    Videos like this make me so glad to be a subscriber of your YT channel .. watching it caused a sudden urge to go try it myself on my DCS, with an Fw-190A8 maybe .... you have very clear diction, so it was not hard for a non-native english speaker like me, to fully understand your explanations ... only thing I would have added to this flying lesson, is to have the DCS controls overlay enabled, just to have a more clear vision of what your control inputs are ... Thanks a lot for sharing. 😎👌🔥

      Thanks. I was wondering whether to make this one public, DCS is more advanced stuff and this is beginner stuff, but then I thought if it helps the new guys then its worth it.

      I keep forgeting the control overlay 😰, this was intially done for someone as a vudeo to be sent, then I just expanded a bit and made a whole vifeo out of it.

    Are you ever coming back to Flight Sim, I loved those videos.

      Maybe, after I get my new computer in a few weeks (which will have a 4TB SSD drive cause nothing smaller seems to donthe trick these days). It'll be interesting to go into MSFS2020, I havent done it yet, I'll probably get the middle package

      @@FSX404 I wish I could help you. The reason why? Because my old desktop is not powerful enough to run the new FS as it should be run. Hopefully, soon I can buy a new one. In the meantime I'm still flying FSX. Sorry. 😮‍💨

    Do you think that using DCS in VR with a realistic control setup helps improve real-life flying skills?

    • @FSX404
      @FSX404  5 місяців тому

      There is always some question on quality of image since no VR yet can reproduce the screen image. Some like screens, some like VRs. I found the VR to be more realistic at its worse than best screens, but that is my opinion. So for me, nothing comes close to VR, feel wise and control wise. And having subtle control is what makes a pilot better.

      @@FSX404 I think you didn't understand my question. I mean, do you think that DCS can help improve the skills of piloting an airplane in real life? Can DCS be used as a training tool since the flight model is so realistic?

    • @FSX404
      @FSX404  5 місяців тому +1

      @@martinalvarez827 Yes and no. I found simulators to be very useful in training for instrument flights, procedures, etc. But also if done incorrectly a pilot can develop bad habits. So if used correctly sims can further pilot skills, if used incorrectly they can actually harm.
      One specific thing positive I found is that sim pilots can improve thwir instrument approaches.
      One specific bad thing I found is that sim pilots develop a bad habit of looking inside the cockpit too much, unless in IMC, those eyes should be outside 95%+ of the time.

      @@martinalvarez827 as far as flight models realsim, even $50k simulators are not 100% correct. And its not that flight dynamics may be off, its the subtleties of planes, of flying. So to a point yes, the simulators can impove flying skills, as long as one understands that real life flying does have a lot more complexity to it.
      You learn a maneuver in sim, then go in real life and you do it (with a big safety margin) until you understand any differences between doing it in the sim and in real life. Slow speed handling in DCS for example is not usually up to real life standards, example the F-14 in DCS you can roll at 220 kts, if you do that in the real F-14 it will drop on you, see this video link below at the 4min 10sec mark, pilot almost killed himself and rio filming it
