You are helping me like vegan meals. Not a vegan yet - I used to be 100 percent meat lover. I am down to 50-50. That is a major change. Thanks

People say they don't have time, but in reality, many are like me and just hate to cook. Planning ahead is key to keeping meals calm! Breakfast is simple, like overnight oats or peanut butter on whole grain toast. Lunch is leftovers from the night before, either re-heated or some things are even better cold.. The only time I actually cook is for dinner, making extra to have for the next day's lunch. While waiting for something to simmer, bake, etc. or while watching TV or videos, I am prepping raw vegetables like onions and peppers, which I keep for a day or two in sealed containers in the fridge. Fresh fruit is always handy for dessert and snacks.

I like how you organized it for yourself! I agree that planning is key for healthy eating because once I starve, I am ready to eat anything and more often that is something not healthy.

great video! easy way for me to make quick meals:
    1. figure out couple of tasty sauces and have them ready
    2. cook grains/beans/potatoes/etc twice a week (or may be three times a week)
    3. have some greens/veggies prewashed and ready to be eaten
when you need a meal just mix everything=)

I make your sauces (usually the tahini one with wasabi or Sriracha added!) in bulk (usually ~ a quart's worth!) so I can always have something to top my veggies, etc. They totally make the dishes! Having that always available has been a game-changer!

I watched this video this morning and you inspired me to buy and try the vegan sausage. I was sooo hungry after Pilates class and needed something fast so I cooked up some sausage. I didn’t have the bread so I decided to make a bowl with seeds of change quinoa and brown rice, wilted some spinach and garlic (quick and easy) cut up my veggies and done.

  • @78cheerio

I like this video. I never knew the stores had the chickpea sauce pouch. I didn’t know the sausage had so much protein. I’m always looking for protein without using shake powder. When I’m in a hurry I will also use more pouch and jar sauces, but try to keep, the food as whole. It’s great to,have some quick meals for when I get home hungry.

This is awesome, but a good reminder that you can have anything, but you can't have everything. Here, you get time- kudos on making these so fast! But it does require a lot more pre-packaged, therefore more expensive ingredients (obviously still way cheaper than take out/going out). I definitely stick to my budget friendly rice/beans lunches. They take a while to cook up, but if I divide that time over the week, still under 10 minutes :).
I also love that you're showing realistic amounts of food for high protein. It drives me crazy when people sprinkle some chick peas on top of a stir fry "for protein" on high protein vegan videos.

Thanks!! I'm 98.9% Vegan...occasionally, I'll splurge for Tim Horton's Double Double, but trying to get away from the sugar content...so I only do it twice a week. Also turned 55 last year and I signed up recently with a local gym to learn Muay Thai. Your ez quick meals are a great idea. I don't mind cooking stuff, but when it comes to simple ideas...it is really difficult for me to think about stuff that has less than 3 ingredients! I'm definitely going to try some of your ideas!

Thank you for the quick meal demos. My husband & I prep a weekly salad every Sunday consisting of napa cabbage, red or yellow bell peppers, zucchini, red onion, celery, broccoli, and arugula. Since it's so large we clean & sanitize our stainless steel sink to have enough room to toss it. We add 3 tablespoons of granulated garlic & about 3 tablespoons of lemon juice. Completed it fills 2 14 cup Rubbermaid containers lined with paper towels to wick up the excess moisture, thus keeping the salad fresher throughout the week. My lunch & dinner are the same. Pre cooked potatoes (6-8oz) 0.5 oz raw walnuts, 2 oz cooked unsalted black beans, 1 tablespoon ground flax meal topped with Mary McDougall's Golden Gravy then heated in microwave. Dinner contains the same ingredients, but I use a vegan Ranch dressing. Oh so yummy & takes no time to throw together because the salad was pre-made on Sunday (about 1.5 hours total time for set up, chopping & clean up).

I feel if you follow microwave rice instructions it comes out way better then just using plate. Try next time
Squeeze the pouch so that the product is evenly distributed. Tear the top corner open slightly and place the product on a microwavable plate. Microwave on full power.
Leave for 1 minute. Remove the pouch from microwave and tear/cut off the top of the pack. Fluff up gently with a fork before serving.
Take care when opening the pouch as hot steam will escape.

Anyway here’s how you fry a perfect steak:
    Ingredients
    2 tbsp. canola oil
Boneless ribeye steak, preferably 1 1/2"-thick
    Kosher salt
    Freshly ground black pepper
    2 tbsp. butter
    Directions
    Step 1
Salt steak and rest for 45 minutes.
    Step 2
In a medium skillet over medium-high heat, heat oil. Season steak with pepper on both sides. When oil is just about to smoke, add steak. Cook 7 minutes, then flip and add butter. Baste with butter and cook another 5 minutes or until internal temperature reaches 140°, for medium.
    Step 3
Remove from pan and let rest 5 minutes before cutting.

Thanks Derek, I love your videos and quick delicious nutritious meals. They inspire me. But I find the tahini I've had in New Zealand very dry in the mouth. Is that the case for you guys over there, or are there different types, do you know?

I just found your channel a few days ago and have been binge watching. Did I miss the protein content for the final meal?

Just wondering if you could share the brand of tahini, I’ve notice your actual will pour out of your container, while mine is quite thick. I’m liking your recipes for your different dressings. Thanks for sharing very appreciated. 👍❤️😊
