Good lord, I drove from one end of Kansas to the other on my trip from Pennsylvania to Colorado in 2011. I was literally calling everyone I knew on my phone to try to keep from going insane. I thought I was going to run out of gas at one point because there were simply no exits for god knows how long. When I finally came to one, the "town" (and it was suggested as such from signs) was an abandoned diner and a gas station. Thank fuck the latter was still open. Lovely people working there though.
