- If you had unprotected sex with a partner whose HIV status is not known there are three types of test which will determine if you have been infected and the accuracy of these tests depends on how much time has been passed since the exposure. Broadly there are three types of test. The first group of tests are antibody tests. The body takes approximately three to six weeks to make enough antibody that can be detected by the HIV antibody test. So if you had exposure to a partner six weeks previously and you get an antibody test such as the ELISA test and it is negative, it is extremely highly likely that you have not been infected. The second type of test is a combination antigen-antibody test i.e. the fourth generation test. These tests not only detects antibodies made by the human body against the HIV virus but also antigens which are parts of the virus itself. These tests become positive earlier in case of true infection. So a combination test or a fourth generation antigen-antibody test will become positive as early as two to four weeks after infection. So if you had unprotected sex with a partner whose status is not known and say this test has been done 4 weeks after exposure and is negative the chances that you have been infected is extremely low. The third type of test is called the nucleic acid amplification test or PCR test. This is called the viral load test. This is the first test or the test that becomes positive that detects infection the earliest. So in case you have been exposed to a partner whose status is unknown and you do this test PCR test 10 days after exposure and this is negative the chances that you are truly negative the chances that you have not been infected are very high.

Do an RNA test this is for ur mind peace
for sure ur not infected with HIV

I had taken following hiv tests for exposure:
42 days(cmia)=negative
83 days(cmia)=negative
91 days(elisa)=negative
is these tests are conclusive enough ?
or should I take restest after 6 months?
Yes,to conclude 100% , follow up should be with an ictc regular antibody test from any centres

@@vikramsingh-xw4os i think that conclusive. But we should retest again after three months although the test showed us we have a good indication. But beware of hypochondriasis and obsession because they caused diseases. I had all symptoms of hiv because of obsession and hypochondriasis of hiv persisted two months.
