Stupendous job. Really helpful. My only hitch was that keyboard connector. Had to re-seat it several times, even using some scotch tape to replicate the original sticker. All good now. Thank you so much. Subscribed.
2 Things I did differently was not bother removing the plastic antenna wire guide as it doesn't need to be removed to get the board out, but I did remove the 2 screws holding on the magsafe as it's easier (and safer) to completely remove the motherboard that way. It also gives you a chance to clean the magsafe connector.
Thank you so much for this, my daughter and I were able to do this without issues. Tips: watch the *entire* video before you start so that you make sure all cables are reconnected (the author forgets one on the upper mid/right side when reassembling), keep track of your parts and especially screws, and install the second speaker *before* reattaching the motherboard so you can tuck the cable underneath it). The wifi cables are flimsy to reattach, have patience. We also took the extra step of cleaning the fans thoroughly. Everything works very well after reassembly, thank you!
I took a picture of my opened mac and fastened it to a piece of cardboard. When I removed a screw I would puncture the location and insert the screw. Watching this video along with purchasing the suggested tools made this repair easy. Thanks!!
Man, you made this fairly complicated repair look like it's doable - even for an amateur. So I did. And it WORKED :-) Very detailed explanation. Thank you very much for this video.
Hi UG, good day. Finally I can replace a pair speaker with the help of your great video. Not only the cheapest solution but also I can avoid the cheating repair shops in the the market which I’ve experienced before. Paid $125 but spoiled again just a month later and no warranty anymore.
GREAT INSTRUCTIONAL VIDEO. Good detail on the steps. Was able to replace the speakers on my wife's Macbook Pro A1398. The mess up I did (not the fault of the video) was breaking pins on the (actual right, left as you look at the components) from the motherboard, so the one speaker does not work. Happily everything else works after getting it back together. Suggestion for people doing this repair. This was my first work in a Macbook. Had done upgrades previously on PC's and Mac G-3. I noted the time of the video when screws removed, labeled each individually. That really helped when I was re-assembling. Also noted when in video each cable was disconnected. Small bags for the screws or plenty of room on a work bench is needed. The plastic work tool is also needed. If not an actual tool, a tupperware orange peeler can work as well. OF COURSE, Back Up your computer BEFORE you start your work, just in case. Also, suggest watching the video all the way through before you start, so you see how much is involved. Have another computer to watch as you do the work, stop at each screw, cable, etc. and take notes as suggested. This will help you get the correct screw back in the correct spot for each component. Apple has engineered a great product, but with three different screws for the fans as an example, you need to be patient and detailed. This repair took me about 6 hours total from first screw out to power up, so allow enough time, take your time, don't be in a hurry, and learn from my mistake, slide the cables onto the pins with care. Good luck to all. Thanks to UberGeeks for posting this video. Well Done.
I recently bought a MacBook Pro 2013 that needed a new speaker, so I followed your video and it was a SUCCESS!!!! Thanks for much for your thorough and great video!
Thanks man, my dad watched the video, and follow you step by step, even though he doesn’t know English, he can still replace both speaker within two hours!!!! Really appreciate for your help!!!!! Thanks soooooo much
Great Video!!! I changed the speakers on my Macbook A1417, different model but almost identical inside. Step by Step tutorial was fantastic. My only human error was when I tested the speakers, on the highest volume they were very low. I removed back and wiggled connectors while audio was playing and found both speaker connections weren't secure. I disconnected and reconnected. Macbook is like New again!!! Thank You!!!
Thank you, very much for this video! It saved my day! Having said that, this is a complicated operation! The connectors are very small and it’s easy to break stuff if you are not super careful. I actually snapped one of the connectors on the wifi board and had to soulder it back. My blood pressure was through the roof by the time I finished putting it back together, and I had a sigh of relief when the laptop turned on and everything was working. I would not want to do it again!
Thanks! That just saved me about £70. I’m new to this and it hard (especially putting the wifi wires back on), but you guided me through it, great job!
Excellent run through. It took me 3 times as long as you but i got it done ... pretty stressful. I had a really hard time with the keyboard ribbon. I was never able to flip up the retainer and ended up completing the job without disconnecting it. Thank you very much!
Super big thanks to this video. I suggest to watch carefully and practice virtually side by side. Plan the location that you are going to place the screws that's just been taken out of the board. I almost miss one screw and hate myself.
Thank you so so much for the great tutorial, I replaced my wife's speakers successfully, you were very informative and we are happy the speakers work properly now. You're a legend.
You forgot the connection on the right fan on the right side of the fan when you put it back together. But your video saved my butt today replacing my wife's blown speakers. Thank you
Excellent video! I was able to replace my speakers with this one. Honestly don't think I could have done it without. When everything was in pieces on my desk, I had my doubts, but all worked in the end. Thank you!
Excellent video very easy to follow. Worth stating at the beginning that if you only want to change the right hand speaker you do not need to do the full strip down that you have to do to change the left hand speaker.
At first I dared not open it for fear it would be corrupted in my computer device. But after I watched the video tutorial and turned on the 4k mode to see more clearly I feel I have successfully done it for more than 2 hours. Thanks a lot
Fantastic! A really clear well explained video. You helped me change my speakers, clean out general dust and change my thermal paste on my CPU and GPU. I now have nearly double the FPS and the system is running a fair bit cooler. Thank you =D It's not often I'd need such a video but I have subscribed.
“If you break the wifi cable you need to replace the entire screen.” Thanks for that! Nope im not doing this myself taking it to a repair guy lol Great job!!
Great tutorial. I ended up breaking that clamp for wi-fi wires, but I think I could glue it with superglue. It didn't break when I reattached it. I had generic repair speakers (they don't have that qr code as the original ones, nor have the same finish), but work great.
Thank you so much !! this video was a life saver for me, I could not have replaced my speaker without this. One of speaker works fine, the other one volume is super low. I checked settings but it looks normal. not sure if my connection got lose or something. Anyways, awesome tutorial!
Thanks a lot friend. My A1398 has some minor differences, but thanks to your video something that I think would be mission impossible, I was able to do it. Excellent video !!!
Thanks man, followed your video and could replace both speakers by my own. You forgot to plug the last right connector, but I think you figured out about it later. Thanks! I just forgot to put one screw (but no problem :D)
Outstanding Video!!!! I’ve had to do a couple of replacements, and this step by step video makes it very simple if a person just takes your time and follow every step he outlines. Thank you so much!!!
thank you for this video. not sure if you saw that the small cable on the right side was not connected.. its next to the usb. otherwise, perfect video. thx so much
Great video...two things...one you didn't indicate what style and size bit to use (penalobe, 1.5) and that the screws take a little force the first time because they have a small bit of some type of loctite on them. The first couple scared me a little bit, thought I might strip them. Easy to follow instructions, others I watched were no where near as detailed. Thanks.
Thank you for this video. I repaired the speakers for this model a while back but forgot the steps. Its a good model but to change the simple speakers you need to do heart surgery...
I did this, old speakers were broken, only left one worked. Now after changing to new ones again only left works but with even worse sound quality :D Can recommend 5/5!
What a great video man!! You make me look like a pro technician! Thank you so much!! You forgot to connect a cable min 8:24 I hope that’s not important 😅
Damn that's deep level surgery for a novice like me to attempt. I think I'll let my speaker buzz away for now. P.S. Excellent video, this is top level Youtubing!
i did this yesterday. my takes are: 1. do keep track of screws. they are in different size and you will forget if you dont. 2. if you dont need to change termal paste, then do not remove the copper tubes from motherboard. i renewed the thermal paste and my macbook is doing much better. 3. expect a lot of dust. i mean a lot. you need to clean it with a fine brush.
Hi. Accidentally tore the cable you mention at 5.44. What is that cable ? I have no clue and I need to replace it. Many thanks in advance. Great video btw.
Just finished the speaker swap! Seeing the tiny connectors was the hardest part! I noticed that one of the ribbon cables was left under the motherboard when you were reattaching it (Keyboard backlight maybe?). I almost made the exact same mistake!
Quick question- after replacing the new speakers, my laptop wouldn’t turn on for a few hours. After backtracking the steps, I’ve noticed if I pressed down the I/O board flex cable (connectors) then it wouldn’t work (cpu fan doesn’t move). But if I take off one end of the cable or ever so lightly press it down without clicking all the way, laptop starts working again. The problem now is every few hours my laptop shuts down completely and I have to “reposition” the flex cable for my laptop to start again. Do you know why this happens and what I can do to fix if? Everything was working perfectly ok before I replaced speakers. Thanks!
Thank you for this video. I managed and everything is working nice, but I couldn't reconnect the very little small silver connection left of the middel on the top, it just doesn't fit anymore. What is it?
EXCELLENT VIDEO, BUT BE CAREFUL: DON'T PINCH THE WIFI CABLES UNDER THE MOTHER BOARD! When screwing the motherboard back down, I initially pinched one of the 3 WIFI cables, cutting the black insulation and exposing metal. These are actually tiny coaxial cables so I could have easily shorted the central signal wire to the shield. Even just a bad bend or kink would create reflections in the cable, potentially screwing up the high-frequency WIFI signals. That's why there is a plastic insert under the WIFI cables to control the curvature of these critical wires. As explained at the very end of the video (which I did not preview carefully enough) if the WIFI cables are damaged, you have to replace the display. I admit I was very worried, but my WIFI still works, so I didn't do too much damage to the WIFI cable. This video was great, very highly detailed. It took me 2.5 hours total, being careful (but not careful enough!). Note that the video was shot on a previously-fixed MacBook. It takes a bit longer the first time, since some cables and plastic shrouds are glued down and stuff like that. I printed out a screen shot to put all the screws and parts on, since I've had screws left over doing similar repairs which is always annoying. I did not wear gloves, which might be a good idea to prevent getting hand oil on all the electrical contacts, which could corrode them over time. I did keep grounding myself to the metal case before touching anything, which is especially important in low-humidity where static can build up. I replaced only the bad rattling (left) speaker, which was so bad I had turned it off with settings->sounds-balance. After putting balance back to the middle, sound is great, and I am very happy with the results.
Stupendous job. Really helpful. My only hitch was that keyboard connector. Had to re-seat it several times, even using some scotch tape to replicate the original sticker. All good now. Thank you so much. Subscribed.

Thank you for your comment. Yes, I missed the top right flex cable. I'm glad it worked out for you.

A very complete video - makes me confident in being able to replace the speakers.
Thank you
Thanks! That just saved me about £70. I’m new to this and it hard (especially putting the wifi wires back on), but you guided me through it, great job!

Awesome explanation of fixing speakers. I following the exact same steps and replaced the speakers of my Mac Pro. Thanks mate.
Super big thanks to this video. I suggest to watch carefully and practice virtually side by side. Plan the location that you are going to place the screws that's just been taken out of the board. I almost miss one screw and hate myself.
Thanks man! Because of this video I was able to replace both speakers successfully. You explain everything well which made this task very doable.
You are welcome. Glad it helped.
Very appreciated your video! I had successfully replaced my broken left speaker and cleaned cpu fan with ZERO Issue!

Excellent video. The wifi cables had a hard time re-seating but I got them down. But I still don't have any wifi.
Amazing Job !!!!!! Congrats ! Your English is also so clear and easy to understand. Many thanks ...

Really good video ❤thanks
The best tutorial on the subject. Thanks!
You are welcome
Absolute legend ❤️❤️❤️🇯🇲
Thank you !
i did this yesterday. my takes are:
1. do keep track of screws. they are in different size and you will forget if you dont.
2. if you dont need to change termal paste, then do not remove the copper tubes from motherboard. i renewed the thermal paste and my macbook is doing much better.
3. expect a lot of dust. i mean a lot. you need to clean it with a fine brush.
Thank you SOOOOOOOOO MUCH! I REALLY appreciate you!!
You are welcome. Glad the video helped
Thanks bro! Helped me a lot
Very helpful instruction. Thanks a lot!
You're welcome!
Just changed the speakers and battery, thank you for the great tutorial. Made it easy.

Super... I was able to fix my broken speakers.. thank you 🙏
You are welcome.
I DID IT!!!! Thank you so much you are a blessing!
You are welcome
I made the mistake forgetting the top backlight cable under the logic board! Man what a pain to redo!
Great job... thank you. Everything was fine
Glad it helped!
Excellent demo! Well done!
Glad you liked it!
Are all of the internal screws the same size? Just wondering if there is the possibility of switching the wrong screws anywhere?
You are the best! I successfully replaced my speakers thanks to you :)
You are welcome
thank you very much, everything works fine, thumbs up !!!
HAhaha... I went back after to correct it. Microphone ? lol Not the keyboard backlight
This was super helpful, thank you!!!
Thank you for this video. I managed and everything is working nice, but I couldn't reconnect the very little small silver connection left of the middel on the top, it just doesn't fit anymore. What is it?
Great tutorial. Do you have a video about reapplying thermal paste on the cpu? Thank you.
No I do not. But pretty much you just need to remove 4 screws and the heatsink. Use alcohol wipes and apply new thermal paste. amzn.to/3AOitGU
Dear you are grate and thank you for the tutorial
You are welcome
It worked!Thank you for such a clear introduction, very useful👍😊
Glad it helped!
Thanks man! Very helpful.
No problem!
You are welcome. Glad the video helped.
Thanks so much! Works Perfectly!
You are welcome. Glad the video helped.
Well done! You’ve helped me a lot!
Be carefull! You forgot the cable of 8:23, that you point on 10:39 too! You must conect before install the right fan. Thanks for the tutorial
Thanks again for reminding others
Thanks for the details tutorial dude :)
