I've only had my budgie since Saturday and he just got out of his cage. Really hope he will go back in on his own. I dont want to lose his trust by trying to catch him
Hi I have an Indian ring neck and the trust process with millet is going good so far my fingers are now very close to him when I feed him now. but he bit my finger hard but not with aggression but with curiosity. What should I do? Thanks 😊
Today I let one of my two budgie outside the cage using seduction method but after it got outside, it tried to go inside the cage but couldn't figured out the entrance. For one hour I tried to lure it to the entrance using all possible methods but it didn't work out. The budgie wasn't trusting me bc I tricked it to go out of the cage. It was profusely knawing the grills on top of the cage like trying to break inside while staring at the other budgies which was inside. I showed him the grass but whenever I placed it near the entrance, it stepped back (thinking I might trick him again) I was getting tired. Then my brother smhw managed to cage it again by slowly tempting it with a grass for about 10 mins. Reminder : A 3-4 months old budgie isn't smart enough to know where the entrance is.
I used a perch to get mine back in his cage. Using a perch can also help them learn how to sit on your finger, they know to sit on a perch so if you hold a dowel perch up like you would with your finger, it will learn that that’s what it’s supposed to do when you hold your finger up instead.
I happily never had this problem with my birb. He always liked his cage and he only wouldnt go back in when i release it and didnt wait 20mins. he would just go in anytime.
I have a outdoor Aviary for 3 budgies. Every 2-3 weeks we clean the cage so we have to get them out. I’m not very close to them, well I only gain back a bit of trust every 2 weeks. I have to get them into a smaller cage, this smaller cage is always in the aviary but they don’t like it, no matter how much treats and food I put in the cage they won’t go in so I have to chase them onto a perch and shoo them into the cage. I always lose trust because I keep chasing them. I also have to get them in because Australian summers are hot, sometimes if I’m lucky they sleep on perches and I can slightly push them in when they are dazed. Any suggestions how to get them in without losing their trust
So I have a couple new budgies and have had issues getting them in their cage. I tried all these methods with no success. The only way I can get them back in is by hanging some millet outside the door of a small cage and holding it up near them and can then transfer them to their main cage. Is this a good method? Or is this going to hurt when it comes to their trust?
There are no perfect names. Pick something from your heart. Do you have a favorite movie, person or just the first name that comes to mind. A name should fit your birds personality too. ik your comment was a year ago but just make sure the door to the room is closed and the room is tidy. I also recommend closing any blinds or curtains so your bird doesn't fly into the window before they have learned not to. the first time letting them out is always chaotic. when my bird was untrained, I used the time for bed method and it worked so well. they went straight back into the cage in a few seconds. hope you still fine this useful after a year!
The time to sleep method didn't work for us. Our budgie slept outside of her cage all night in a safe place. I cleaned up after her in the morning and finally got her back in, and the seduction method didn't work either. We are working on taming more now.
My parents recently got a new female budgie(named ana) and she really likes my male(named buddy) but buddy doesnt like her back and he is very aggresive towards her. But whenever buddy starts flying around or is out of her sight ana will start calling for him and rubbing her head against the cage trying to get out and going under random small spaces and shes loosing alot of feathers from it. my parents wont let me move her away because theres no other place to put her cage(buddy and ana are in 2 different cages and if they are in the same cage buddy will attack her) and since shes new she cant stay outside. im scared shes gonna die because were poor and have little money so we cant afford a vet to ask them. I know this isnt related to the video but i really need some answers my parents didnt ask for permission they just got her and now shes living a miserable life unless i figure something out ANYBODY PLEASE HELP
my budgie comes out everyday. Her cage isn't that big so everyday I open the door and leave it open for her, so when she's ready and done eating she will climb out and just climb onto the roof of the cage, fly around my room a bit just to stretch her wings, then goes back onto the cage. I used to get my family to grab her and put her back in but it annoyed her so we stopped, and eventually she started getting in herself! Now everyday she comes out, flies, and then climbs in herself. But if I need her to go back in, I use a stick and put it up to her legs and she will perch onto it, then i put the stick into the cage
Nice video with great tips. Luckely all our birds know when it's time to sleep and go by themself in their cages to sleep. They also know that on Saturdays they're allowed to stay up longer, if they want to. Smart birds😁. But it's always good to know what to do if not😉
I just got mine and turned the fan off and let them out, they are both laughing at me on top of the fan, I don't wanna grab them since they don't trust me yet
dude you don’t even know. My dad impulse bought two budgies and ofc I have to be the one to research to take care of them. So I was trying to train them to step up but my brother kept wants to train with it too. Keep in mind this was day two of training. Eventually I relent and get one budgie on my finger to train outside the cage while he tries to get the other one to step up on his. Here I thought he’d be smart enough not to let it fly out the cage but what gives. Now I have two untamed budgies out of the cage and freaked out with my brother trying to “help me” to get them to perch on my hand (they did not like being apart so it’d be better to get them both on the same perch and then into the cage). You might as why I didn’t do any of these methods and insisted on having them perch. Turns out one of them had their wings clicked and could only fly about a foot off the ground and with the other one not wanting to leave it’s side, it was a thing. It ended up taking about 3 attempts over the course of an hour and an ungodly amount of millet (they only step up with millet) In the end, the clipped one was so tired and clearly wanted back in the cage so I got him in. The flighted one was a confused and flew to the desk and couldn’t see it’s pair. Once I got her on a branch to perch and praying that she’d stay focused on the millet, I managed to tip toe her back and she got off gently as soon as she saw she was back home with her partner. TvT *sigh* It was an eventful day to say the list and that was all the training we did
I have two lovebirds, male and female. I never grab them, just put a newspaper at their feet and push there, and they lose their balance and go on to the newspaper, and they stay there, then I return them to their cage. Don't do this if your lovebird bites tho. Make sure its 5-6 papers and not a single one or they will lose their balance.
My budgie is called kira she is female idk she can't fly idk why but when i make her get out she runs to the cage quickly when i hode the cage she stay still and her husband love her when i make her go away from him he start screaming
I did the first step, turned off all the lights and put my phone's flash near the cage.. It ended up sleeping on the curtain 🤷♀️ didn't get back to the cage

I know this isnt related to the video but i really need some answers my parents didnt ask for permission they just got her and now shes living a miserable life unless i figure something out ANYBODY PLEASE HELP
Thanks for this because I every day leave my all the 12 birds in my room
my budgie comes out everyday.
I had 2 budgies..one died today and other is not eating😟how can i make it eat🤔any one reply

Idk if this is relatble
Pov your mom wont let budgies fly out in yiur house
You: let them out-
Nice video with great tips. Luckely all our birds know when it's time to sleep and go by themself in their cages to sleep. They also know that on Saturdays they're allowed to stay up longer, if they want to. Smart birds😁. But it's always good to know what to do if not😉
My budgie goes alone without teaching
Another video yay
I just got mine and turned the fan off and let them out, they are both laughing at me on top of the fan, I don't wanna grab them since they don't trust me yet
My female budgie doesn't let the male mate and they are always screeming and chasing.☹
dude you don’t even know. TvT *sigh* It was an eventful day to say the list and that was all the training we did
Thank you so much my dad accidentally let my budgies up to a light where we cant reach
Here with the first few
i got a new budgieeeeee, but they WON'T go in :(( i don't think they can find the door
My budgie flew out like a freaking attack helicopter and I've been trying for hours
My budgie is called kira she is female idk she can't fly idk why but when i make her get out she runs to the cage quickly when i hode the cage she stay still and her husband love her when i make her go away from him he start screaming
I’m trying to clean my brothers bird cage but it hates me
I did the first step, turned off all the lights and put my phone's flash near the cage..
It ended up sleeping on the curtain 🤷♀️ didn't get back to the cage
I’ve been telling my birds since the first time I let them out “I’m going the the toilet I’ll be right back I can’t leave ye out in case something happens to ye”
