shown on the map. The Lakewood Subdivision has a lot of wonderful trains like in every other places.
To me, old coasterfan2105 is nostalgic to me, mostly durango and silverton whistles, santa fe 3751s whistle, and more importantly Georgetown loop railroad 9s whistle. What im trying to say is that you are a great UA-cam channel and you deserve subscribers and im one of your best fan of the channel. Thanks for being a channel, and the best train clips I've ever seen
I know right? That was awesome! Both 130 and 161 are now based in the Washington DC area where I live not to mention that they both have been doing south of DC services ever since. I’ve only caught 130 in person so far but I hope to change that sometime soon especially since we have Phase III unit 145 and Big Game Train unit 157 here as well
My 2 year old is obsessed with trains and we watch your videos every single day! If we can ask if you will be making any more Toy Trains Galores anymore those our favorite 😍 Also have you heard of the Sauqasanna Trains that are here in NJ and if so do you or can you make a video on them 😁🙂 thanks for all your cool videos!!!!
Thanks for the comment! I haven't heard of the Sauqasanna Trains, but I will definitely look into it. I've wanted to do another Toy video too but since I moved a couple years ago, I haven't had the time or space to film one. Hopefully soon.
@@CoasterFan2105 I may be spelling that train wrong🙃 but there're yellow and black...I'd seen them when I was a kid fyi im 39 now so they probably not in business lol. Thanks for the reply!!!
Yes, it happened on the first day of the original opening on the line. After the wreck, they closed the line to Amtrak traffic until PTC was installed, which then had its grand reopening 3 years later.
They are correct, it is called a "Wayside Horn". Basically an electronic speaker on a poll at railroad crossings that plays a recorded "horn" sound rather than having trains use their own horns. It's supposed to reduce noise to neighboring communities.
I wish Amtrak Desert Wind (LAX - SLC - CHI) (discontinued after 1997) comes back and serve Las Vegas NV again as Infrastructure Bill is passed not too long ago. It doesn't have to be all the way to the Chicago but LAX - LAS - SLC will be nice (similar to Amtrak Surfliner San Diego - LAX - Santa Barbara).
This is not related at all to this video and it’s just a random thing that I now can’t stop thinking about. So I’m sure most of you know that there have been British locomotives such as the flying Scotsman that have been to America and went on tours throughout the U.S and Canada. Well has the opposite ever happened? Have American locomotives ever visited Europe/the U.K? Could you just imagine a big boy in London destroying every bridge, tunnel, and pice of track it touches?
66th Street underpass looks awesome! That is a cool scene

10:58 Could someone tell me what that electric horn is? I’ve heard it several times throughout the video and I’m not sure what it is.
That electric horn you hear is at level crossings in Horn free zones. They have speakers that play the horn cadence instead of the train doing it.
@@hanscom0790 okay thanks!
Wayside horns
@@AmtrakandAWVRFan these wayside whistles are just terrible

Many places in the new line seem to be single track also..
A large portion of it is although, there are plans to add a second track to some sections of it in the not too distant future.
4:25 I haven't heard that kind of horn before on the Chargers, is that a new kind of horn they're adding?
Its not new horns, It's just the Wayside horns. If you don't know what it is it's a Quiet zone with Some speakers
Excellent

No I didn't actually
There weren't many when I filmed that shot, but it was quite a bit different last time I went through there.

161 almost looks like 156
That’s bc 161 is the replacement for 156. 156 has been OOS ever since it hit a truck leading the Sunset Limited years ago.
it is the same because 156 was wrecked a few years ago and 161 is a replacement
Yeah, they're very similar.
