As a teenager I missed at least 8 weeks of school. It was a full holiday trimester I spent with mono. I was diagnosed at an emergency room and was told I likely got it from one of three of my restaurant jobs from sharing drinking cups. My throat swelled so much I could barely drink liquids. I slept for 8 weeks getting up every 24 hrs to bathe and go back to bed. I had a white gooey blanket in my throat and tongue. No med, just rest and fluids. Fever, headache and Every muscle of my body was screaming. Lost 20 pounds but was too tired to care. The thing is I never really recovered fully. I was going to school and night school, working 3 partime jobs before mono. After recovery I never regained my energy and stamina. I could only do day school and never did go back to work during high school. The Fatigue never really went away. Then was later diagnosed with celiac disease and fibro about early 30's. Having mono was a very pivotal time in my life. I was used to doing sport practices, working, schooling and babysitting, but after mono it all changed. no more sports or working. Just activity that was priority, like getting enough credits to graduate. There was no energy for socializing.

@@TheBashar16 Yeah it took 3 weeks to get better. After that I felt weak for about a month. I also lost ten pounds from all the coughing and spitting up.
I got it at about age 7 from my babysitter. It was so bad, that I was sick the entire summer vacation from school, I finally felt a little better and my dad took me to a toy store to pick out a birthday gift and then I had a relapse. Not sure how much longer I was out. I slept like 23 hr and 45 minutes a day. Got up to eat a little soup and go to the restroom. Had a sickly life since... had all kinds of "diseases" Fibromyalgia and chronic fatigue. Now being worked up for a possible lymphoma with an oncologist. Oh yes and now in kidney failure. I truly don't feel like I will be around very much longer. Also interestingly I read the Medical Medium book and it was like reading my life story of illness from this darned EBV! It has settled in my thyroid so that probably had a hand in my kidneys going south as it is a hyperthyroid so it's like being on too much coffee and high blood pressure. I am more exhausted than I was as a child now but am the sole caregiver to my hubby who has dementia and strokes. His family is very quickly trying to get him placed somewhere as I can't take care of him much longer. This is such an insidious disease!
Are you on Medical Medium protocols? I started 4 months ago and it helps me to feel better but still have some symptoms keeping on going and coming back. It is very difficult to live with. Now, I am going to add some complements that I just bought for reducing the viral charge and hopefully this annoying EBV will get back to silence... Good luck to you!

@@shfo875 no, the burning in my throat was my first symptom of mono and now it’s 4 months later and the mono has affected my sensory nerves in my throat and I still get voice fatigue, burning and off and on hoarseness. I have no throat cancer, I’ve been scoped so I wanted to make this clear.
I have CAEBV so I feel like this all the time. 4 lymph removed and 11 years later, they finally tested me for this. No dr could figure it out (except my oncologist) after 12 years.

Reactivation is NOT rare. Ask me how I know. If we don't come to grips with what Epstein Barr is capable of once you have an auto immune or some other condition making you less than tip top, we can't move forward with finding better treatments.
I am 31 years old and got diagnosed yesterday. I feel like I got hit by a train. The fatigue is like nothing I’ve experienced before. Moving around feels like a lot of effort and my limbs just feel achy and heavy. I assume this to be normal for acute mono? I’m usually fairly healthy and used to rarely get sick. I am struggling with this a bit.

At age 21 while in college I became sick with a cold virus. I got over the cold but experienced lasting fatigue. So much so that I had to find ladies rooms on campus that had cots so I could lie down after a class or two. This went on for 3 months!
I’ve had mononucleosis twice. Once as a teen, again around age 38. I live with constant muscular /joint pain & swollen lymph nodes. Have developed issues with moderate to severe environmental allergies over time & now am on immunotherapy. Am always tired. Was never officially diagnosed with EBV but am highly suspicious that I carry it. I have several weeks out if the year where I’m more symptomatic & it usually takes weeks to recover. But I’m never fully recovered. I suffer with fatigue often. I always have elevated ANA levels. I start seeing a rheumatologist soon to explore a possible rheumatoid arthritis & have had a positive juxtaarticular osteoporosis. I think it’s all because if mononucleosis.
This might sound silly but was at a pool party and I drank from my next door neighbors water bottle ... I actually grabbed the wrong bottle... I only drink twice... that's her daily water bottle... she does have Epstein-Barr.... Can I have gotten it through the water bottle?
Very much doubt it. Epstein Barr is formed as an immune system reaction to solvents, like the on in lipstick, so you shouldn't worry. Just don't kiss anyone who's wearing lipstick.
So is there a possibility that we all had it once in our life without knowing if we ever acquired it? Can we get it again ? & the enlarged spleen and liver resolves on its own ?

I believe I caught mono at a party. I'm 76 years old. In April 2024, I started to feel tired, and had an imperceptible twitch in the corner of my lower right lip, only once in a while. My daughter started to get nearly the same symptoms, except for the twitching, but even worse since she is immune compromised. She confronted me and told me that she caught herpes IV from me. I didn't know what she was talking about. She then explained that I caught mono from one of the women at the party, probably from a woman who talks loud and could have accidentally spat in my drink. After hearing that, I told my friend that, according to my daughter, I had EBV. She then answered that Marie-Jo, the loud woman who sat next to me, had it and passed it on to her daughter and probably to me. All women in my party were vaccinated. I'm not. I believe that Covid vaccine and perhaps those who caught Covid have opened the door to that horrible dormant disease. I had a test and my doctor told me it was negative in spite of being constantly tired. The only moment I'm revived it's when I work in my garden. How weird.
@@saschaesken5524 I don't know what you mean by "40 years too late." However, I can tell you that during my time there were not all those diseases we have now. I recovered from mono after five months. I bought a book on EBV. The book wrote that on the average mono last 16 months. It could last anything from six months to 38 years! I believe my daughter and I never had it except in March 2024. EBV will cause a large panoply of various cancers in the future. This is troublesome. We are going to witness for the next ten years turbo cancers caused by various mRNA vaccines resuscitating EBV virus. I'm glad, I'm 76 now. I wouldn't want to be young again not the way things are going now.
My son got sick a couple weeks ago. Was mild and only missed a day of school. He developed a lump in the submandibular area of his throat and doctor thought it was from previous virus. After a couple of weeks the lump is still there and he started getting fevers and hives. Doctor did blood test and it came back positive but now we have to go get blood work for the lump. Is it possible the lump developed weeks before the rest of the symptoms with mono?
I’m 12 and I am also going through this. I had swollen lymph nodes for a pretty long time and doctors confirmed I had EBV, but I had no other symptoms except for my swollen lymph nodes. How is your son doing?
When i was 14 years old, i had strep throat, they gave me amoxicillin and my body broke out in hives everywhere. This is how I found out I had mono, I believe I contracted it from a childhood friend who unfortunately had very poor living conditions and my young self did not think to ask my friend to wash her cups and utensils before giving them to me. Now that I am 21 years old, i'm just now finding out mono is a type of HSV. I've been in almost a 2 year relationship and have disclosed my mono diagnosis as a kid, but ever since that initial reaction to the amoxicillin i've never had any issues besides the lifelong fatigue. I'm assuming my partner doesn't know it's a type of HSV, what's the best way to talk about this situation? Great video by the way!!!

@@elliecox381 Yeah. Your right. I'll go to the docs Monday. Just got to get through weekend. Hey thanks for replying Ellie.😊 Big respect x
Just got this virus when I've been in my room, and homeschooled for the past year. Crazy
It is a dormant virus
@IStella Sadly, yeah. It was the worst thing I've ever had. But I'm better now. It lasted 3 weeks and after that I was weak for about a month.
@@TheEliteBeats do you have any fatigue issues or muscle pains after sickness and if yes when did they gone away??
@@TheBashar16 Yeah it took 3 weeks to get better. After that I felt weak for about a month. I also lost ten pounds from all the coughing and spitting up.
@@TheEliteBeats wish you a strong recovery man. Did you have any lymph nodes in neck and also in groin btw??
Your story is sad. I wish you the best.
Any suggestions for swollen lymph nodes and tonsils after 6 weeks?
i can’t tell if i got tonsil stones or this? i also smoke a lot of weed and i just kind of stopped so i am feeling effects of that but mainly just feels like tonsil stones and they have been recurring almost my home life. thank you
tested positive today and for the past week it has felt like razor blades in my throat
Any updates?
If you have the money I would get a water pick if you regularly get tonsil stones
I had tonsil stones from age 15-23. Had tonsils removed at age 23.
I just tested POSITIVE w/ MONO…..I thought I had throat cancer before the blood test came back, that is how bad my throat was/is burning and last for about 4-weeks. I wouldn’t wish this on my worst enemy.
Same...
Did the lump in your throat come before the rest of the mono symptoms?
@@shfo875 no, the burning in my throat was my first symptom of mono and now it’s 4 months later and the mono has affected my sensory nerves in my throat and I still get voice fatigue, burning and off and on hoarseness. I have no throat cancer, I’ve been scoped so I wanted to make this clear.
I have CAEBV so I feel like this all the time. 4 lymph removed and 11 years later, they finally tested me for this. No dr could figure it out (except my oncologist) after 12 years.
did you get any medication?
I actually had EBV with the tonsilitis, enlarged occipital lymph nodes, tonsillitis, and became jaundice. I wound up with liver failure.
Just wondering how many people on here that acquired mono recently also got the new shot??

I am 31 years old and got diagnosed yesterday. I feel like I got hit by a train. The fatigue is like nothing I’ve experienced before. Moving around feels like a lot of effort and my limbs just feel achy and heavy. I assume this to be normal for acute mono? I’m usually fairly healthy and used to rarely get sick. I am struggling with this a bit.
How long does it last your symtomps?

At age 21 while in college I became sick with a cold virus. I got over the cold but experienced lasting fatigue. So much so that I had to find ladies rooms on campus that had cots so I could lie down after a class or two. This went on for 3 months!
Who’s here to try and see if you have mononucleosis? Same ✋
EBV-related diseases👍
Infectious mononucleosis.
Hodgkin's lymphoma.
Non-Hodgkin lymphoma.
Burkitt's lymphoma.
Post-transplant lymphoproliferative disease.
Nasopharyngeal carcinoma.
Add lupus to related diseases
add CNS diseases.
I think it’s all because if mononucleosis.

once you have it you have it.. it does not just go away
If you've had mono, you definitely have EBV, that's what causes it.
Blood test
You should avoid all solvents, since all those problems, and EBV, can be due to solvents, including in make-up, lotions, and Round-up.
If She is in acute phase then yes its possible but its much more rare than normal transmissions. Hope you are feeling well. Cheers.
No my roommate once I just got it drink from it but he didn’t catch any
So is there a possibility that we all had it once in our life without knowing if we ever acquired it?

How weird.
76 already.
Im 40 years too late
@@LaFanfanTulipe why did you have the " safe and effective" ?
@@saschaesken5524 No way. I was barely vaccinated when I was a child and didn't believe in this covid-19 vaccine mRNA crap.
My son also same
When i was 14 years old, i had strep throat, they gave me amoxicillin and my body broke out in hives everywhere.
