Thanks again man - great content as always ;) same issue here, went through "Pro" repairs and GPU was cooked, this solution fixed the issue and machine is up and running!!!
You help me a lot with U8900 on 820-3332 .. mac starting but no image. GPU reballing with no result... And simple touch up U8900 chip is solve a problem! THANKS MAN!

I have a 820-3787 which was working, but would randomly shut off. then one day, shut off and wouldn't turn back on. Green light turns to orange on charger after plugged in for 2seconds. Bench power supply shows board only drawing 0.025amps (25ma)... I've been checking and can find 3v, 5v and 12v in various places around my board. I don't see anything heating up on my thermal camera. IDK where to go from here... Any pointers? No display, No Fan spin, No sound, opt, control, R and power (i think that was the key combo) cause the power light to switch back to green, then goes orange again. Board pulled from system. Removed SSD, Wifi, and Battery. 80W Charger and Bench Supply.. Same results.
Hello, thanks 😊, it worked but then the MacBook is giving video only when I have connected it to the charger, but after it shows video I can unconnect and the MacBook will work perfectly without charger, so what do you think is the problem? MacBook Pro 15” early 2013
@@applepietech can you pin point the difference between this model and the 820-3738 i have to make the modifications to a client of mine macbook Thanks ;D
Hi, first I want to congratulate you for your work and good explanation. I have a question regarding what you did. Regarding the dedicated GPU, does it stop receiving voltage, that is, if I touch it does not raise temperature? Thanks, I hope you still see the comments on this video or if anyone here knows the answer thanks too. I forgot my motherboard is 820-3071-A. Does what you did work on this model?
@@applepietech My friend, but I did not see if it worked correctly on the keyboard to raise brightness and lower the brightness on the screen .. ?? if it worked? .. Thank you .
Hi man again, just wondering would it be possible to do something similar to A1990 - have one here where PPBus_HS_GPU was shorted and burned internally through several layers, was able to remove short to get customers data however no video internally and externally. Its a QA300 area that is destroyed now :( other than that machine turns on, chimes, Touch Bar and keyboard backlit comes on after password is typed in, sadly no use at all ATM. Cheers man
hello how are i made this happen everything is ok but some time i have picture and backlight sometime i have only the backlight the screen is without picture remins black u turn off i tur on after 5 minutes picture come. any idea?
Maybe not since it’s responsible for the vcore of the dGPU which is getting disabled anyway. However before trying this fix try reflowing/reballing VRAM. I fixed coupe boards with these symptoms by reballing vram since I made this video.
MY ISSUE IS A SHORT ON PPVIN_S5_HS_GPU_ISNS. I REMOVED Q8930 BUT THE SHORT REMAINS SO I REMOVED R5410. I WIRED IT BY YOUR INSTRUCTIONS BUT THE SYSTEM REBOOTS OVER AND OVER AND THE SCREEN POWERS UP EACH TIME FOR A FEW SECONDS
@@keithchatman4225 find a short on that line. do visual inspection or inject voltage. It might be just a shorted capacitor that needs to be replaced and not the dGPU altogether

great video. quick question, will this work on a 820-3787?
No. It's a different model.
Works perfectly, for future research, here is the report of someone who made the bypass in the model mentioned above 820-3787

Hello,
Does it work with Macbook Pro retina Mid 2012 MC975?
Thank you!
Yes. However please try resoldering U8900 chip / reflowing VRAM first. It might fix the issue without disabling the dGPU
Thats a great guide, however i would also try to swap gddr first :)
Absolutely

You need to read description under this video. You problem is bad solder joints on U8900 chip, nvidia chip is fine and you should not have done this
This thing comes straight from Matrix
