Amazing, I didn't get to watch this live bc I was at Canada Corner for the race as a corner worker. I was disappointed bc I was at turn 3 the day before manning the Blue Flag. Which was one of the coolest days ever for me. Because turn 3 is a 90 at the bottom of a hill the driver's are very concerned that something goes wrong behind them and they'll get rear-ended. So, bc the Blue flag person is facing the traffic, watching all the cars come into the corner, I was taught that the driver's watch the eyes of the flagger as they come into the corner. If the flaggers eyes get really big 😳 something is up behind them. I was sure to stand absolutely still every time they came by. The driver's learn which corners have workers they trust. So for the entire day my ath, Emmo, and I locked eyes as he came into turn 3. Near the end of the day, I gave him a wink and a nod and he did the same back to me. 🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳
It has always been a poor show that Americans are not capable of performing standing starts. This facet is one of the main marks of masterly motorsport.
